Significantly better than any ICC fist weapon, and pretty much every other slow one-hand ICC weapon. I'm certainly making two of these for my enhance shaman, and I'd imagine they'd be quite popular among combat rogues and feral druids.

The itemization for this has to be wrong. It has way higher DPS than other greens or even blues of it's required level and item level both. I think blizz screwed this one up in our favor for now. Combat rogues and Enhancement shammies get in your deeps while you can...

Prices are going to very based on your server (and how late into the expansion you're reading this), but you can make some insane gold with these. To give a quick idea...

Just purchased 36 Carnelian gems off the AH for about 30g each, spending 1,100g total to craft these with the Jeweler's Settings.

Disenchanting results:

You receive loot: x3.
You receive loot: x2.
You receive loot: x2.
You receive loot: x2.
You receive loot: x3.
You receive loot: x2.
You receive loot: x3.
You receive loot: x3.
You receive loot: x3.
You receive loot: x3.
You receive loot: x3.

27x and 7x , which will fetch about 2000g on my server. I was slightly lucky with those disenchanting results in not getting a little more dust, but still insane and easy profit either way.

Currently the best way to generate Greater Celestial Essences.

Looks to be the only green weapon that's crafted.

As has been stated, these puppies are great for enhancement shaman. However, weapon imbue glows do not show on them. I would submit a picture of the lack of glows, but I guarantee it would underwhelm.

Disenchanting is getting me much better mats then it says up there... i did it 6 times
i got 8 Greater Celestial essences and 9 Hypnotic dust. On my server this is way worth it.

Disenchanting information is closer to this:

75-80% likelihood: 2-3 Greater Celestial Essence
20-25% likelihood: 2-5 Hypnotic Dust

If you have a Jewelcrafter and an Enchanter, this is the easiest way to make money in the game.

It is correct that this item is the best DE item so far this expansion. At the very least from jewelcrafting. For most servers, it should be quite profitable, even if you buy the Carnelian straight off the Auction House, though it is much better using the Carnelian you get from prospecting as it's the best usage for said gem.

The numbers from WoWhead are incorrect for some reason. The numbers I've received from a small sample size are as follows:

Number of Carnelian Spikes disenchanted: 130
Greater Celestial Essences received: 246
Hypnotic Dust received: 99

Data:
Number of Greater Celestial Essences per disenchant: 1.89
Number of Hypnotic Dust per disenchant: 0.76

The amount of Greater Celestial Essences ranged from 2-3 and the amount of Hypnotic Dust ranged from 2-5.

I will continue to update this until I have a much more sufficient sample size.

According to my Enchantrix data, I've disenchanted 288 of these.

To summarise,
217 of these became (#52719) Greater Celestial Essence, total 554
71 of these became (#52555) Hypnotic Dust, total 234

If I do get dusts, I would get on average 2.589 of them.
If I get essences, I would get 3.296 of them.

Overall, each gave me 1.923 essences and 0.816 dusts.

Wowhead is way off on disenchanting drops I just made and DE's 70 or so of these, got just over 16 (yes you read that right) stacks of Greater Celestial Essence that's an average of 300% profit off of each one of these that I made (cost about 18g a piece to make, most will drop anywhere from 2-3 essences which are worth about 18g a piece on average but sometimes up to 30g a piece on my server).

im buying carnelians for 375g a stack, essences range from 70-85g on my realm. im more than doubling my money easy peasy

It seems as though the Carnelian Spikes don't get to benefit from the Bountiful Bags guild perk when they give essences. I DE'd 145 of these and got some doubles on the Hypnotic Dusts, but never got a proc for extra Greater Celestial Essences. I do, however, get extra Lesser Celestial Essences from disenchanting Jasper Rings and Alicite Pendants.

I have the bountiful bags bonus. I bought carnelians and made 15 carnelian spikes. I then DE'd 15 Carnelian Spikes and got:
32 Greater Celestial Essence
17 Hypnotic Dust

So on average, 1 Carnelian spike gave me:
2.13 Greater Celestial Essence
1.13 Hypnotic Dust

On my server (Korialstrasz), the mean price over 2 weeks (according to undermine journal) of Carnelians is 31.42. The average price of Greater Celestial Essence is 53.73. 1 Carnelian spike is 3 carnelians and 3 jeweller's setting. Doing the math, that'd be 98.76 per carnelian spike.

If I get 2.13 GCE per Carnelian spike, its worth 114.45, so I'd be getting 14.68 gold per Carnelian Spike generated.
