The Light cannot fully see destiny, though neither can the Void, for neither are singularly responsible for creation. The Light seeks one path and shuns all others as liesThe Void shows only half truths. It cannot fully see destiny, though neither can the Light, because neither are singularly responsible for creation. The Void seeks every possible path and sees them all as truth.

Interesting, if we look and pay attention to the Warcraft Cosmology, the last expansion was about the Fel realm (Legion), the current one was a prelude to the Necromantic realm (BFA and Shadowlands). This means that the expansion next to Shadowlands will be into the Void realm?
Now I think the concept of the conscious beings of the Light can have their own agenda and sway things to their own purpose, potentially evil. This post is talking about how some fanatical followers of the Light can be evil, and how groups like the Scarlet Crusade are technically followers of the Light, but are obviously enemies of pretty much anybody. But the way WoW has always described the light is a bit different. In the Arthas book, and in the Abbendis journal in WotLK, they both show the Light as somewhat abandoning certain characters when they follow a path of darkness/evil. When Arthas seeks revenge and travels to Northrend, he no longer feels the power of the Light, and same for General Abbendis, as she can no longer feel or hear the Light as she is swayed by Mal’ganis. I hope they don’t make it as if the light and shadow powers are subjectively good/evil, because it’s obvious the generic powers are either healing, good, and helpful, or painful, corruptive, and evil. I hope they stick to characters using those powers to their own end And choose either good or “evil”, like Alleria or Xe’ra. Therefore I think this line probably doesn’t make sense to have been removed. That is, unless they’re changing the enemy away from shadow, and maybe it’s fel or something? Or probably just a retcon.
The more I’ve thought about this, the more I realized that it’s annoying they decided that shadow and light need to be moral relatives, but then the Horde need to be the villains.
Man, it feels like people aren't even reading the article.NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED. It's literally in the first paragraph. The version linked on the official site still has Velen's line; and the version without the line has existed as long as the one with it has.Literally nothing has been changed/retconned/whatever, and all of the above is pure speculation on the reasoning Blizzard may have had for creating a version of the comic without the line. But the important thing is that despite creating both versions, only the version with Velen's line was officially released!
"Get the hell out of our galaxy" - John Sheridan.I keep tellin you guys, and have done for years, it's coming...
More like players are taking the theorycrafting a little too far between the lines. This isn't a retcon, this is more like a set up for whatever big bad it is, either Light or Shadow. Even if someone says, "Well its us the Light who will fight the Void" the player character has NO AFFINITY to either side. A blank slate. The Fool of a Tarot Deck.
In any non-English version of the comics the Velen's line is there... this means that only the version with Velen's line was sent to the Localization Team and officially released World Wide. So, the version without Velen's line was forgetted in an old and unused link that exist only on the US version on the site.No retcon of the ufficial version. Case closed.
Why is wow trying so hard to be diablo
If it's literally 4 year old news, there's no point in this. The click-bait is real.
wowhead article based off nothing, why even bring this old stuff up and tag it as beta when there is literally nothing here but writer speculation? holy clickbait :/and meh to this whole "omg light and void are morally grey" retcon nonsense, not a fan. We've had light being used for evil, void used for good for a long ass time and that was fine. Light/void are fundamental forces of warcraft's universe, just leave them be cause it works just fine. Either can be used for w.e purpose, but as forces: light = good/life/healing and void = dark/bad/evil/dubious. sure, beings of light like the naaru can do bad stuff, but they are NOT the light itself as naaru =/= light. Also actions of Xe'ra do no represent entire naaru nor does her actions change the fact that naaru have long since done all they can for the good of people. Hell, Xe'ra herself was the one fighting the legion for centuries on end. And yes, it's incredibly bad how blizzard writers constantly retconning things big and small cause they have no idea how to write a consistent story that builds off and works on established lore/history. The fact that the chronicles books were retconned to "only one view" not even a year or so after the last volume came out, says it all -_-
Jesus, yall are babies, just get over yourselves, is it a retcon? yes. Does it matter? No. Mainly because it's likely to have the same outcome
I don't see it so much as as retcon as clarification. Seems to me that the in game universe needs both in balance. Too much void and it all falls apart literally, too much light and it gets tyrannical. Not too different from real world comparisons.I guess for those hardcore "nothing can ever be changed types" you can see it as an altered future. The original comic was written before legion, before Velen had his bromance with Illidan and realized and perhaps blindly following a single power isn't the wisest course of action. I personally loved his friendship with Illidan, thought it made him more interesting as a character and just generally overall more "good"
It's not even a retcon because this version released with the regular version, and they still use the regular version where the line still exists on the website, not this one. People blowing this out of proportion screaming retcon and "you're sh!tting on the lore!11!1!" when literally nothing has changed are so ridiculous.
Mark my words. The forces of Death and Undeath are the ultimate weapon against the Void Lords, and just like Illidan did horrible things in the name of saving Azeroth from the Legion, so to will it be revealed that Sylvanas did everything she did to fight the Void Lords. Sylvanas is NOT Garrosh 2.0. Sylvanas is actually Illidan 2.0.
The more these new writers "progress", the more WoW is not WoW anymore. I can't take this sh-- anymore. What are Priest and Paladin players supposed to do exactly?
