East of the Crimson Expanse in Deepholm is a long ribbon of water with pools of this fish. For most of the pools, you can land on the eastern wall and fish without any worry of a mob interrupting you. There are pools that spawn along the mushroom-side of the bank where clouds of red mist path, and these red clouds put a DOT on you which won't let you fish for ~20 seconds.

Schools of these spawn all over Deepholm.

You also have to chance to catch them from casting anywhere in Deepholm

Needlerock Chasm or Crimson Expanse would be my suggestion

These can be fished up from the lava pools in Deepholm, at a drop rate similar to the Lavascale Catfish.

How the Albino Cavefish came to survive in the lava pools and not become Charred Cavefish is anyone's guess.

For those of you who, like me, prefer pools to random fishing, there's a bunch of Albino Cavefish pools all over Needlerock Chasm, northwest of Temple of Earth. Mobs move slowly and seem to avoid most of the bigger pools, so it's easy to fish undisturbed.

These fish are highly profitable, in my experience. The red mist is a pain in the Crimson Expanse - water walking helps a lot here, to avoid both the mist and the mobs. A tour of Deepholm (i.e. the Crimson Expanse, Silvermarsh, the Fungal Deep and Needlerock Chasm) took me an hour and ten minutes, and I caught 116 albino cavefish and 14 volatile water, which on my server is worth approximately 1300g. I also completed the quest Glop, Son of Glop and did a spot of mining during that time, and I drank 5 elixirs of water walking, which adds up to a total profit of around 1.5k.

Me being someone who prefers idle fishing (while watching something) I did a test in random open water in Deepholm in the Needlerock Chasm.
I fished 1 hour, had maxed fishing, the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole, the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat and it's lure.
Here are the results:
131 Sharptooth
80 Lavascale Catfish
20 Volatile Water
27 Albino Cavefish
No junk, surprisingly.
Edit: Total casts number 249.

As you can see, it's pretty much a waste. Try the method of flying from pool to pool, much more efficient.

By far the best place is Needlerock Chasm in Deepholm, the schools are everywhere. I got 2 stacks in 30 mins!

Needlerock Chasm is a great spot. AS LONG AS YOU FISH THE POOLS you should have a very high drop rate. I'm not talking about just casting into any old water. My experience was as such:

19 casts:

-18 Albino Cavefish
-2 Volatile Water

Basically 100% drop rate except rare Volatile Water, which is valuable drop anyway. I have a 525 fishing skill and a Bone Fishing Pole.
