Diablo 2 was the first Blizzard Game I ever played. But wont be buying this until I see exactly what they are doing with the game. I do not have high hopes for this one, ngl. Esp. after their double talk and lawyer stuff they tried to pull on immortal. (inb4 someone still trying to defend them for it. Don't bother)
Riiight.. In before, in a couple of months from now, this same fella comes out and says that we "took those p2w comments out of context".People, this is Blizzard we're talking about here. Trust them at your own peril.
Do you trust Blizzard?A) NoB) NopeC) Hell, No!D) All of above.
I will believe it when it is a year after fully released No P2W must means no season pass that gives u more power and no gems/etc that gives u better loot/powers Other than that .... it is another way of blizzard trying to twist words/facts
Im ok with a battle pass, help keep things fresh and assure that D4 will receive better support post launch.
Fun Fact: Free to play games are not, in fact, free to play.
To me this is perfect monetizationBox price to fund the campaign/story, the actual current game as it is release.Battlepass and Cosmetic Shop for regular support to keep the game updated and fresh every season.Expansion/DLC for new big "feature/world zone"--------Everyone want just a box price game, but like if you want that, you basically just say "i want no update ever" which I personally I would like to play D4 for quite some time :)D3 was very good at start, but there was very few update, lot of legendary did nothing, lot of stuff were completely useless.I dont even think the Auction House was even that bad for the game. What killed Diablo 3 was the big lack of update, lot of wasting resource on gameplay update that didnt see the light (PvP), Item Set which completly destroyed theorycrafting due to the Set being like 1000 times stronger than a theorycrafted legendary build without big set. With this monetization plan for Diablo 4 we can expect actual updateto keep the game fresh, refreshing the meta and things.
So it's going free to play?
There is zero percent chance that this game doesn't add pay to win mechanics within the first few months. Just because they say it will LAUNCH without P2W does not mean it will stay that way. They also tricked the player base with diablo immortal, by creating those gems that are responsible for the vast quantity of player power, and saying that the shop wouldn't have power items in it.
Here is my prediction for D4s first 18 months:1: 60+ dollars2: season passes that don't include P2W mechanics3: Game discounted to $404: season passes start getting new things that add power to your character but cant be traded or what have you, and are decried by the community as P2W but most people will be like "whats the big deal" then community will get branded as boys who cry wolf5: Game will go down to $206: season passes will push the limits of the definition on P2W and maybe start adding some new currencies or items like "gems" to the shop purchasable only with season pass currencies earned from playing - community will cry about it but nobody will listen7: game goes free to play and season passes and shop become P2W completely
After Immortal, I won't be believing anything Blizzard says anymore UNTIL I actually see it.
Just make a video game. No 'season passes', no 'microtranscations', no 'boosts', no NFTs, no paid cosmetics.Just make a video game that people play and have fun in.Is that so hard? Are indie companies the only ones who are ever going to be doing that now?
In my opinion the game should be completely free with absolutely no way for them to make money from it and also anyone that plays it should get paid by them monthly. That seems reasonable right? At least everyone that is crying here seems to imply that they want this type of game... Well sorry to burst your bubble, but development costs money and like LITERALLY any other business on the planet their sole reason to exist is to PROFIT.Season battle pass with just cosmetics that have no effect on the gameplay is not just OK, but a MUST in my opinion. Same for cosmetics in general.People that are crying that they want just a base game and nothing else don't realize that, that means less content as well. The more money a game makes the more content they will provide and cosmetics is the easiest way for companies to make money without going p2w.if Diablo 4 is just buy to play, then you would be looking at new content every 1-2 years(expansion) if not more(depends on how much copies they sell). At the other hand if there are cosmetics that are making a ton of profit for the company that will incentivize them to release regular content in order to keep the interest in the game and for people to spend even more money.Anyone that doesn't realize something, so simple shouldn't really comment in my opinion.
no pay to win? i think ive heard that someplace else before and it was a lie .....cant remember where it was though *cough*
