Caught 4-5 in a row (Then a few random fish inbetween) at the Stormwind Harbor > Northrend pier

I would recommend these for raising cooking at 50 (Recipe can be purchased at the recipe master in Stormwind) since its two birds with one stone, getting your fishing up while collecting cooking mats.

I also noticed I was collecting Oily Blackmouths every so often, too, which are used for Blackmouth Oil (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/spell=7836), a mat for a few kinds of useful potions -

~ Free Action Potion which makes one immune to Stun and Movement Impairing effects for the next 30 sec.
~Swim Speed Potion which increases swim speed by 100% for 20 sec.
~Elixir of Water Breathing which allows the imbiber to breathe water for 30 min.

57 raw rainbow albacore (1 in 2 drop rate)
14 oily blackmouth (1 in 8 drop rate)
41 raw slitherskin mackerel (1 in 3 drop rate)

The raw rainbow albacore can be used for cooking from skill level 50+. And, the oily blackmouth fetches a nice price on the auction because of alchemy. Oily Blackmouth is used for 3 different potions as mentioned by Cush1337.

Do you have to fish in schools or can they be caught in just the water?

Can also be fished along the coast of Silverpine Forest. And they can also be caught just in the water, no schools required. Im not even sure if they exist. Found some oily blackmouth schools along the coast as well.

Fished up hella lots on the merchant coast, just fishing, not from a school. Coord: 72, 88

Fished off pier at Stormwind to help increase cooking skills. Fishing level 315. Fished with lure for 10 minutes and didn't get one. Brilliant fish, catfish and mud snappers galore but no albacore.

These fish are a very common catch in the waters around the new Darkmoon Island zone coming in the 4.3 patch.

I followed rah55's advice and went to the tiny island off Westfall on the Longshore and caught loads of these at 26.16!

Decided to fish for these to skill up cooking. I went to ratchet and fished in the open sea with ~130 fishing skill and no lures.

With 200 catches, this is what I caught:

46.5% (93) x Raw Rainbow Fin Albacore
35.5% (71) x Raw Slitherskin Mackerel
17.0% (34) x Oily Blackmouth
1.0% (2) x Junk

WOTLK-Classic - Fished for 2 hours in Wetlands at around 3AM server-time:

157 Oily Blackmouth (26%)
381 Rainbow Fin Albacore (63%)
63 Firefin Snapper (10%)

El's Fishing site claims Wetlands has a Oily Blackmouth drop chance of 30% but this seems slightly inaccurate.
