The problem is that playing normally doesn’t lead to having a lot of anima. Farming anima barely leads to a lot of anima.
just /unsub until they fix things
This article assumes a blank slate. If I'm already setup with all buildings on 1 and half of them on 2 (ie. how many players will likely have it), then upgrading all of them to two is a far lower cost, and the cost/reward relationship is much more favorable.Personally, I'm maxing out all my buildings now. With the 9.1 renown adding even more anima gains, its only logical to assume that also more anima expenses will come.Farming with the rank2 achievemnet now is definitely so much nicer then before. A daily tour of anima gets me 2k now, instead of barely 1k, if even, that I got before.
Im lvling my companions and i wont upgrade more covenant stuff until theyre all lvl 60. Well well...
I had level 3 buildings before the buff and I can tell you that the buffs were huge. I got almost 6k anima in 1 day after clearing the raid, doing 4 m+ and 3 world quests. If I wanted to bother with world quests every day it would be 2-3k anima per day easily. I think it's a good thing to reward players that play the game. You shouldn't be able to come 6 months after launch and have everything at same level as someone who played all the time.
I was able to collect about 17,000 Anima in a week with all Tier-2 buildings from WQs alone, when I was only able to get 5-6K if I was lucky before the change. Collecting all the cosmetics will be a breeze in 9.1 (provided they dont make them ludicrously expensive) with all Tier 3 buildings + the Anima buffs from Renown.

This is a poorly written post. Like many of Wowhead's 'opinions'.It is laughable to assume players would not spend anima on sanctum upgrades to start with. Sanctum upgrades themselves rewards collectibles so it is unwise to miss them. After all, that is what anima is for.
On my main, which I didn't bother to 'farm anima' that hard as some people did before these changes, I farmed mostly thru the mission table ones, and OCCASIONALLY WQ (mostly when doing Callings), and certainly the 250-anima ones, but other than that, I wouldn't go out 'chasing' anima WQ. Still, I managed to get Transport and Conservatory (Night Fae) to lvl 2, and Conductor to lvl 3 (and just some weeks ago I finished all 60 anima channels on that one). Mission Table I just got lvl 1, as both level 2 and 3 were 'worthless' to me as I didn't log more than 2 times per day on that character. I decided to put the Table on lvl 2, so I got all buildings at least on level 2, and decided to start 'cleaning' the Maps off of Anima WQ. I noticed that when I was 'finishing' doing that, MORE Anima WQ would pop up. Sometimes 1-3, sometimes 1-2 even in the zone I was finishing up.Verdict?: In 2 days worth of the Anima farm I'd get 5k+ anima, with lvl 2 buildings. More, speaking of Anima Missions from the table, I started seeing 'Blue' (Rare tokens, that give 35 anima, each, increased by these changes) anima missions once I hit 'Campaign Progress level 15+'.
"For this calculation, we're using the average of 70 Anima per activity, which is about the average given by an Anima World quest"so you are calculating based off NO gains on those quests to get your anima back?.... someone needs to recalculate. if you have rank 2 anima upgrades and are using the "low" average of 2 anima items now it would be 4 so 140 anima not 70.... but i would hazard to say the average is closer to 3 items per quest so if rank 2 it would be 175 anima. if you go rank 3 it would be another 35 as well.... so an average of 175 - 210 with a full range of 105 to 280 per world quest. This isnt even mentioning the anima gains listed in PTR that will "probably" go live with 9.1....
Excellent article, this was just the math I wanted to see for alt-decision-making.
I've put all my anima into my sanctum, so I had everything at tier 3 before April 12th. Ever since the patch I've been able to get anywhere between 2000 to 4000 anima per day. This varies depending on how many world quests have anima rewards, how many treasure chests and rare enemies I can find, and how many command table missions with anima I get. (the Bet On Yourself quest reward scales as well btw.)I could probably unlock everything from my renown quartermaster if I were to do this routine for a month. I do this for another month and I have enough anima for whatever new rewards become available in patch 9.1.How on earth can people still complain? Yes it sucks if you have alts, and some world quests are a bit tedious, but for your main this new system is great. Now that we're in a lull phase and wait for the new patch anyway, now's the best time to take a break from raiding/mythic+/PvP and get some anima.Considering how a lot of other mounts, pets etc. in this game are random drops, I prefer this grind with guaranteed results over the alternative.
A nice small QoL thing but I feel it should have been in the game from the start.
This would be worth it if it were an account wide unlock. Right now it’s just insulting.
