I like how there’s a feeling of progression it feels like your doing some thing to move the game forward well it will till it’s the 8th time you’ve run the same instace then it will be ““not this again””CWR
any possibility on posting the alliance version? Would be really awesome!Nice info anyway!cheers
Just my two cents, but I'm not thrilled with the quest-giver change. I actually liked finding the quest-givers while in other areas of the world (sometimes a far far off part of the world). I enjoyed questing my first character and coming across those quests. It tied things together between the instances and what effects they had outside. It also was a great tidbit to make me want to go someplace I had not been to yet when I first leveled.Granted I've not seen the quests or instances in Cataclysm so far, but instances at the first were challenging. They were something you planned to do with friends. When the ICC 5 mans came out, there was Jaina at the start of each one of the instances. The first guy in just clicked, spammed share... nobody read the stuff or waited for the emotes (they didn't care). Off we went and in short order we left with achievements, raid equivalent gear and not much to talk about. There was really nothing compelling me to go back on day two.I fear that if old world quests are just replaced with some cursory material at the entrance, and the NPC groups are reduced in number and/or trivialized to window dressing for no other reason than to make it easier, Cataclysm will put the older instances in that same category. There's a growing disconnect between running instances and questing/leveling. Right now I experience heroic instances as a grind for badges that many of my co-players do simply out of habit between patches after they bore themselves with raids. I've PuG'ed a lot on alts in the non-heroics and, many times, the leveling groups aren't interested in background (why the instance is even there in the first place) and there's a growing intolerance of mistakes and wipes. The view of the instance for many people is that it's an obstacle to get through as quickly as possible for a badge or a level. The instances were a big thrill at the beginning for me. They had a lot of context going for them. It's not remained that way in my opinion. At the extreme, if quests are moved to within all instances, of which none take more than 20-30 minutes, many could simply log on, fire up the LFG tool and never set foot outside the battlemaster's area unless it is to go see a trainer. Having my past experiences, if I were to imagine what stepping into those first instances will be like for a new player... I may feel disappointed. As a veteran player, Herod is still Herod and the Cathedral still has the fountain in front of it. I've seen the place a hundred times and a new quest at the entrance isn't going to entice me back.Again, that's my two cents. If you're liking it, then I'm lovin' it for you.
Do they rebalance the old instances? Currently, all of them are just "pull 2-5 groups and aoe". Even without heirlooms.
Blizzard simply understand that player has stopped to run around the world doing quest-chain when can use a dungeon finding tool. It's simply a patch-up to a situation that they've created and not managed all the consequence.
Love the update to this old chestnut.
I would have hoped for more changes really, and do not like the "reduction in NPCs". Why do they always have to make stuff easier. SM was or could be somewhat challenging in vanilla, but now its easy..no need to make it easier.Love this instance thou, one of the best in wow (besides SFK). Can't wait for the heroic preview for that one...

I'm on the fence about the quest givers being inside. On one hand, it's incredibly convenient for running through LFD, and if you're getting boosted through the instance. On the other hand, there was a certain accomplishment coming from completing a fairly rewarding chain, and the grand finale of being sent into a challenging instance to take down a leader or something of the sort. Like another poster said, tying the outside world into the instance.Of course, not all dungeons quests/chains had epic lead-ins. The SM quests, for example, were all just "Go get the quest from this place", except a few of them were all over the place. I think the only quest that was part of a chain and sent you into SM was the Test of Lore series.Either way, I'm hoping that, at least, there will be an "epic" breadcrumb from a long chain, sending you to the instance. I think the instances would just feel too detached otherwise.
I'll be interested to see if there are dungeon maps for the classic and BC areas now... like the NR dungeons and raids?
For me, I'd always enjoyed doing the massive instances and getting all the quests for them. But with this change, what I hope could happen is that there are updated quests from outside the instance too so those leveling can do instances if they have the majority of the quests and those leveling through the dungeon finder could do the quests inside too.
