* I wrote a response for a post on a different message board that I figured I could share here as well. It's a bit long so move on to the next post if that's not your thing. It should be pretty relevant to the discussion.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As uncomfortable as it is to lose the Undercity and Darnassus, it's because these cities are held very dearly by players that makes this is an ingenious way to truly allow players during the present-time - to experience first-hand both the realities and consequences of a war waged agaisn't their own people. Experiencing both the event and the results of what would actually happen when armies attack the populated capital cities. I honestly can't think of a better way to stir people into taking action, than having your enemies conquer or destroy the very cities you have populated for over a decade. For the moment(since this is only the Alpha) - the why and the how that this is all happening is less important than is grasping what it is that Blizzard is trying to accomplish for players with Battle for Azeroth. Obviously these events are intended to whip the Alliance and Horde players into a frenzy, so that we can each be excited for the content that pits us against our opposing faction, and whatever other enemies lie in store. They want players to be hungry for their opposing factions blood, and that appears to be the idea for the beginning of the narrative for the story. I think this is really cool for a change, because this hasn't been the focus in the game for some time.People don't seem to have a problem with running old content and killing bosses that have been dead in the lore for a decade, but everybody is losing their minds over the continuity between the Legion and BfA expansions? I have personally always viewed the WoW expansions almost like separate episodes in a sense, or at least as taking place farther apart in the time line than simply consecutively and close together like how we experience playing them. The areas around the entire game are each taking place during a different time. It's not that odd for the time line within a story to have continued for a few years in between different books, or episodes. Most people don't really have a huge problem with these little details if they are hungry for story telling, and if they are excited and willing to be participants in the next story, then they are typically far more amiable to accepting some of the difficulties in story telling mechanics. Those who continually choose to get hung up on a few details are only making things more difficult for themselves. If you really want to enjoy a fantasy story, you can. When I sit down to watch a new TV show, or read a book, or play a new game that takes place in a time or place that is a little bit out of my understanding, I choose to give it a honest chance and I go into it with an open heart and an open mind. I am continually intrigued by the pleasant surprises I come across. Anyways I'm just saying, if you want to be a pain in your own ass for the rest of your life, it's to your own detriment. My Dad is/was an old school country boy who didn't stray too far out of what he knew. I turned him onto Breaking Bad during the first season, and I even turned him onto the Walking Dead eventually too. 10 years ago, the idea of my Dad being excited about a zombie show was about the most ridiculous thing I could imagine. Now he is far more receptive to the things that before he didn't understand. You just can't imagine how much he has changed since then simply because he was willing to give a new story a chance. You don't lose anything by giving something different a chance.
can't wait to kill Sylvanas as a raid boss :)
I think the devs forgot in their close minded horde is evil hurdy dur. That the goblin city is literally 2 zones away, plus the cata cat area also has access to the sea. So why wouldn't the alliance only be restricted to the NE Tree.
With the Void Elves being introduced into the Alliance, the Alliance can literally transport their Azerite from Eastern Kingdoms to Telogrus Rift and then to Kalimdor using portals because no &*!@ing member of the Horde knows how to teleport there (not counting Horde players that is). So pretty much burning Teldrassil to prevent the Alliance from transporting Azerite is plain dumb because they still have Exodar,Telogrus Rift and the Vindicaar to transport them. Blizzard really needs to fire the writers of these new dialogue because it literally made Sylvanas into another victim of bad writing.
