honestly i think blizz should host previous wow versions/patches with a smaller monthly fee1.12 (vanilla)2.4.3 (tbc)3.3.5 (wotlk)it would kill off most of these private servers, and offer older players an chance to relive some of wow's better days
@Azazel Agreed. And Mists is worse. That's the majority of the 100k Subs they lost is because of Mist. And probably a lot more as soon as Mists comes out too.
I no longer play WoW, and to be completely honest when the Mists of Pandarian or w/e that retard expansion is thats coming out, they are gonna lose way more, I almost see the numbers dropping very very rapidly. Especially with the Release of Diablo3.
frankly I don't get this subscriber obsession.its like all those folks who were arguing across the internet about what game would sell more, Witcher 2 or Skyrim.seriously WHO THE HELL CARES? is not like any of that money is gonna go into my pockets. Or yours for that matter.I was happy enough in 2005 when wow barely had a meager million subscribers, and I'm still happy today, despite the doom and gloom. I admit that cataclysm wasn't anywhere as good as I expected it, but it was a necesary evil. They just HAD to fix the 1-60 content which frankly used to SUCK. On that department, I feel that cataclysm was a smashing success. Revamped zones, specialization system, reworked dungeons, and LFG did wonders when it comes to starting in the game.this came at the cost that the higher level content was less than perfect as it was the case in previous expacs. However my expectations for MoP are much better since this time they get to focus on the high lvl content and not have to carry the extra baggage of revamping lowbie zones. As for the subs....... as long as wow has at least 2 million subs, blizz still gets enough money to keep it alive, and as such will still continue to develop it. So as long as whatever subscribers wow has remains above 2 million, I don't really care what MMO has the largest subscriber base.
I don't think the subscriber lose is due to Blizzard's content or patches. Consider this, WoW was released 7 years ago. the 16 yo kid that played for hours and hours now is a 23 yo college grad saddled with debt and trying to start a career and family. Players are moving on in LIFE not to a different game! I feel what Blizzard has to do is more "marketing" to the younger players.. The "Play Free To Level 20" is a wonderful idea, however it is not being used as well as it should be.Blizzard should press more "Free to 20" discs and provide them to wherever kids are. Perhaps a mall kiosks that hands them out, or at wal-mart. get those "Free to 20" disc out EVERYWHERE! Another point is their choice of advertisers for the game. Lately they have chosen celebritys whose movies are either old or mostly "R" rated, thus making younger players unable to connect with the actor. take for example Chuck Norris. most of his movies are R rated due to violence, and I dont think "Walker, Texas Ranger" ranks high up on the list of a teenager, considering it went off the air in 2001.Another point is tie-ins for the game. lets look at the most recent, ampm stores. That particular store is not nationwide. blizz needs to focus on national accounts with an appeal to younger players. The Pepsi Game Fuel tie-in was great however :) Blizz, where are all the movies? how about a saturday morning cartoon? anybody remember GIJOE? they had cartoons, comics, action figures, books, How about a Warcraft LEGO set? Where was the Wow Super-Bowl commercial? how about a CGI tv show to go up against "clone wars"?I guess in summary, Blizz your game is fine. but please try to market it better and to the right audience.
Well blizz your not doing great giving players a feeling you don't give anything about them nerving loot systems not beeing working right and many more things will result in not only 1000k people leaving but this 10% is not the end it's just starting i know when you don't do better you will lose another 60%
It's over, WoW is finished, etc. etc.Well, I would jump ship, except that there are literally no better alternatives. I refuse to play a pay-to-win games that is prevalent in Asia. I don't know about now, but SWTOR refused to be available in my geographical area on launch, and that sort of hurts my feelings. Tera's excuse is even more pathetic... "oh noes, most of the hackers are from Asia, so we're gonna do an IP block for that entire region". It's not that WoW is incredibly good, it's just that the alternatives are incredibly bad.And I don't really mind if Blizzard would want to implement "Vanilla" servers, it's their money. But... why? In Vanilla, plenty of specs are broken (as in, ineffectual) - Ret means "retarded", not "Retribution", and Warriors are the only viable tanks. I do agree WoW is getting more "casual"-ized as it ages.. but to me, that's a good thing. Being forced / shoehorned into one role that is working by design, and the others to be un-viable, it's a horrible thing to happen to me.
Man it must really crush them to loose 15-17% of the subscription base over a year or so.Hey I just realized this past year Blizzard has been about as successful at retaining subscribers as condoms have been at preventing pregnancy!
