Been Venthyr this whole time as a rogue, this “best” bs can shove it. They are just front loading the damage more as opposed to spreading it over 20sec. It will be nice but for the sake of all.. do your own testing guys.
Ever since the Niya soulbind fully unlocked, the Necrolord covenant hall has been completely devoid of life. Covenants should have been a purely cosmetic choice. Not that I'd be Necrolord if that was the case, but then at least SOMEONE would play it. Probably. Meaningful choice was a lie, and ended up just funneling all the playerbase into the better developed covenants like Night Fae and away from the uninspired and boring ones like Necrolord. Given how bad the lore and characters (lol Kyrians get Uther, Night Fae get Ysera and Bwonsamdi, Venthyr get Kael'thas and literally every prideful badass the warcraft universe has ever spawned, and Necrolords get.. Thrall's mom?) are, how poorly designed the whole zone and covenant is, (did you know your first anima conductor chest with grateful offerings for Necrolords is deep in enemy territory with literally about 50 mobs and a number of elites around it that you have to fight to get to it? Bet that Night Fae chest literally sitting in an NPC town sounds nice. How is getting random transmogs from the Venthyr court? I wouldn't know, Necrolords have to buy them with all that anima you don't have from a vendor instead.) it's honestly probably for the best that balance keeps people from picking this crap covenant.
For the vast majority of the people reading this, your covenant choice will not affect you. The casual player should pick whatever they think looks cooler, whatever they think has the best synergy with their preferred playstyle, the best lore, etc. as it honestly won't matter what you pick. The only people this really applies to are those pushing Hall of Fame / pre-nerf CE or pushing hard to be rank 1 with whatever spec they are on warcraftlogs or raider.ioYour class matters much more than your covenant choice right now. For this weeks (3/2-3/8) affixes I'd rather have a disc priest in all of my dungeons to make the bursting affix a non-issue when we pull big. I don't care if that disc is kyrian, night fae, necrolord, or venthyr. I care about the innate abilities that spec brings to the table, and if the player behind the class knows how to play it or not.Your covenant choice isn't going to make you a better or worse player 100/100 times. Picking necrolord over whatever is 'bis' isn't going to help you not stand in the fire, or dodge telegraphs on the ground, or learn your class rotation, or help you learn fight timings and dungeon routes. For 95% of us covenant choice won't make a huge difference.
Love the elitist b.s. from some comments. Some of you really have 'tude about your abilities and/or guild or scores - no one other than you cares. Honestly NO ONE.Blizz is going to keep tweaking covenants for the whole expansion to keep certain types chasing the meta. If that's you goal then do it. Grind out the renown and anima if that's what works for you. If you like the covenant you chose then stay there, as it will be the flavor of the month eventually. Trying to guess which parts of the game will get adjusted - especially to get people to switch, good luck.I've yet to read anything that makes me consider switching covenants and until they switch all the sanctum anima sinks too, not going to happen.
and you think your 20 years old game is beyond "subpar" difficulty chill out with your elitism lol
You can do the content with any of them. The difference is generally a few 100 dps. If that is what makes or breaks you. I'm sorry.
Posts like this, unfortunately, ruin the game. You take these weird (often anecdotal and without factual backing) responses, from admittedly top players - but they are few and far between. This further pushes the notion that 'If you're not <class> with <covenant>, you're bad".If you're going to post this, provide some hard evidence. As an example, I sim 6200 on 5-minute patchwork using Necrolord, or 6079 as Venthyr. This does not simply mean that Necrolord 'is the best', and you guys should feel some sort of ownership to presenting the data as a whole, not as a 'this is the best because 1 guy said so'.
so basically eveyone go night fae?
I'm a mage who picked Venthyr early and has felt locked into frost because of it. Out of curiosity I checked warcraft logs earlier this weeked to see if any venthyr mages had timed +15s in fire spec. I found a total of exactly one parse. The good news is that dozen of other parses confirmed 15s are being timed by venthyr mages staying in frost. It would have been nice to see that fire was an option too though (without having to switch covenants).
I main Enhancement Shaman and, recently, I changed from Venthyr to Necrolord purely because I love that covenant and the Venthyr bore me to death.I knew my damage was going to suffer for picking a sub-optimal covenant, it's a price I am willing to pay if it means I'll actually enjoy the covenant I'm bound to. The problem is that, no joke, my damage was cut off by 1/3 or more.I don't regret the switch, if I have to be in a covenant for 2 years it might as well be the one I actually like, but the discrepancy in damage shouldn't be this ridiculous.
Most people complaining about this are the same people that think 15s are high end content. Just play what you want/enjoy. ezpz
i really want to be a DH necrolord tank ffs blizzard, the covenant system sucks ass
Lack of Necrolords is pissing me off. They are suppose to be the military of Shadowlands but they get the worst out of all for almost ALL classes.
It's getting bored to say that blizzard launches a patch to fix covenants balance and still fail.I was going back this week.... but man, I'd guess I'll be better skipping all SL BS and even next expansionBlizz must change the theorycraft team, they just down the game. Even the SL lore is passable, but not their balance on game....Everyday is another deception from blizz. They should at least try do make it right.
