Blizzard's latest audio drama covering the Story of Alleria and Turalyon examines Xe'ra's history, as well as the grey morality of both the Light and the Void. In this story, we'll also learn how Alleria and Turalyon escape from Draenor, how Turalyon joins the Army of the Light, and why Xe'ra imprisons Alleria.
This set of quests unlocks a variety of content on Argus: Emissary Quests for Army of the Light and Argussian Reach, various profession quests, and the World Quest areas Krokuun World Quests and Antoran Wastes World Quests.
This also unlocks the Vindicaar Matrix, detailed in our Vindicaar Guide. Through questing you will unlock four abilities that each have outdoor combat benefits: Light's Judgment, Lightforged Warframe, Fel Heart of Argus, Shroud of Arcane Echoes. These abilities are also needed to smash chests open for Shoot First, Loot Later. At this point in the quest series you will get Light's Judgment. Here are some interesting chests you can open with this ability:

While not particularly rich in lore analysis, we unlock the 2nd Argus zone Antoran Wastes. Here are some highlights:
World Quests in this zone exclusively give reputation towards Army of the Light.
The entrance to the Argus raid, Antorus, the Burning Throne, is located in Antoran Wastes.
Players can turn in Intact Demon Eye to Orix the All-Seer for rewards like Cross Gazer and All-Seer's Eye.
Uuna, a Draenei ghost child that escaped the grizzly fate of being turned into an Urzul, is a companion pet acquired through a lengthy process in Antoran Wastes of summoning The Many-Faced Devourer.
Notable mounts include Vile Fiend from Houndmaster Kerrax, Crimson Slavermaw from Blistermaw
Notable toys include Micro-Artillery Controller from Wrath-Lord Yarez
Notable battle pets include Antoran Bile Larva, Antoran Bilescourge as wild pets, and Rebellious Imp from Mother Rosula.
Varga can drop the Fel-Spotted Egg for Mana Ray mounts and pets.
Deadly environmental threats include the Fel Tornado and zone-wide The Paraxis.
The zone-wide treasures, Legion War Supplies can contain pieces for Zealous Felslinger Cloth and Sha'tari Defense Plate (Recolor)

Prior to 7.3, Aggramar's Stride is a legendary in Legion and Aggramar is an objective in Path of the Titans
Sargeras' line in the cutscene references the Il'gynoth quote: "Your coming was foretold in the rings. The long circle is nearly complete."
Aggramar is an upcoming boss fight in which his sword Taeshalach plays a major role in the mechanics. Players will have to deal with Aggramar's Taeshalach Technique, and alternate between sharing the brunt of his attacks and letting the tank eat a large Foe Breaker. Aggramar also is equipped with a Corrupt Aegis, a corrupted version of the Aegis of Aggramar which will recovered from earlier in the expansion. As one of the rewards, players can acquire and transmog to Taeshalach, the ruined sword from his battle with Sargeras.

Magni has been in communication with Azeroth for some time, most notably in the pre-7.3 scenario Whispers of a Frightened World:

This quest series marks the start of a separate Class Hall Side Chain, which unlocks after completing The Burning Heart.
Through the early part of this questline, you will unlock Petrified Forest World Quests, Krokuun Equipment, Krokul Ridgestalker, and Krokuun Missions.
There are lots of new types of Champion Equipment added in 7.3, and the item level of followers has been increased through 950. You will get these special follower items through unlocking access through the quests listed above.
There are two more parts of this Class Hall questline, to unlock even better followers and missions, detailed in the Legion Class Hall Guide. This questline will culminate in Man'ari Training Amulet.

Completing this questline unlocks Nath'raxas Hold World Quests, the final round of Krokuun World Quests. You can see which are active on the Wowhead World Quest Tracking Page. Complete World Quests for Army of the Light and Argussian Reach reputation.
You'll also unlock the Lightforged Warframe Matrix Core Ability, which looks very cool! This temporary mount has the following abilities:
Judgment Blast: Inflicts 5000000 Holy damage to enemies.
Purifying Flame: Deals Holy damage to all enemies in a cone in front of the caster for 1.5 sec.
Crusader Leap: Inflicts Holy damage to enemies at the targeted location and knocks them back.

Lightforged Warframe is a permanent version - it's an Exalted reward with Army of the Light for the steep sum of .
The Lightforged Warframe ability is needed to open some special chests. Here are interesting chests and rewards (visit object pages for zone/map coordinates):

On a lighter note, during Lord of the Spire cutscene your own character will be featured in an epic pose. In this part of the quest series, we unlock the third Argus zone Eredath:
World Quests in this zone exclusively give reputation towards Argussian Reach.
The entrance to the Argus dungeon, The Seat of the Triumvirate, is located in Mac'Aree.
Notable mounts include Maddened Chaosrunner from Wrangler Kravos, Lambent Mana Ray from Venomtail Skyfin, Acid Belcher from Skreeg the Devourer
Notable battle pets include Arcane Gorger, Felcrazed Wyrm, Pygmy Marsuul, Skyfin Juvenile, Void Shardling, Voidstalker Runt, Warpstalker Runt
Notable toys include Baarut the Brisk, Red Conservatory Scroll, Yellow Conservatory Scroll, Blue Conservatory Scroll
Kaara the Pale and Sabuul can drop the Fel-Spotted Egg for Mana Ray mounts and pets.
As an easter egg, Hakmud of Argus from the Alliance Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth is now back in Argus on Mac'Aree.

Of particular interest in this cutscene, we get to see a Young Prophet Velen as well as Archimonde and Kil'jaeden wearing light-themed armor at the start of their corruption.
Arrival of the Naaru is an archaeology toy that depicts the first time the Naaru met the Eredar. The Last Relic of Argus is an additional archaeology solve with the flavor text "Before they lived on Azeroth or Draenor, the Draenei, who still called themselves the Eredar at the time, lived on Argus. When Sargeras took notice of Argus, Prophet Velen fled with some of his people, who became the Draenei. The remaining Eredar were absorbed into the Burning Legion. This simple crystal was taken from Argus when Velen fled. The inscription on the bottom reads, 'I long for Mac'Aree.'" This item ports you to a random place in Azeroth.
Many of the Draenei Archaeology Solves reference the former magical and elegant civilization.
Kil'jaeden is the final boss of Sunwell Plateau and makes an appearance in the Legion Subtlety Rogue Artifact Questline as well as granting Caria Felsoul the Aldrachi Warblades in the Vengeance Demon Hunter Artifact Questline and Varedis Felsoul the Havoc Demon Hunter Artifact Twinblades of the Deceiver. He then makes a final appearance as the last boss in Tomb of Sargeras. Many of his actions were driven by revenge against his former friend Velen; this led him to corrupt the Orcs on Draenor to turn against the relocated Draenei. You can read about Kil'jaeden in-game with Kil'jaeden and the Shadow Pact.
Prophet Velen is the leader of the Draenei, residing in The Exodar. He is best known to players for appearing at the end of The Sunwell and reigniting the well with the fallen spirit of the naaru M'uru, so the Blood Elves could have a healthy source of magic. He also makes an appearance in the Priest Artifact questlines and T'uure, Beacon of the Naaru, the Holy Priest artifact, was used to help the Draenei escape from one of the worlds the Legion found them on. He also makes an appearance in alternate-reality Warlords of Draenor in Shadowmoon Valley. In this version, he ultimately sacrifices himself, passing on his holy mark to Yrel, so he could purify Ner'zhul's weapon: the fallen naaru K'ara, the Dark Star. You are then mailed The Prophet's Arcanum which starts The Prophet's Final Message and builds a memorial to Velen in Karabor.
In Legion, Velen has played a much larger role. In the scenario Bringer of the Light, we defeat the Exodar from a Legion attack--learning the demon at the end of the scenario, High General Rakeesh, is his son. You can read the in-game dialogue when Velen realizes this here. Velen's next major appearance is on the Broken Shore in Patch 7.2. Tanks will be especially familiar with Velen as he assists players in the The Highlord's Return artifact appearance challenge. Alliance players will also see Velen as an adviser to Anduin in the emotional The King's Path questline. Velen ultimately confronts Kil'jaeden in The Deceiver's Downfall in the Tomb of Sargeras raid--where he learns he needs to let go of the past, for himself as well as his son. You can see this cinematic after defeating Kil'jaeden:

Learn about Thal'kiel's sad story via the Artifact history book in your class hall as a Demonology Warlock. We've added the text to our Demonology Warlock Artifact Overview.
Lord Jaraxxus is one of the fan-favorite bosses, due to his catchy voice-over lines. He's also a famous Hearthstone card, referenced in Golden Hearthstone Card: Lord Jaraxxus, a toy which turns you into Jaraxxus and lets you do his signature emotes.
Learn about the original Jaraxxus abilities on our boss article page - he was added in Wrath of the Lich King, in the Trial of the Crusader raid. He was known for summoning several types of adds, including infernals from Infernal Volcanos.
The Jaraxxus encounter begins when Wilfred Fizzlebang boasts he can summon a powerful demon and things go badly. The Demonology Warlock legendary Wilfred's Sigil of Superior Summoning references this event:
Wilfred Fizzlebang yells: Thank you, Highlord. Now, challengers, I will begin the ritual of summoning. When I am done a fearsome doomguard will appear!
Wilfred Fizzlebang yells: Prepare for oblivion!

The Fizzlebang family lives on - Lulubelle Fizzlebang, his sister, is a Warlock Class Hall Champion. Wilfred Fizzlebang also appears as a ghostly figure in the Running of the Gnomes event in Duskwood.The Conservatory has many flavor NPCs that add to the atmosphere of a magical school. One such NPC is the rare Instructor Tarahna who drops the toys Blue Conservatory Scroll, Yellow Conservatory Scroll, and Red Conservatory Scroll. These were part of Archimonde's lesson plans.The Defiler's Legacy

“I cannot step hoof in the Praetorium. But you knew that, didn’t you?”
“Hmm, perhaps.”

“Archimonde was disdainful of the Sigil’s limitations. Without the rest of the Crown, it gave him little power. And power was all he ever craved. This disdain is what allowed us to recover the Sigil. Had he anticipated its value to us, heh, he most certainly would have destroyed it. I do wonder what he hoped to prove with his trials. Was the Sigil itself the test, perhaps? We are one step closer to unlocking the Vindicaar’s true potential. All that remains is the Crest of knowledge. Then the Crown will once more be whole.”

Archimonde is a boss in both Burning Crusade and Warlords of Draenor. In The Burning Crusade, players go back in time to Battle of Mount Hyjal where Archimonde aimed to destroy the World Tree and absorb its power. In Warlords of Draenor, an alternate reality, Archimonde leads the demons in an invasion of Draenor
There are several special rewards for defeating Archimonde during Warlords of Draenor: Time is a Flat Circle on Normal+ difficulty, Reins of the Grove Warden on Heroic+, and and Felsteel Annihilator on Mythic.
When he is defeated in Hellfire Citadel, he reminds Gul'dan that they had a pact, sending him through the Black Gate. It is later revealed, in a Legion cinematic, that Gul'dan steals Illidan's remains from Vault of the Wardens.
Before Archimonde was corrupted by Sargeras, he murdered Thal'kiel, an Eredar master of summoning demons that pushed too far into the Void. Thal'kiel's skull, Skull of the Man'ari, served as a warning about power to the other Eredar.
In this flashback, we get to see Archimonde in his pre-corrupted form:
Completing this part of the Argus story rewards Shroud of Arcane Echoes, which is needed to open some chests for Shoot First, Loot Later. At this point, you will have acquired all the Matrix Powers needed for that achievement. In addition to the achievement, these special chests can contain pieces for Ceremonial Karabor Regalia (Recolor). Here are some special chests which require Shroud of Arcane Echoes:

Tailoring and Jewelcrafting quests unlock--Jewelcrafting is especially useful due to epic gems.
Mac'Aree treasures are now available--the Ancient Eredar Cache. This can contain pieces for Sha'tari Defense Plate (Recolor) and Ceremonial Karabor Regalia (Recolor).
Completing this part of the Argus story also unlocks the questline for Lesser and Greater Invasions.

Conclusion

I have read a few theories and listened to the audio drama and the conclusion I have come to is this- Antorus serves to consolidate demons resurrections so they don't have to be searched for all over the nether after they die. It may even serve to harness the energy of their resurrection.
It may even be that only the original demon races, born of the nether, would reconstitute in the nether and Antorus was needed to provide this ability to such races as the eredar.
Demons can still be killed in the nether, but the idea that Argus would count too was an apocryphal misconception of Illidan. Though chronicles say a place with enough fel energy would count- either this has been retconned, argus doesn't have enough fel energy, or Antorus overcomes the deaths that occur in such a circumstance, in addition to normal planes of existence, while still not overcoming those that occur in the nether.
