I just don't get why they have such a poor reception to letting you fly at max level when the expansion launched. It worked well for mists of pandaria, Cataclysm you could fly from the start, and Wrath of the lich king had zones you had to borrow a flying mount if you didn't have one yourself. They keep saying it's because the game is made to be enjoyed from the ground, but I think the real issue is the same reason they keep daze in the game. They want travel to take longer. The only time I have fun traveling is just enjoying the relaxing nature of flying around gathering herbs on a druid. Travel is what you do between content.
So wait... a mini game? We don't even stay in the air the whole time? I'm simple, just let me fly from A to B on any mount I want.
This sounds like a total nightmare!

Well that kinda sucks, although I'm just wondering if this will result in a Widescale remodel of the Proto-Drakes or if the Proto-Dragons will be their own thing
I still can't find the interview where they comfirm thatThat AusGamers interview doesn't say that at allSeriously, what is the source of that confirmation?
Getting a mount with the super deluxe platinum edition will be so much fun … useless in Dragonflight or useless anywhere else, depending on what they decide to give us.
IF this is true, then it is something I feared they do. Granted, I don't know where they got that Feasel "confirmed" this because he never says anything about our collection of already existing flying mounts. Again IF this is true, then it means Blizzard has made the same mistake yet again. Creating a new system, (sigh), that will probably not work that well considering the game engine and lag, (sigh), and then making it mandatory for some element of progress. In this case, it looks to be exploration. Now if the system does work well AND they extend it to ALL mounts capable of flight, then cool.I'm not holding my breath on the system working well. Sorry, but when I see this system I can't help but get "Like the Wind" world quest flashbacks and how infuriating those were.
I imagine that, if I am in the Dragon Isles, where flying is clearly possible, an inability to take to the skies with all of my flying mounts would feel counter-intuitive and immersion-breaking. An experience that has felt similarly odd is not being able to fly in a new WoW zone only within the first few months after its release, during which time there is no geographical or story-based explanation for the restriction. I figured that Blizzard was trying to combat such an odd experience by allowing Dragon Riding from the first day of the expansion, but grounding flying mounts in general would, in my opinion, potentially work against that objective.
