Blizzard has issued temporary bans to players who exploited a bug with the
Fiasca delle Dieci Terre
added in patch 8.1. Not all players were banned for the same length of time, with some as short as 2-3 days, likely based on how they utilized the exploit. According to comments on
Reddit
, the longest ban appears to be 31 days.
While the potion is meant to stack with other bonus stat and experience increasing effects, such as the Darkmoon Faire buff
WHEE!
, earlier this month players discovered that the potion could be used repeatedly, creating multiple instances of the buff to combine their effects. This greatly increased the bonus stats and experience gain, beyond what was intended. While the bug was fixed last week, bans were not announced ahead of time. At this time, it's unknown whether any other punitive measures will be taken, such as deleveling characters which benefited from the exploit.
Implications
With the first part of the
Mythic Dungeon International
event happening this weekend, banned players will not be able to participate in the event, potentially upsetting prospective teams.
Players that received the longest bans will likely miss the first week of the Crucible of Storms raid, which
opens on April 16th
, though they could still make it to Mythic the following week.
