What is Transmog?
Transmogging allows players to replace gear items appearance that with the look of a different item. Some players go to great lengths to collect items to add to their collection so that they can always fit a theme or style, mismatch horribly or match from head to toe all the time. Other players enjoy changing their transmog based on many things, perhaps they got a new weapon and they want to complement that with their gear fitting the same color theme, or perhaps change it to be entirely all pink during the love is in the air event. For whatever reason, people really do love transmogging, however ever since the feature was introduced in patch 4.3 Cataclysm the bags and banks of players have become encumbered with...everything...At this point we could probably start a show called "Warcraft: Transmog Hoarders". Adopting bits from the same system in Diablo 3, with a few little touch ups to to make it work even better in Warcraft, this system was one of the many positive features of Legion.
There is a
Wardrobe
tab in Collections which opens up your collection of appearances. You can see items for a particular slot at once, filter by different sources, and sort by what you have/what you're missing.
How Do I Transmog my Gear?
Since the Legion pre-expansion patch, you can access the new transmog system.
Go to a
transmog NPC
in major cities and click on them to open up the transmog window.
The transmog window is similar to the existing window with a paperdoll and slots you click on to apply transmog. However, it is greatly expanded with your wardrobe collection on the right-hand side.
The transmog window also now includes the option to save outfits.
You must be by an NPC to transmog and change your appearances, but you can browse your collection anywhere just by opening up your tab.
Transmog Changes By Expansion
Shadowlands
From level 1-9, characters can only use Vanilla appearances. However, from level 10 to 48, players can transmog their gear using appearances all the way up to Battle for Azeroth! At 48, the player can then transmog Shadowlands appearances.
In Shadowlands, players can transmog each shoulder to a different transmog appearance.
You can hide one of the shoulder transmog appearances instead of hiding them both.
Players can mix and match Legion artifact appearances of different class specializations to their weapons! With these new rules, you are able to transmog any artifact appearance from your class, as long as it follows normal weapon transmog rules (i.e. 1-hand to 1-hand, 2-hand to 2-hand, etc). This means that while you can transmog your own spec artifact regardless of your weapon, you still must follow normal weapon transmog rules for Artifact from other specs of your class.
Druids can head to any barber shop and choose their Bear and Cat Form appearances separately from their character’s hair or fur color. This addition to the Barber Shop services will also include the option to select Bear and Cat Form Artifact appearances so all Druid specs can have the choice to shapeshift into their unlocked Artifact appearances and allow Guardian and Feral Druids to have more choices with weapon transmogs when choosing their Artifact forms.
Druids can change their aquatic, flying, and travel forms at the barber shop, meaning they will not need to keep overriding glyphs.
Shadowlands Transmog Level Range Breakdown
At level 1 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 9 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 9- all Vanilla appearances.
At level 10 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 48 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 48 -includes all of the transmog from Vanilla wow up to Battle for Azeroth
At level 49 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 60 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 60 - all Shadowlands styles.
Battle for Azeroth
8.0
Artifact Weapons are available for transmogrification.
You can transmog an artifact weapon over any weapon type for that spec. For example, a Fire Mage with a staff can get the 1H Sword/Offhand visuals of Felo'melorn.
Druids can transmog into their Guardian and Feral artifact forms via a drop-down menu at the transmogrifier.
When you transmog to Aluneth, Xal'atath, or Skull, the weapon will whisper to you.
Blizzard
Entering a dungeon or raid that is trivial for you (i.e.: your character is more than 10 levels higher than the dungeon or raid’s intended level) will activate a “legacy loot mode.” That loot mode will work like this:
The number of items dropped by bosses will be the same as it would have been if you were in a full party. So if you’re in a 5-player dungeon, you’ll get 5 players’ worth of loot.
For raids with a flexible raid size (such as Raid Finder), this will act as though there were 20 players in the raid.
All items on the loot table will have a chance to drop, not just the ones that are designated for your spec.
If you have multiple players in the group, the loot will be split among those players, but be tradeable. For example, if you’re clearing with one other player and kill a boss that should drop 4 items, you’ll each be able to pick up two items and trade them between each other if you like.
8.1
Announced in the Blizzcon Battle for Azeroth Q&A, Fist Weapons will now be transmoggable into other 1H weapons.
The reputation requirement for transmogrification of armor, weapons and tabards has been removed and are now account wide. You need the reputation still to unlock the apperance, however no longer need the reputation to use the appearance. This means, you can use them on alts! Other rules still apply, such as minimum levels and armor restrictions. You can read about it more
here.
Legion
New transmog slots: Shirts, Tabards, and Weapon Illusions.
Shoulders can be hidden. The options to hide helms and capes are now moved to Transmog NPCs, not UI options.
Many low-level mail rewards, intended for Warriors and Paladins, have been converted to plate. Some appearances may now be available to different classes.
Appearances are now account-wide.
Sets have been added to more easily collect dungeon, raid, and PvP sets for your class. Collecting these sets awards the
艾泽拉斯的未来超模
achievement and title.
Commonly Asked Questions
Do you still need to pay gold for transmogging?
Yes. Early in Alpha it seemed you could transmog anywhere you were no matter what by just opening the transmog pane. This has since changed and while you can still open the wardrobe and see what items you have and see what they look like and make outfits, it doesn't transmog the gear from this window. You need need to visit the transmog vendor or the transmog vendor mount.
Is it true that we have to visit a transmogger in order to hide helm and cloak now?
Yes, in order to hide helm, cloak, and now shoulders, you will need to visit the transmog vendor and hide them through that. You won't be able to hide them through the interface options anymore.
When you buy items or pick up items, how do you know that if it gets added to the Wardrobe?
For new items you get a prompt in your chat window.
Does the new wardrobe system help look up items?
Yes. If you go through the wardrobe and there is a helm you like the look of, it will show you what that helm is, where it can be found and what items share the same look.
Saving "outfits" is also a new feature. Do "outfits" get shared across character?
As of this post, No. When you save an outfit on one character it only stays on that character.
What are "Transmog Sets"? How do they work?
Transmog Sets will be in a new tab in the Transmog UI. These will help you keep track of which sets you have collected for your class and spec. You will be able to scroll through PvE and PvP sets for your class to see which sets and items from sets you've collected and which you haven't. Mousing over items from a set that you haven’t collected will also indicate whether the item is a world drop, available from a vendor, or a boss drop as well as display other items that are using the same appearance.
Are ALL sets included in the Set Tab in game?
No. The basic Raid and PvP sets are in the UI but not as extensive as here on Wowhead. On the site, you'll have a much more extensive collection to view including recolours and lookalike sets. Additionally, the in game UI will not include sets such as sets from dungeons, questing, crafted armor, or classic world drops.
What items are added to my Appearance Tab? What restrictions are there?
Here will will go over a few common questions that players have involving the new system, and even go through some questions that have been answered before just to help refresh the memory.
Will I have to re-collect transmog items that I already have in my bank or inventory in order for it to be added to the wardrobe?
Nope. Any items you have in your inventory will be added to the wardrobe and you will not have to re-collect anything that you are currently holding on to.
What about quest items?
Any quests that you did in the past or in Shadowlands, if the quest presented you with choosing either an axe, sword, or shield, then the wardrobe will register all 3 of those items. So that that includes the one you picked as well as the ones you did not choose.
So I can't unlock a tier item in my wardrobe that isn't for my class?
Correct. However many tiers have look-a-like items in the same raid and different color variations. So if you can collect and equip the look-a-likes then you can essentially get the tier items. This doesn't hold true for older raid tiers since those are much more unique. A notable exception is Tier 3 armor acquired via the Black Market Auction House--that armor was not class-specific at the time it was created, and it would be unfair to restrict it in Shadowlands.
What about things we can't equip?
Short answer, No. Long answer, essentially let's say you play a Death Knight. If a quest reward offers you a shield, or you loot a shield, that shield will not be added to your wardrobe. If you cannot equip the item, it will not be added. That being said, even if a Death Knight can equip a cloth helm, it still will not be added to your wardrobe because it is not meant for your class, at the same time, the if you got Class:Warrior tier, it still won't count. So to clarify, you must be able to equip the item, it must be of your primary armor type, and it must be able to be obtainable and equipped by your class. Once these terms are met, then the item will be added to your wardrobe.
So is the system account wide?
Basically yes. However that is if the items were added to the wardrobe. If you are a Deathknight and found a wand, it means it did not get added to the wardrobe, so when you log on your Mage, it will not be available to you. However, if you have obtained a sword, then when you log on a Warrior, that sword is available in the wardrobe for you. Tabards and shirts, for example, are account-wide.
How about items with the "Cosmetic" classification?
Anything that reads "Cosmetic" on the item will unlock in the wardrobe across all of your characters.
Warlord's completed all gold challenge modes. What happens with the weapon appearances?
If you completed all gold challenge modes, you will be able to purchase
军械:德拉诺挑战者的武器
for 3,000 gold. Using this item will unlock all the weapon appearances in your wardrobe account wide.
And how about Mists of Pandaria Challenge Mode Gear?
As of this post, those stay the same in regards to only the class/character you obtained the gear can wear it. However, there are new versions that came out in Legion that look similar but have a couple noticeable changes, such as color, shoulders, and no effects.
Can you transmog over your new artifact weapon?
Yes. You are able to transmog your older favorite weapons and change your artifact weapons.
How about Reputation items? Like Laughing Skulls masks that are Cosmetic or Ashran gear?
In patch 8.1 of Battle for Azeroth this was changed so there are no longer reputation requirements on transmog appearances. For example, your main has obtained the
乌瑞恩先锋军战袍
, now your Alliance alts can also transmog their tabards to that appearance! You can read more about it
here.
Do white items or gray items that get added to the wardrobe?
Only items that are marked as Cosmetic. The remaining items will not be added, but their appearances will be added if you collect an uncommon, rare, or epic item with that look.
What about holiday items?
Starting in patch 7.2, many holiday cosmetic items were flagged as
Cosmetic
, meaning they now can be transmogged to! You can find more info on that change
here
. Some of the inclusions were Winter Veil socks, Midsummer crown, and the Pilgrim's Hat.
Shirts and Tabards were added to the transmog group. Do they work the same as gear transmog or do you need to equip them?
For items that are Bind on Equip, which are many shirts, you need to equip them in order to learn the appearance. Tabards are BoP and their appearance will be added as soon as you obtain the item.
We know about deleted quest reward items being added retroactively. How about items that are crafted from patterns that are no longer obtainable?
Deleted appearances related to only the questing system will be added retroactively to the Wardrobe.
If one item has 2-3 color variations, will collecting one of the items, unlock all color variants?
No other color variants will be unlocked if you collect one color. If you collect the red color, then you only unlock the red color, not the blue or green.
Warlocks used to save weapons for their Felguard, does this effect the Wardrobe at all? Or will we have to continue to save weapons in our bags like how current live is?
Warlocks will need to continue to hold onto those weapons. Same as it is on live currently.
Can I highlight the appearances I like the most?
Yes! You can set your most beloved appearances as
Favorite
in the transmog menu by right clicking the appearance and selecting 'Favorite'. Doing so will make those appear first in the appearance listings.
Is there a level requirement for transmogging some items?
As of this post Yes. There are a few items that appear with a red boarder and a level requirement.
Can I transmog an item even if I am too low level to equip it on an alt?
Yes- the level ranges mimic the level scaling ranges added in 7.3.5. Here is the level breakdown:
Battle for Azeroth Expansion
At level 1 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 60 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 60 - includes Tier 1 and 2
At level 58 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 80 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 80 - includes Black Temple and Icecrown Tier
At level 80 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 90 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 90 - includes MoP Challenge Mode set
At level 90 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 100 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 100 - includes WoD Challenge Weapons
At level 98 you can transmog to appearances found on gear requiring up to level 110 to equip.
Transmog Sets up to 110 - all Legion styles
How Can Wowhead Help with Transmog?
How can I see gear models?
Wowhead has a unique 3D modelviewer which allows you to preview any piece of gear. You can view an item, or group of items, by hitting "View 3D" on item, itemset, and transmog set pages. You can preview your character's complete appearance using the
Dressing Room
. You can also select the default race/gender on the modelviewer under User Settings.
How can I see weapon models?
You can now filter weapons in the database and view them in gallery mode at the same time on the new
Weapon Transmog
page!
For example if you want to see epic One-Handed Swords that can drop from trash and bosses from Ulduar, on the left side you would add a new filter "Drops in... (Zone)" and "Ulduar", and on the right side you would select "One-Handed Swords" and "Epic".
What appearances perfectly match each other?
The
Transmog Set Database
shows gear that exactly matches in game, ranging from raid sets to BoEs. While not the most creative, this is a good first step to find gear.
What goes well with my unique piece of armor or weapon?
The "Transmogrified with" tab on any item or transmog set page will show the top 4 matches from Battle.net, organized by important slots, for that item. For example, all transmog sets will offer weapon suggestions, while belt pages will recommend matching pants. This is great for weapons or capes, which are not part of official transmog sets.
The "Outfits" tab on any item or transmog set page will link to
user-created outfits
that use a particular item.
How can I create my own outfit on my character and share it?
Go to the
Dressing Room
and there will be options to add gear for each slot, or modify your character's appearance. To preview gear coming in a future patch, visit the Shadowlands version of the page.
When you are logged in, hitting the "Save" option on the Dressing Room page will save it to the Outfit section.
How can I browse interesting outfits for inspiration?
The
Outfits
section is a collection of user-submitted transmog sets. You can filter them by class, race, and gender and browse them by image gallery.
How can I see what all gear for a particular slot looks like?
When browsing a
filtered list in the items database
, hit the "Gallery" option before the long list of items. This will bring up pictures of each image, and you can click on them to open each in the modelviewer.
How can I see what gear shares an appearance, or has the same look across colors?
The "Same Model As" tab on any item page will show images of other items that have an identical appearance, both of the same color or other colors.
How can I find exactly what transmog appearance I am looking for?
With Patch 7.2, we've improved searching for outfits on Wowhead by renaming some outfits to follow Blizzard's naming conventions. These naming changes were made so you could look at a set in-game and then find it easily on Wowhead.
All The Things - Transmog Addon
All The Things is an addon made to help obsessive World of Warcraft collectors. ATT supports tracking of appearances, illusions, mounts, pets, toys, music rolls, and titles. In addition to showing you items you have already collected, ATT will let you know what you still need to collect - you can view raid and dungeon drops, world event and achievement rewards, vendors, rares, quests, and more.
How To Use:
To configure ATT, click the minimap icon or type /att. The main settings page has overall display and database options- essentially “How many things do you want to see?” From here, you can choose whether you want to enable ATT tooltip information, whether you want to see or hide collected items, and whether you want to run on Completionist/hardcore mode, Unique/casual mode (uncheck the “Completionist” box), or if you want to tell ATT that you only care about your main.
There are more detailed options in the “Filters” section, where you can choose specific things to track. From here, you can filter out specific armor types you’re uninterested in collecting, music rolls if you don’t want to re-collect them on your alts, recipes if you don’t care about professions, and much more. There are also lots of options here for filtering out unobtainable items (old rewards from Blizzard promotions, gear that was removed, things that are only available on the Black Market Auction House or Blizzard In-Game Store, and even Elite/Gladiator gear from PvP).

This is an awesome guide, and answered a lot of my nagging questions - thank you! I'm still wondering about a clarification:
Regarding quest rewards, many quests give you the option of multiple rewards, all of DIFFERENT armor types. For example, as a DK, having completed a quest and having chosen a plate helm, would I still have the leather, cloth and mail quest reward options added to my wardrobe, or does that violate the "main armor type" rule?
Also, as Shaman, Warriors, Hunters, and other class "upgrade" armor types at level 40, would they get the initial armor types added (e.g. Leather on a Shaman, or Mail on a Warrior)? If so, will this happen only until level 40? Also at max level?
Thanks again!

Loads of unnecessary restrictions. Major feedback against requiring us to be the precise armor class to unlock an item was received and apparently disregarded. This is a cosmetic only system. It is not downing raid bosses, and should not be treated like it is.
The guide also doesn't quite answer my main questions on outfits. How many can we have, and especially, do we need to pay gold to swap to them? Or just one time to set them up? If we have to pay gold to swap xmog like on live, this whole system is pretty pointless outside of saving space.

Thank you for collecting this many information on the transmoging, but I have some unanswered questions yet.
In the wardrobe it shows which skin has been collected, but will that be shown on the actual items in the inventory/loot table (I mean like with the toys/mounts), and according to this, can I track the progresson in skins that not aviable to my class, for example as paladin I loot a green boe staff, will I be able to track it on this char, or I must send it to my mage to be sure that it has been already learnt.
The other question can I have more than one set on my char at the same time, I mean for example on my prot/retri paladin I would like to use different sets for each specialization, will I be able to do that?
According to the new restrictions, I hope they will put back the helm/cloak option to the interface menu.

I WILL be UPDATING this with questions people have that they leave in the comments as I get more information in or as things change.

Thanks for the guide, I still have a question though: whenever I get a BoE item, is it added to the appearence collection right away, or does it have to become soulbound?
In other words, will it be possible to send an interesting BoE item to my friends to share its appearence?

Removing hide cloak and hide helm from the interface sounds like a step backwards. I often change that on-the-go as I get upgrades while leveling.

Am I the only one wondering if pvp gear unlocks cross faction? For example, if I have the alliance warlords season 3 plate helm, does that unlock for the horde version also or do I have to buy the horde version since it's technically a separate item?

Do we yet know if we will have to buy all the brawlers arena shirts BEFORE the pre-patch or will the vendor still be there? I ask as a person who has highly limited bagspace and holding that many shirts is gonna suck.

The need to go to a transmogger in order to hide the helm/cloak/shoulders is totaly stupid, who got that silly idea?
They clearly said Mop challenge gear would be unlocked throughout the account, i see they running back.
You must meet all requirements on that character in order to use that transmog item. This includes Reputation.
Uber stupid idea, we already do struggle to have those items once, why should we have to meet the reputation requirement again? And again? And again?
It's like the reputation requirement for using toys, really?
Requirement of class, of level, this is a normal thing, but reputation? No, i'm sorry but it's simply stupid.

I saw that you will be updating when you have more information. I have some questions that I would like to know the answers to, if possible.
Insofar as the retroactive crediting of completed quest rewards, will this apply to quest rewards from quests that have been removed from the game and marked as obsolete (e.g.: quests that existed in the pre-Shattering world)? How far back does this feature extend?
There exist quite a few shirts in-game, including (as an example) those that were class-specific and came equipped on your newly-made character several expansions ago. I collect shirts and have them stored away in a guild bank. Will they change to BoE or BoP when the pre-patch hits, or will they continue to have the capacity to be worn and traded freely amongst characters? Will they be receiving the "cosmetic" tag?
Will legendary item appearances be added to the wardrobe (even if they cannot be applied to other items of the same type)?
With the upcoming changes to the PvP system, will old PvP gear be available to buy for transmogrification purposes? If so, will the required currency become gold instead of honour or conquest points?
Let's say I loot an item that is BoE that is my armour type. Does it get added to my wardrobe simply because I have acquired it in my inventory, or must I equip it first? Essentially, must gear items that are found in the world outside of questing be equipped in order to be added to the wardrobe?

Thank you for doing this. Are you able to clarify;
I have a ton of soul-bound gear, on multiple characters. So assuming all that stuff in my bank is added to the wardrobe, does it then disappear from my bank or do I get to sell/delete it?
Assume I have a mage and a lock. I have a soul-bound cloth item on mage, it is added to wardrobe. Would my warlock have access to it as well assuming it was just cloth and not mage only?
In a nutshell, I farm for a pair of boots that I like, do I have to do it twice, one for each cloth wearer.
Again, thank you for the effort :)

I'm a little confused regarding tier items. For an easy example:
The Helm of Might (tier 2) drops for my warrior. Can I now only use that appearance for my warriors?
But if I get the heirloom look-a-like I can transmog it to all my plate-wearers?
What I'm basically asking is:
Does it unlock the appearance to everyone if the item already has a look-a-like in-game?

So, just to clarify, say I run Ulduar on my priest, and a BoP plate chest drops. It sounds like it

Who else was disappointed that white and gray items weren't going to be included? Certainly myself. I was finally hoping that the dapper worgen top hat from their starting zone was finally going to be put to some use...but nope, only my worgen get to be fancy in their hats. =( I was even hoping that the starter robe for night elf druids might make it in there...it's a unique skin, but it's a white item. At least the starter robe for night elf mages has an equivalent green item.
They're already doing so much coding for everything else...just an honest question because I don't know, but would it really be that much more work to add in the white and gray items too? I would think it would just be that much more stuff that people wouldn't have to keep in their bags.
As excited as I am that they're changing the transmog system so that it's basically a "spellbook" of appearances, I'm not looking forward to going back and dragging a clothie through for the Old World Loremaster. I'm hoping having a hunter with all the expansion Loremasters, plus the Old World Loremaster, will have scooped up most of the transmog weaponry and mail...so I'll have to go back and make sure I've done everything on my druid, my DK, and my mage or warlock to gather up the rest. Sigh. Things to do between LFR and dungeons, I guess. At least the druid's been pulling her weight on the leather and quested like a fiend from day one. Can't say the same for my plate and cloth wearing minions. >_< I just hate having to do those quests where you have to bring a mob down to almost no hit points in order to subdue them...they are almost impossible to do at 100.

Great, so all those items I sold because I ran out of bag space or whatever the case was I will have to loot all over again...love the new transmog system but I wish it would give us the loot we sold back as well just like how their gonna give us back the quest item loot for our wardrobe.

Several people seem to have questions about the soulboundness of items, so could that be added to the article proper? The comments where it has been asked have consistently had the same answers -- that to be unlocked for transmog the original item has to not only be soulbound but also useable -- so it'd be good to have that up top in the official article.

I read somewhere that we need to Achieve all of the Loremaster achievements to unlock the wardrobes for Legion...but not only that...but we also need to achieve Loremaster for each Armor class type character to unlock each armor class for the wardrobes in Legion.
Is this still true? If so...or even NOT so...please explain how we acquire and are able to use/unlock the wardrobe for Legion?

In my opinion (theorically) if you are farming non-class items, you should use for clotm mage/warlock, for leather druid/rouge, for mail hunter, for plate warrior. This way probably all weapon types are covered, especially with the warrior.

Here's what I'm curious about:
So we're getting given all the quest reward gear for previously completed quests, if we can equip it.
Does that include the "hidden" quests that complete when we kill a Vignette mob in Warlords, that prevent up from re-obtaining the drop after the fact?
In other words, if I've obtained
践踏之蹄
from killing
怒蹄
, and have sold it, will it show up in my Transmog or not?

So...as a hunter I went back and did some of the old quests to get the mail gear eg
http://www.cuckhead.com/transmog-set=1083/counterfeit-mail
. Will that mail gear go away, or will it remain and new gear for plate wearers be put into the old quests?
I am just wondering if I need to do all those quests on my mail wearers to ensure I don't lose any....

What about account-bound or battle.net-bound items? Will those be added to the wardrobe?
Examples:
雪怒之矛
, gear from archaeology?
仿制的雄狮之牙
, items from promotions?

hey, I just read the article and its great and very informative.
I was wondering about the MoP challenge mode gear sets. Just making sure if my warrior gear I got for my Orc warrior will be available for my Tauren. I saw and read about the class hall gear look alike, I just think the MoP one looks a bit better.
Also this goes way back to classic, will the most epic axe be available? The Whirlewind Axe
旋风之斧
. Not the cheap recolors, but the classic one from the lvl 30 warrior berserker stance quest chain.

Will this apply to
all
armors that you get from quests/vendors? That being things like the lv 85 armor vendors from MoP? Also, I would like to know if you'll be able to transmog common items, yet? I've always loved the Blood Elf starting zone armor, and with the new shoulder hiding ability, that'd make for a pretty great transmog, honestly.

Three Questions:
Will wardrobe items be available for both factions? As in, If I got a rare item from a dungeon on an Alliance character, would my Horde characters be able to transmog to it as well?
If yes, then:
Will quest items for one side, such as
基沙恩的弓
, be available in the wardrobe for members of the opposing faction? As in, if I played through and got the above item on an Alliance hunter, would I be able to transmog it to my Horde hunter?
Also, will the Wardrobe system be realm wide? As in, if I had a character on the realm Perenolde who got a rare item from a dungeon and it was added to my wardrobe, would my character on the realm Illidan be able to use the same item for transmog?

Q - So is it account wide?
A - Basically yes.
This is 5th question down. This answer makes NO sense. Is the 'obtained' sword put into this wardrobe? If the deathknight found the wand and PUT it in the wardrobe could it THEN be seen on a mage?

Not sure if this was asked but. I have a question about the transmog system in legion. Are you able to transmog your plate to look like cloth. As in the restrictions.. Since some classes can equip Leather, Cloth and Mail is it possible for Paladins to look like mages or Death Knights look like warlocks. Though a warrior has a better chance looking like a caster since they can use staves.

One the one hand it's logical you won't collect all color variations of an item if you collect just one of the colors, on the other hand, some color options for raid gear will not be available any more if you're lv 100 since raid finder for pandaria will be unavailable. I hope if you get the 'heroic' or 'normal' color variants of raid gear, you'll unlock the 'raid finder' color too..

Making holiday items exempt from transmog would seem to make those items utterly irrelevant. I'm unlikely to forego my chest armor to wear my holiday sweater, and I don't maintain a 'roleplay armor' set anymore. But if I could transmog my sweater onto my actual chest armor, I'd definitely 'wear' it during Winterveil.

I reviewed the questions and one that I do not see is what will happen to a saved transmog appearance from a quest if the character who completed the quest is deleted after the appearance has been recorded.
For example the
Seryls Robes
is available from a specific Worgen quest. If after 7.0 hits and the appearance is saved in my journal will it remain if I delete my Worgen that completed the quest?
Also, sadly I nearly had Loremaster on a couple of toons before Cataclysm hit and I've done very little world questing since that time. I haven't seen anything specific to those but my best guess is those quest rewards will not be made available?

Or if you get an item, and you sell it off because it isn't upgrade for you, will it still be in your wardrobe list? Or if you by lower level tier gear from vendor, just to have the transmog look, is there a time limit that you have to keep the item before you can sell it back? Or will it be a "learned" look item?

I can never understand why games limit people, or as I see it punishing their subscribers. I don't see the harm in transmogging a lower level character with lvl 80 gear; I was really excited about this account bound bs til I read there are limitations. Also why do we have to pay to transmog still; is it really helping wow economy that much? Just seems like another limitation placed on subscribers. Third why do we have to go to the transmog vendor to transmog or to remove shoulder, head and cloak? I am assuming that we have to pay gold to remove looks too. It is just another limitation that they don't need to place on subscribers, but do. Do the transmog vendors have little digital families that they need our gold to place digital food on the table?
Blizzard needs to get with the times and realize that people enjoy conveniences as opposed to drudgery; many games are removing the things that companies like blizzard are did to make a game more difficult (but in reality were just more annoying), blizz should too.

As a matter of fact, I haven't had some of these items on my toon in YEARS...they were either sold or destroyed and they're just gone. Simple question for someone on the PTR. Do Cata-quest rewards like
军团士兵纳兹戈林的砍斧
automatically transfer to
泰勒上尉的砍斧

It's an important question because it means either you redo all the Cata quests on another faction character or you don't if you want all the gear transmogs.

I love the new transmog system, but there is still one issue. When you mog the "item" it only applies to said item. Would much rather it be able to be mogged to the slot, i.e. head, chest, feet, etc. not the item itself. As is, you still have to go back and remog each time you replace an item. But if you could mog the "slot" then it wouldn't matter if you are replacing your gear, you would retain your mog.
C'mon Blizz make it happen! Worst part of leveling (besides the grind LOL) is mismatched gear

I have plenty of cloth and leather items on my warrior that I use for RP and would like to have on my other toons, some of them are really hard to get drops. Now I have to still farm them on a cloth-user of a leather-user. Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade, just an annoyance.

A - Any quests that you did in the past or in Legion, if the quest presented you with choosing either an axe, sword, or shield, then the wardrobe will register all 3 of those items. So that that includes the one you picked as well as the ones you did not choose.

so the thing that sucks the most is, as I understand it - if I finished a quest, all the items are available. BUT - if I did the quest on my hunter, and the awards were all plate/cloth/not "intended", this will NOT get added to the wardrobe, because it's not my 'main armor'. Despite doing the quest, and choosing an item. (Sometimes I chose the pretty one, especially a robe, cause sometimes I just hang out and wear cloth because it looks nicer than most of the hunter items out there. :/ )
This is SO not what was implied by "All the quests you've ever done, you get it all, across all your characters." Blizz, this couldn't have been that difficult. *sigh*

Like... I am a hunter so I can only add and transmog mail. OK.
Go it. But...
I've noticed here on my hunter's closet that this doesn't apply to weapons. I thought I was only going to be able to add gun, bow and crossbow, because they are my primary weapons, but she actually has all her other weapons I used to keep for looks added too. Like for example, Quel Delar. She has it added to her closet.
So I have to ask this before I vendor stuff and risk losing things...
Everything a hunter can equip in terms of weapons is added automatically to her closet and not just gun/bow/crossbow right? Meaning that all the swords, daggers, fist weapons, staff, off hands, etc that she kept for looks are added too and it is safe to vendor them, right?

One thing I didn't see in the write-up and that I haven't seen in my quick read of the comments:
Timers on the objects are rather pertinent. Items that can be sold back for a full refund (usually with a timer) won't count for achievements until the timer runs out, nor will new appearances from tradable items in raid.
If you receive one of these, you see the item appearance added message. If you sell back or trade it, you see an item appearance removed message.
Not sure if destroying an item before the timer runs out will make it move over to the achievement count; too late for me to check that on my account.

Really quick question about a certain set of weapons, namely the ones from the Argent Tournament. As there isn't a de facto "reputation" in the tournament, I perhaps thought that if I purchase a weapon with seals from the tourney, I can use it on another toon without restrictions (save level, faction, etc.) However, I purchased
先知的双刃刀
on my hunter, only to be unable to use it on my paladin of the same level/faction. I assume this is because she is NOT on the same "stage" of the tournament as my hunter. Is this working as intended, or a bug? Hoping not to have to joust on 5 different toons to use these rather unique weapon skins.

Wow, what is the point in this? They finally add account wide transmog and them put arbitrary restrictions on it!

So, I didn't see this in the guide or comments, but I feel like it's a pretty important piece of information to know:
You can only save 20 outfits in the transmog menu.
If you want to make more than that, you're going to need to get an addon like Outfitter or something that will allow you to save more.

Anyone know what happens if I delete a character that added items to my wardrobe? Do the skins stay in my account wardrobe, or do they go bye-bye?

What stages of Warlords crafted gear have difference appearances? It mostly seems to me like 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all different, but that 5 and 6 are the same as 4. Is this correct across the board? Unfortunately I'm seeing some conflicting information out there.

I may have missed the answer to this in the list of answers/replies if it is a duplicate I apologize.
During BC I obtained a full D1 set for my warlock, did the questline to turn it into D2 gear which I still have and never got rid of the actual items.
Since I obviously looted the D1 set as it was needed to convert into D2 gear will I have full D1 and D2 available?
Likewise there were warlock quest items, the staff from Felwood in particular, that you cannot get anymore as the questline to tame infernals and doomguards have long been removed. Are those items going to be available as well?

MOST OFF-HAND TRANSMOGS DO NOT WORK CORRECTLY.
Below is a response from Blizzard after I spent like 500 gold on three that did not work.
THEY DO SHOW UP PROPERLY IN THE TRANSMOG PREVIEW BUT NOT ON YOUR CHARACTER AFTER SPENDING THE GOLD AND APPLYING THEM.
This is a major bug that I hope they deal with quickly.
From Blizzard:
"Now, I’ve been looking over this and investigating the issue with the off-hand. I went in and did quite a bit of testing with quite a few different off hands. Every off hand I used for transmog, would not show up while sheathed.
"On my end, I've gone ahead and reported this information up to our QA department as a bug to be looked into. At this time we don't have an ETA as to when this will be resolved but we are working diligently to get this working as soon as possible. I also want to encourage you to submit an in game bug report, even though I’ve already reported the information up, this will help us get more visibility on it so we can get it taken care of faster."

Adding this here as I have not found an answer previously. It seems that you can only save 20 outfits per character. + New Outfit option disappears when you have 20 outfits saved.

I would like to know this. How do things GET in the Sets tab? My huntress has a total of 44 sets (collected or not) that I can go looking for
My Demon Huntress only has 6. Is it because she hasn't done any quests below 98? They should still be listed uncollected?
I would love to know how to get more outfits in there.

So with this new transmogrify set feature, I should be able to go a 'mog shop, and and if I click on the "Sets" tab I should be able to see sets of gear that I have collected (on that character) over the years correct?
My hunter main (202 days played since right before BC launched) only shows the "unseen marksman" set and nothing else.
My other characters seem to have nothing available.

As a death knight, is it possible for me to go into UBRS and pick up
黑手的毁灭战戟
, even though it has agility and is obviously a hunter weapon?

Hi. Why can't I transmog a fist weapon as sword/mace/axe? I'm stuck with one sword and one fist weapon at present. Just looks hopeless. It seems a pointless rule.

So the pauldrons of Winged Triumph will never be available again because the LFR mode is no longer available?
Unless it is some kind of exclusive item, like getting it from say, going to Blizcon such and such a year, it doesn't seem very fair that the item has been removed from the game and no previous method of getting it works now. I spent so many times defeating the required bosses, only to go hunting around to find out all methods of obtaining it had been deleted. I could get the other two colors, red and yellow, but blue was the only one I had wanted....

Is there a way to assign transmog to equipment slots, rather than to items?
What's the point of heritage armor if it goes away piece by piece as I upgrade my gear?

Example:
There are 494 transmog helmets for the warrior. But there are also look-alike helmets.
Does the counter counts up if I get a look-alike transmog?
Are the look-alike transmogs shown in the window also (doubled)?
With ATT many items are marked as not collected. With "Can I Mog It?" they are marked as collected.

> Do white items or gray items that get added to the wardrobe?
> Only items that are marked as Cosmetic. The remaining items will not be added, but their appearances will be added if you collect an uncommon, rare, or epic item with that look.
Seems this became wrong starting from today.
And there is also a side effect which I did not see mentioned (maybe I missed it): it seems that all transmoggable white items became BoE.

I just returned to the game after leaving early-BfA. Some gear items I've had from as far back as Cataclysm are missing from my transmog collection. Anyone know what's up with that? My all-time favorite set for my mage, Timelord's Regalia, is mostly gone. The head from both reg and heroic are there, but no chest, no shoulders, no hands, no waist, and no feet from either level. This is upsetting.
