Curiosity.......do we have any idea how the rating system will work? Will it be based on K/D, defends, captures, wins/losses as a whole, or some combination of all of these? It would suck, IMO, to base them purely off a win/loss ratio, as so much random team-assignment screwage will inevitably happen. Anybody know anything more?

I'm not positive, but it would make sense that this will be based off of win/loss ratio from rated battle grounds. I beleive rated BGs are the ones that have 15 players per side or less (no AV or other mass BGs).

This can only be obtained by 10v10 games (Warsong Gulch, Battle for Gilneas, and Twin Peaks) as 15v15 games (Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm, Strand of the Ancients) was removed as of 4.0.6 because of the lack of interest and games played compared to the aforementioned. Along with that change another noticeable one was the removal of Aura Mastery affecting Crusader Aura so that teams can no longer stack Paladins to chain it to reach say for example the Waterworks faster in the Battle for Gilneas.
Furthermore this takes some time and dedication but not to the extremes the previous way this title was earned. It is far more like arenas in the nature of it's point system but even at very high ratings you will find yourself versus low rated teams and vice versa. If you lose a battle, your Rated Battleground rating will only be reduced if that rating is currently higher than your Match Making Value (MMV). For the most part, a rating only goes up. I have only seen people lose points above a 1800+ rating typically but it does depend on the MMV. On top of that, lower rated teams will give you as little as one point earned if anything at all when winning to slow inflation of teams. The first of the titles isn't even earned until 1100 but once you get to that point, the drive becomes more satisfactory as you gain a title and achievement ever hundred points thereafter.
The grind does not require you to be in a guild as isn't a set team either but you cannot queue alone requiring premades only. There is no magic number of healers but most strong groups tend to run with three or possibly more depending on the group make up. It is a very good idea to set up a person designated to run the flag in a specific carrying spec making sure the individual joins the game last to know if they should be in it for Twin Peaks or Warsong Gulch or to be in a more desirable dps or healing spec for Battle for Gilneas. Some sort of commincation system will also likely be required and the more veteran teams will be very vocal and communicative through it.
Along with that most teams will have minimum resilience rating required to even participate with the groups typically around 2.5k but some may start even earlier with a lower team rating but the higher the team rating is usually the higher cap will go. Some groups will also not let in certain underpowered specs compared to other classes with control. Some of the best things to have are frost mages for ring of frost, rogues for spamming fan of knives to keep people of the flags or poisons to slow runners, frost death knights for hungering cold, hunters for traps, priests and warlocks of any type for fear bombs in terms of control.
Most of all it is important to listen to directions and to be very mobile as well as adaptive to whatever the team you are facing strategy is.
All in all this is still a lengthy grind but with good groups it still very achievable with some patience and good play. Remember, don't fight off flags! Best of luck and Lok'tar Ogar!

seen a level 70 twink with this today was sweet. cool you can do RBGs with twinks at that level going to so get a team together.

Your personal rating change from a win or loss is a direct function of the DIFFERENCE between enemy MMR (eMMR) and your personal rating (CR). I looked at this closely during patch 9.0 and found it to be a simple linear correlation which held true regardless of absolute rating level (data below comes from games with CR 1700-2450). Here are the key conclusions to help predict your CR change -
If eMMR vs CR = -200, then a win changes CR by +6, a loss changes CR by -18
If eMMR vs CR = -100, then a win changes CR by +8, a loss changes CR by -16
If eMMR vs CR = -50, then a win changes CR by +10, a loss changes CR by -13
If eMMR vs CR = +0, then a win changes CR by +12, a loss changes CR by -12
If eMMR vs CR = +50, then a win changes CR by +14, a loss changes CR by -11
If eMMR vs CR = +100, then a win changes CR by +15, a loss changes CR by -8
If eMMR vs CR = +200, then a win changes CR by +18, a loss changes CR by -5
