Hmm, for me it was The Warden Staff: http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=943 purely because it sparked up so many memories when it dropped for me. It was the first epic item I ever had in my bag because it was the first character I properly levelled.I was playing horde at the time and I had made an Alliance druid friend who I spoke to every now and again with xfire. I was so happy to get the staff because it sold for 200g on my server. When news of it hit my friends ears she was over the moon and asked if she could have it. However, she wnted me to whack it on the gadgetzan AH for 10g. I was having none of it. :P After a long arguement in which she offered me her babies >< she swallowed her tongue and bitterly accepted it is getting sold for a lot more than she had.I got 200g and she didn't get the staff, or my babies. ^^
Ah, I remember it like it was only a couple of weeks ago... Wrath of the Liche King was on its way, people were abusing Play.com on the fora like it was the new Hitler, and I was sitting here, the day before release, with my shiny CE version in my sweaty little paws. It was good to be me.But wait! That is not the culmination of my tale: merely a gloating over those who suffered so at that time of cancelled pre-orders. Oh no, mine was a much greater prize.Remembering spending roughly two days installing TBC, I had it all loaded on my computer eight hours before the launch of Wrath. I figured that, given most of the "midnight openings" would still leave me time with a reduced swarm in Northrend before the desperate hordes returned from shopping, installed and logged on, so I was ready to grab the boat at the stroke of midnight. But then, a convenient plot twist! Roughly 22:30, a full hour and a half before the scheduled opening, someone made it across the waters. Stormwind Harbour got mobbed, as thousands of folk, most of whom still didn't have the expansion installed, leaped onto the boat in a desperate bid for freedom. I was one of those lag-ridden many, but the hope in my heart was born of a secret knowledge. As my screen full of friendly name-plates dissolved into loading, I tried to decide what to do first.Funnily enough, when the world swam back into view, there were only four of us on the boat. i can only assume the others died of starvation and scurvy on the voyage. Well, that or didn't have the expansion and were just chancing their collective arm. Lag-free for the first time in months, I spent a good hour running around the town looking for Profession trainers and some dudes lost barrel of anti-venom or some such.About 23:30, I realised that, soon enough, the hordes of huddled masses yearning to be free would soon infest my refuge, and so I had about half an hour to get my quests and GTFO of the first town. I packed my bags and ran like the demons of hell were at my heals.Just beyond the spider-dudes that circled the keep, I came across some dead mammoths. Mmmmm, skinning! 376, 377, 378... The levelling commenced on some mage's abandoned corpses. Silly wasteful clothies, don't know the value of a good hide! When the pre-looted pacaderm stock ran dry, I got my Balance on and Starfalled through the packs. Soon the squishy babies stopped interesting me, so I moved further up the road to where the more mature prey awaited. My bags were filled with Arctic fur and Borean Leather Scraps, and more than once did I have to venture back to the now seething town to mail them off to my bank alt.Suddenly, at 0:46..."Kaytie has gained the achievement "...swiftly followed by a flood of whispers ranging from "grats!" to "omg fast!" to "where can I find Marnkirk's wife?", and my poor abused computer crashing out from exhaustion.Screw the titles, who needs 'em! ...but a bear would be nice...
When I got my first epic from pvping for a long time.
This just happened a couple of days ago. We were fighting Heigan the Unclean in Heroic Naxxramus and for some reason, our raid slowly dwindled to a mere 3 people after most of the raid failed at the "Heigan Dance". Having lost almost our entire raid, it was me (holy paladin), a oom mage, and our tank. Luckily, being a holy paladin, my mana pool was sufficient enough to heal another several rounds of dancing. I couldn't say the same for our mage however, who needed to pop his potions, evocate, or run around till he had enough mana to do some damage. After what seemed to be forever, dancing with Heigan for what seemed like an infinite amount, we 3 got him down from 20% to dead. The loot wasn't great, but it definitely was one of the most epic battles I've ever been in.
best loot drop... hmmmmm. this goes before BC. server first nefarian kill :D. i got my shoulders(i think?). i was so excited i couldn't believe we had finally killed him and i got loot i could use! :)
Back when I played my paladin. I wanted to learn how to tank. I asked in trade all people could do was say "Use this, use that." And on and on and talked about gear. But how could I learn skills from just listening? Eventually a level 70 paladin invited me to a group. He asked if I was ready do die a lot. I said no. He told me well, I'm going to anyway.So...he logged off and whispered me from a level 70 rogue and invited me. He told me to meet him at the gate to Shattered Halls. So I did. Taking my slow flyer out of Thrallmar. :[. He unlocked the instance door for me and we entered. As soon as I entered he pulled a few mobs and vanished. I died. He told me I need to have a quick reaction. Try again. Ran back, and he did the same thing as soon as I entered half mana half health. I died yet again. He than told me to make use of my abilities. Experiment. He told me first use my Lay on Hands when I was low. I did, I survived longer than before. Yet I died yet again. Came back, he had me wait (as he needed to get his kid something) and came back when I was at full health and mana. He told me my talent spec needed Blessing of Kings. I made a mental note to respec and add that to it. Yet again he pulled a few mobs and vanished. So of course, I was under attack. I died again. This went on for a while. I had to repair four times. Took a while and he slowly told me to add a certain ability to the mix. I learned to be a tankadin on my paladin. This was truely, my most epic moment. Also...I never successfully solo'd the first few mobs in Shattered Halls. :[. But I did learn to survive for 45 seconds. He told me that was the key. Survival without depending on a healer.A few days later he came back with a healer, which had A LOT better gear than my paladin. I had to stop his healer from getting aggro.
I just got the Hatestrike, one hand sword from Patchwork tonight while our rogue was not there! My DK is so very excited to try DWing again with better weapons :D
The most epic drop I ever got? The Emerald Ripper. My guild was doing Kara for the first time, and I was Mutilate specced. I'd been salivating over this dagger for days, if not weeks. Our first night went pretty poorly, with our tank screwing up on Attumen for hours. Eventually, we got him down, and went on to Moroes. Miraculously, we one-shotted him. Immediately after looting, the unthinkable happens. Charter Communications decided that there was to be no loot for me. My internet went out before the dagger I wanted so badly could be given to me. I frantically tried to restore the connection, but nothing worked. As I was about to give up, I had a sudden realization. It didn't have to be me that logged in. It was 2:00 AM, so I had to call and wake up a friend of mine and get him to log in for me to get the dagger. The group had waited patiently for me to log back in, and my friend got the dagger in my stead. Two weeks later, I got my guild's first drop of Malchazeen as well, and I was one happy Rogue. The Emerald Ripper never dropped again.
I'd have to say that after hours of ginding 40 Felcloth and all the other mats, the last demonic rune that finally allowed me to create my Robe of the void was probably the most epic drop I've ever gotten. I mean, look at that thing. It has 14 stam on it! http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=14153
My most 'epic' loot drop....A long, long time ago on the beaches of Feralas.. I met a goblin named Zorbin Fandazzle, who wanted me to get some Zapped Giants, and whack some water elementals for Fuel for the Zapping. Well, that crafty goblin had some shiny toys and a handful of silver as a reward, so off I trudged to do his dirty work.A short while later, and much giant entrails and elemental essence later.. I happen upon a human paladin who has been sent on the very same mission. We decide to join forces, making the task go by much faster. Near the end of the job as a particularly nasty giant fell to the ground, slain by our hands.. a glitter caught our eyes. An axe.. and not just any axe, but a Flurry Axe! We talked over how we should devise the epic loot's ownership, as both of us could use it. I decided that the Paladin could have it, as he would gain more benefit from it than I. A lasting friendship was born that day. After the task was completed that day, the paladin and I still spoke on occasion.. though after a time we lost touch. Many many seasons later, (40 levels, and probably 9 months or so) we again ran into each other.. The paladin was now the second in command of one of our realms top raiding guilds, and he issued an invitation to me without hesitation. The invitation was accepted, and I joined the ranks of his guild along with a number of friends that I brought with me. A short time later, my paladin friend became head of the guild. To this day, no more epic drops have I come across than a friendship rekindled, and a raiding career begun. :)
my most epic loot would be a Big Battle Bear. *hint* *hint* ^_~
This might not sound epic to many of you but it sure was epic to me. When I got my pet Jaguero Stalker that I named Colar after a druid friend of mine. I got him in Stranglethorn when I was level 42 and I have loved him ever since.
