I might create a character just to try it out, but I can't see myself playing this like I would/will live. It'll be interesting to see how the community weighs in on things like QoL improvements and such.
Now, the question is; will there be an extra cost on top of the normal sub to play on this server? Will it be included in the basic sub? Will it be a separate game entirely with its own separate costs? If it's included, then I'd probably play it, but I'm not willing too if it's going to be too great a cost on top of the original game. Basic WoW can last for me, although I would probably try it out to see what it was like back in Vanilla :)
I dont think this will be an exact vanilla wow remake, because as they said, what point in vanilla wow will people expect as there were many changes between day one, and the day before TBC dropped, between the way classes worked, and even racials, like WoTF being nerfed to the ground. Personally I hope that this is as close to pre TBC wow as possible, with some QOL changes, none that effect gameplay though. Thinks like the new character models would be nice, and things like the dungeon journal would be sweet, or in dungeon maps (WC was a nightmare for new players) my personal (and selfich) hope is that even though you likley would not be able to transmog, you could still unlock removed armor sets, like the gear that droped in classic Scholomance. My even bigger question however is how will a server like this progress, two years after release will it possibly become a TBC server, or will it always be a classic server, and if not will there be a TBC/wrath server at some point? If this server will not evolve would there be a chance to migrate to an evolving server?
I will certainly give this a shot if it's going to be rolled into the normal subscription. I remember playing Vanilla a bit and I can't wait for my Tauren Hunter (Yes, I know) to be reborn.
Make it exactly like the final Vanilla patch. Leave all the bad quality of life things people take for granted now in the game - I'd forgotten mounts used to dismount in water - including the hours of tedious farming to beat the magic resist bosses.Hope there's no link between it and live - while I'd love to get the 5th missing item from my cadaverous set, I'd happily never go back.
Now the biggest questions for me would be: Are there gonna be from the start all of the raids available? Will we gonna be able to get the Black Qiraji Battle Tank?
I started playing in WOD, so i didnt have the vanilla experience. It will be cool to have it once classic servers are up.
So we don't know anything except there will be classic servers in WoW? Thanks for letting us know.
If UBRS isn't 10m and we can't pull all the whelps a la Leeroy, I'll cry!
I think that being able to unlock things like appearances and mounts on your main account by obtaining the items on a Classic realm would be an amazing addition and really promote play on the Classic servers, not that it would need all that much promoting. However, I do agree with others, it should not work in the reverse, I shouldn't be able to influence anything on the Classic server from my regular wow account.
I hope there isn't any quality-of-life later-added improvement. You know, for a true experience. And to laugh at the ones playing it :P
Really hope they don't change it much from the original aside from bugs
Ok so heres what they said:They currently do have an internal, old build working that they can play around on.They are in the process of hiring new employees for this project, and have already hired for it.So lets see, they straight up lied about not having an old build of any kind for the last several years.I am betting they hired the same folks that hosted the nilla servers (without the permission of blizzard), and as for their feedback on the whole thing, im betting that they are getting it from the same people. They probably got the build from them also. Would this not be sad if this was the case and blizz really is this terrabad?
I played during vanilla and don't plan on ever going back to it with this (I like the progress WoW made with each expac), but this does make me happy for all the people who wish they could go back or those who never got to but wanted to. It will be interesting to see how many of the people who claim vanilla was the best take it back.
Quite interesting, we'll see how it goes. However, I do not think it will be the same experience as when Vanilla actually launched back then. I think Vanilla felt awesome because it was such a "new" concept and for people that played the Warcraft games, seeing all these characters really come to life, while you could interact with them through your own character really made it something special. We don't really have the same options anymore, because the Warcraft games had a "limited" story, in which it's all kinda used up now.
Hmmm, I guess i could give the classic server a try when it comes out but I'm really not that invested in something that shouldn't and probably won't have an impact on progression in the game
Vanilla! i wasn't around for this one because i was too young, i hope they release the ledy staff again! and special bug mount quest chain too! It will be so much fun just having a new toon start over from the start of all awesome games, basically it would be hopeful that this release for old world vanilla is updated with new graphics and how it looks now a days, just like the update for starcraft was done! This will be fun just hopefully no server crashes and i hope they have more than one server per area so they wont get full and slow down.! Im so excited to see what will become from all this! lets go Blizz!
Alot of people will be happy once its released and another blow to private servers.
Never played during classic, but I'm quite curious to see how it will be! Personally I think people just love it because of nostalgia, because to me the game is getting better, both graphics and gameplay wise.
