Well this sucks lol look at guardian druids they have like 4 or 5 builds that can be really good change playstyles make the class/spec feel a little more unique and different than how it has blood doesn't really get anything lol and it's kinda sad and instead of just nerfing the numbers in this how about you just FIX THE TALENTS let people have more options more builds not struggle to get back to where they already are it's insane they think this is good design
Mandl post hype
If another writer complains about getting "something you already had" or something that was baseline, I'm going to stop reading this ish. You have 31 points in the class tree (with room for utility), and 30 points in the spec tree. There's going to be things in there from previous expansions and in your current spell book. This is what we're getting, complain about the details of the trees, not the fact that we're going back to talent trees. You will not change Blizzard's mind on this.Valid Complaint:Shadow Priest has 22 points in the bottom section, with choice nodes being blocked by mediocre/bad 3 point passives.Useless Complaint:I have to spend 2 points to get my interrupt as a DK (nevermind the fact that you have room to spend on it and you don't need interrupts for everything).
Still waiting to get mass grip for DPS DK's :(
There's a lot of potential for interesting choice in the new talent trees, however there is also a lot of work to be done.Right of the bat many of the Blood talents are severely undertuned to be worth a point and to have a meaningful impact on gameplay. Improved Heart Strike is too expensive. Hasty Bargain, Rapid Decomposition, and Relish in Blood are way too weak to be interesting. Consumption and Mark of Blood should be reworked entirely. Ossuary, Heartbreaker, and Purgatory are too out of the way to be picked situationally because they come with clutter you may not want in the same situation. Many other talents are in the wrong place in the talent tree, e.g. Improved Vampiric Blood should be swapped with Hemostasis, Gorefiends Grasp should probably be a tier 2 talent. Not to speak of the DK Class tree, a lot of work to be done.
The explosive bone armor talents seem really fun. Be interested to see how those numbers look. My build looks quite a bit different to this as I enjoy quirky things until they aren’t good or nerfed in the ground.
Mythic+ build without selected rune tap and purgatory is really sus
The Class tree is too much linear, there is no horizontal crossing between Frost/Blood/UnholyThe Ghoul shoul be Optional (really otpional, not fake optional or forced) for Frost/Blood and baseline for UnholyReplace the first row of the Class Tree with Frost/Blood/Unholy Presence #BringBackDKPresenceAlso about this first impression:
I wonder what could be done. Moving some talents around so there's less "oh you HAVE to go down this tree", or perhaps more talents that are situational or niche? I always felt like people disliked those because they eventually became too niche when compared to "decent in all situations, therefore the best option."
Great read, will see how it will play in alpha and coming! Thanks Mandl
I loved how was working in Pandaria, with Death Strike being Rune costing (and not RP). Nowadays, you could spend RP into charges of Bone shield (having tools like Death's Caress to generate some at pulls). In Legion i was specting Bone storm was a Syndragosa's breath-like skill, but its just a 100 or less RP spender that you click and forget, healing a low % amount and letting you without resources to heal up with death strike. Rune costing Death Strike would solve this problem, and would position Blood DK even more in a Healing Tank Spec, more than it is right now. Mastery is also looking almost useless. Haven't seen being relevant in every expansion. Blood shield was one (if not the most) powerful active mitigation skill. Now BDK looks like an accordion, with totally irrelevant blood shields generated by big death strike healings. In my personal opinion, Mastery should be relevant in EVERY spec in the game, and classes that wants to avoid it completely shows us that have a bad desing, or is completely undertuned/useless.I have not played seriously BDK since Pandaria, so i will probably be wrong, but that's my impression when it was reworked years ago. I never felt secure again playing BDK once reworked.
I feel like most "experts" dissecting the DF talent trees miss the mark when the devs said "there are baseline things in the trees you get for free"
When they announced the return of talent trees people were very excited and how fun it will be to experiment , I tried to warn them, there will be NO experimentation, everyone will just go to wowhead and follow a guide for the "Best".I was downvoted into oblivion both on reddit and the official forums. Now I see some of the talent trees are already getting "Solved" before the alpha even starts. Trust me, we'll all know the "Right" answer for every class/spec come prepatch.
