I play on a pretty low population server, and it is often hard for me to make money via auction house. I sell transmogs, but they take ages to sell, I think no matter how many are there on a server, you just have to be lucky and find transmog aficionados among them.
Its great to use an allied race for your bank alts, they're level 20 and can mount right away, and nightborne get a mail racial which is what mine is. I'm not real traditional with it, I keep all my current content on my main and stuff and all my old or hard to sell stuff on the bank alt. I have a lot of reagents I've just amassed that I refuse to sell until I have full stacks.
Currently in a pretty low pop server coming from one of the highest pop servers i notice it's mostly different markets that get more viable. I piece of transmog or a rare mount might sit in the AH forever, but other markets become very easy to just completely take over and drive your competitors out of the market. On the high pop server that simply wasn't possible.
I agree with having a separate character for auctions as since I started nearly a year ago to may i did all my auctions on my main. Spending bag and mailbox space on your main for auctions is not good for most things.
even though low pop servers have some adventages i still prefer high pop servers. especially servers that have some hardcore mythic raiders. transmogs and pets are long way investmens, enchants, pots and flasks always faster and guarenteed.
I moved from a low pop to a full server simply to make bank off selling rare pets and farmable mounts. some items like pets and rare mog just won't sell low pop hence the move, but I had to accept that selling mats and consumables just wouldn't be viable anymore. you have to play to the economy of your server
I usually have my toons with their proffesion's mats and sell their own crafting. I really have to order a little, to be fair. And about population, another problem is when your language isn't English, so you have to play in your language servers but even in the best case, it's pretty messed up and broken economy.
I have, indeed, been converting Spare Parts into gold with the same Cooking trick :), although they might be better spent on S.P.A.R.E Crates for the rank 3 essences and such!I know I have been in farm groups for those...at least it is all over, for now.
I've always found battle pets sell better on low pop servers. Even if not more frequently, at least for a better price because of lesser competition.
I definitely struggle to sell things a lot on a low-pop server. More annoyingly, if I'm looking for mats to craft a specific thing, some of the time there simply aren't any at all on the AH. This is especially true for Viper Fish, despite what the video claims - most of the time there are none at all available. I've been getting the majority of mine trickling in from wearing my Secret Fish Goggles in Nazjatar.I do have a bank alt - used a void elf mage to get blink and skip straight to being high enough level to use it. I've not set up a guild bank for her yet - mostly because I'm not entirely sure how to make a guild solo etc...
Multiboxing low pop servers will cause the prices to crash, and hard. Especially when you're just adding more supply to the market that has so few active players.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
For AH / bank alts, especially if you're using one that's stalled out at a lower level, they need to be an engineer for easy AH access (bonus if there's at least 50 northrend engineering: MOLL-E), and the account needs Katy's Stampwhistle. Even if you're not using multiple guild banks full of things, you can have mailboxes full of them. The portable mailbox lets you empty your bags out in the field, or plunk it down right inside the AH.
Katy Stampwhistle can be invaluable for this as well as emptying full bags while out in the world.
I've been farming Spare Parts regularly, but haven't made any gold off them yet. I'm seriously considering it after I'm done with all the Essence ranks and tinkering items, though!
How have you been picking up the Spare Parts? Have you been converting them regularly? What else are you doing on Mechagon to make some gold?yes,i have picked up a lot of spare parts because i have metal detector and revered rustbolt,i have not converted them to any food or gold-worth items,i have done nothing else than killing rares, doing operation:mechagon and dailies.
I have a bank alt set up specifically when I started playing the Herb market (and named appropriately for Herbs!) - although it's a lot different now old-world herbs are not really needed for power-leveling alchemy/inscription, used to make a lot of profit essentially fixing the price on low availability "herb-bands"Now it handles my Xmog flipping, and to make things a bit easier to manage I use another alt that I already had but don't play to handle Pets, other misc things and separate TSM settings for clearing max expires xmog flips which I mail over (I could configure it all to work on one char, but this made sense)Looking forward to next TSM update when I can set up Mailing rules using NumExpires!
Running dedicated auction alt on another account dual boxing is such a win. Easily pay its own sub just gotta be active on that second box.
I've been using Spare Parts (along with a healthy amount of Energy Cells and Chain Ignitercoils) to craft Microbot XDs. The pattern comes from the Rustbolt paragon cache, so there's a bit of a barrier to entry, which should keep the price up for a while.
I have lots of spare parts and had been wondering what to do with them. I shall definitely have to try converting them to more useful things.
