Bro I just want my game back.
Good bye Blizzard.
Is it a good news that the one responsible for whole cost-cutting debacle is gone from Blizz? or this solves nothing at all?
WoW is almost a decade and a half old, and has the most subscribers for its era. The major MMOs of that time are all doing worse subscription wise and EQ 1 and 2 are zombies that are breathing their last gasp of air before they get canned, the company currently in charge of those 2 games Daybreak is currently selling a limited number of "lifetime subscriptions" for $200 or so TO ALL OF THEIR GAMES, those games are as good as dead. WoW is doing very well for how old it is, and that's the thing about it, it's an old game, you play a game, like an MMORPG which is all about eternal grinding, for a decade and you will get burned out at one point or another. A game that is going a million subscribers strong at the very least after 14 years is in an okay spot. The age of the game and how many expansions is also something that scares away possible new players, if I joined the game now, sure I'd be instantly put into current content, but I'd also have 7 other expansions plus the base game of content to catch up on, which can be daunting to a new player. A newer MMORPG means I'm starting not too far behind other players and thus is easier to get into. People see new MMORPGs and their newer graphics and different combat styles and look at WoW as outdated, but in 14 years from their creation will they still have a million subscribers or will they be starting to go FTP with a subscription with perks and eventually selling "lifetime subscriptions" for money along the way? Many posts I've seen talking about WoW killers or how WoW is dying don't seem to acknowledge that it's a 14 year old game that's got over a million subscribers. That's pretty damn impressive.
wow killers or how is dying but if u get a closer look you will see a lot of wow streamers just play other games and their main game was WoW like bajheera soddapopin asmongold athene reckfull and a lot more streamers(i mean i saw their streams at evry start of expansion from wod until now they just play 1-2month after stop )..they really endure 10years but i think this time this game will lose a lot of people its not like dying but he lose..the company they never change their mentality about this game(the game have no balance non logic changes, a lot of changes are hasty and wrong, and when a game its not balance people are force to play something else that don't like and they will surender ) the game its just simple its a bad game to play or pay , there is no reason for a lot of people to play it hardcore again..ofc the game will not die but the company will lose a lot if they keep going in direction like that ..(i also think the new people that come to work blizzard company after mist of pandaria expansion with their new "brilliant ideas" they actually ruin the game a simple and my honest opinion...)
Isn't Amrita Ahuja the CFO that has overseen a significant encroachment of Finance in the company decision making? If so, then good riddance to bad rubbish. Finance taking over a company has never, in the history of business, end well. If this ensures non-financial decisions are not made by Finance (I am not saying financial considerations should be ignored, but decisions should not be taken by the Finance experts, who tend to be extremely shortsighted, as the string of ruined companies and brands in the hands of CEOs with finance background shows) then I sure hope her replacement is a more sensible sort who knows to leave things in the hands of the people who made this a successful business, and not encroach upon decisions that are not her purview or area of expertise.
It's sad that game companies changed from just wanting money, to wanting ALL the money as Jim Sterling would put it. Triple A companies are just trying to find the golden goose that comes every X years that rake in all the cash, prime examples of this is Minecraft and now Fortnight, which broke 1 billion in micro-transactions last year. That's what they all want, from EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Activision, "live services" so they can squeeze player bases dry. At least WoW was save from lootboxes and yes micro-transactions (the ingame shop is hardly comparable to a triple A game that has a shop with a makeshift currency up the wazoo) this year. But we've seen HoTS failing, Hearthstone in decline, so who knows what they'll do to make up for this "loss".All because Activision/Blizzard is catering to investors and not to it's player base.Oh well, here's to hoping Cyberpunk 2077 will be good so I know what to play this year.
Blizzard destroyed all Night Elves lands, most beautiful thing in the game. Of course they lost more than 10 million players. . .They should fire Story Writers instead.
