Varian has a brief mention. I probably wouldn't call this an easter egg, but it really wouldn't have meant much at all to someone not familiar with the lore. The way the Dark Portal worked was kind of an easter egg to me, insofar as it showed what was on the other side much like portals do (though the Dark Portal itself does not). Teleports themselves worked in a way that was inconsistent with the spell as we know it in WoW.I enjoyed the movie, but in some ways felt like knowing lore was a detriment and that perhaps I would have liked it more if I weren't continually aware of how many departures they've made from what we consider canon. Even with suspending disbelief a little bit and trying to bring in the conceit of multiple timelines, it was still jarring to see all of the discrepancies. And I'm not sure how anyone would be able to make sense of Garona's implied heritage (and status among the orcs), either with or without knowing lore.
I saw the scene where they show the orcs moving through Azeroth sacking village after village as an RTS EASTER EGG. The camera is way up in the air looking straight down, like the top down views in Warcraft 1-3. You never see shots like that in movies and I feel like they deliberately did it as homage to the RTS games. Shows little orcs running from base to base some constructing towers while others attack alliance towns. It was awesome, or I was just really high lol
Anybody else noticed another awersome reference that Lothar "silences" Khadgar by holding a hand before his mouth thus interrupting his spellcasting?
the next movie needs more murlocks
I don't think the boomstick in the movie is related to Precisely Calibrated Boomstick at all, it looks nothing like it.
Am i the only one who felt the pain of the horde seeing durotan go through that?
I think they were trying to have it both ways; they wanted an Aegwynn-like character but they also wanted to name drop Alodi (Legion cross-promotion, maybe), but also because trying to explain her and Sargeras would make a non-fan's brain melt.I'm not in the Beta but I heard the room with the Alodi cube is modeled after the room in the center of Legion Dalaran. And the sky chamber Khadgar runs in to is very similar to how the Chamber of Six is described in a couple Warcraft novels. When the golem gets infused with fel energy, it reminded me of an infernal.
Oh, while we are discussing the movie - what was the intro supposed to be? I don't understand. "Orcs haven't fought humans for many years, but once..." Or however it went. Kinda seemed like it was supposed to make the movie we watched be a story being told to someone, but who? Orgrim telling A grown up Thrall what happened? Something else?
I was too busy being a fangirl to really notice stuff, but I loved the Murlocs, the Polymorph (and that it apparently only works on less-than-intelligent people) and I loved Stormwind (even if I couldn't see Metzen)I need to go watch it a second time and write stuff down, I guess.
If you plan on going through Kara in-game it does not look like the one in the movie. Even if you took 10k years of destruction and added it to the Karazhan it wouldn't even still look like the one in the game. I agree there was much to love about the movie however it's script was dull . Being a wow player it bothered the hell out of me that they spent enough time on the CGI that they couldn't faithfully recreate the locations . Stormwind isn't faithfully recreated since this movie is before WoW so statues are missing in front of the castle. Back to Kara .....why well it's one of the few places Medivh goes back too so why make it look like a smaller version of Dalaran? Kara in game is darker , everything is dead and the castle isn't even tall . So they took some liberties and blew it out of proportion . Go inside and there is no spiral stair case in the Library but in the movie there is . Not even a hint of Kara ( in-game ) is shining inside the movie cept for Morose and Medivh . Golem .......In what game do golems ever look like the one that was in the movie. Is this a Uldaman golem 1.0 ? Next up we have Draenei's but no mention of what the slaves race is . No mention why the Orc world died , Where Orcs came from , Who exactly is Gul'dan and how He got his power? . These are questions in a movie that people who don't play warcraft need answered and yet they are left wondering . Not to make this any longer than need be . Warcraft wasn't too story based when I played it , So I imagine I'll have to read the books to understand more. If this movie is going to make enough to issue a 2nd movie they need to work on the script. Acting was good , Like I tell people when giving a open minded review " Remember that Dungeons & Dragons movie back in 2000 " Yeah it better but that's not saying much .
When they cross through the portal and are floating through the twisted nether it was a good way to visually show the nether, IMO. One thing I didnt understand... when Medivh casts the spell and drains the fel from the orcs, killing them, how is Garona spared? She is chained to a drained dead orc when she is found so its not like she was out of range of the spell.
I'd count the fact that you can go through the portal only from one side as a reference to the game as well. Also the mentioning and the appearance of Blackrock Mountain (behind Durotan as he meets with the humans) could count as one as well.LE: also the flight master landing in the wall of Stormwind.
"Even before the film starts, there's an easter egg! The Blizzard logo at the opening of the film includes famous characters from different franchises hidden in the letters, like Kerrigan, Arthas, and Tracer."Starcraft and Overwatch Movie Confirmed? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!Well, hopefully. Also for Diablo, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.Imagine, in a heroes of the storm movie, all of the characters from the hopefully, all blizzard games movie, will band together to defeat the Nexus! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHH! HAHAHAHAI'm dreaming again... XD
Did you missed the red teeth of the Elves ? Those Bloodthistle addicts !
Wait. Isnt that Obelisk thing in Elwyn Forest ment to be a memento of the First war with the orcs? Acording tot he wiki it says so http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Stone_Cairn_Lake
