Finally, a faster way to get the damn JC tokens!
Between the one-token Daily and the impossible-to-find Broken Necklaces (which seem to only reveal themselves to price-gougers), getting JC designs can be very time-consuming.

Prospected 1000 stacks on the PTR (yes, really, I moved my entire stockpile to my second accounts bank alt, and moved it 4 times, Yay for macros and lego button-pressing machines is all I can say)
Recieved 2953 Titanium Powder in total, That number might be slightly wrong

Round this slightly to 3000 and it comes out as 3 dust per stack average.

So expect 10 Stacks to give 3 Tokens

A single prospect can produce 0,1, or 2 tokens

I'm surprised that more people haven't done research on this into the same numbers

Just prospected 66 stacks of Titanium Ore(roughly 264 prospects) and recieved the following:

Titanium Powder: 202, which would be 20 daily tokens. Roughly 5 Epic Designs

Cardinal Ruby(red): 7

Majestic Zircon(blue): 15
Eye of Zul(green): 16
Amertrine(orange): 11

Each stack of Titanium was bought on my server for about 150g. Damaged Necklaces normally range from 275 - 150, average is about 250 however.

You can get up to 2 epic gems per prospect, and like others said 0, 1 or 2 dust per prospect. I got 8 dust from one stack alone.

Titanium ore goes for any anywhere from 80-135g a stack on my server but I can see the price creeping up in the last few weeks since 3.2 is getting closer. There's going to be a mad run for this in a big way for all of us that can prospect, combined with smelting Titan Steel it's going to go through the roof in price. I may take a break from my titansteel daily smelting and use all my ore to see what I get from it when the patch drops. Even getting a couple of the new gems will still have you making money off it probably more so than what TitanSteel does now.

How the heck do you gather that much Titanium ore? I just spent 3 hrs. in Icecrown, Sholazar and Wintergrasp mid-morning and gathered 420 Saronite ore, but only 7, yes, SEVEN Titanium ore (that's individual ore; not stacks). Has the most recent patch decreased the number of Titanium ore spawns?

With titanium ore going for close to 200G a stack on my server, I won't be prospecting this stuff anytime soon. I'd rather do the dailies and get the tokens; I guess that's where us patient people have an advantage :^)

Maybe I'm crazy but a jewelcrafting token doesn't really seem worth 300+ gold to me. This is just my opinion though, and obviously people disagree with me or else it wouldn't sell, but if I ever got any titanium powder I'd probably sell it. I did the same with the cooking reward quest items.

Infact, I'd probably end up selling the titanium ore.

Jewlcrafting must the the most stupid Proffesion in the game. I mean its not stupid but the way its gone its just ucked up.
So this Titanpowder system is just great...
Titanpowder is a big waste of money i would say if u are buying tokens for it. so lets say u have a fee of 10 or 15g for each cut and u spend 800g /design (20g titanpoweder, thats cheap too) U must cut that gem lets say 80 times. to get the money back. There is 72 gem cuts. do the math and think "how many cuts and how much TIME must i spend to get the money spent back" for your own economy dont ever ever buy titan powder or necklaces for anything that your own personal use..or wait dont even do that. So in the end lets sum it up. rather 509 days than cutting gems for 100000g..your actually an idiot if u spend the time and money.

Well, despite the exaggerated prices for titanium powder, i heavily disagree on JC being the most &*!@ed up prof. It's one of the most profitable professions, as for WotLK.
Except you are brain dead, you do NOT have to buy all recipes. You will need to buy the ones needed for your class and then buy some best-sellers. When i dinged 450 JC i got only 6 blue recipes. These 6 made me 4k in a week, with playing of 2 hours average per day and doing normal things, mining prospecting cutting selling.

Also, consider this fact: A JC cuts for a fee of 15-20g. A player has 10 sockets meaning he has to spend something between 150-200g to gem his gear, while a player has 8 enchants slots and an enchanter is feeing between 5-15g, which means 40-100g to enchant his gear. Of course i am not counting head and shoulders.

While everyone will one day use titanium powder to rush 2-3 recipes, the profit gains are huge. That's the very reason the prices are so high. The one selling titanium powder knows that the JC buying these will make the cost back in half a day, properly thinking of course. Yes, maybe a token sometimes is worth 300g. When the gem you just learned has a good demand in the server, it's guaranteed you can make 1k+ in 3 days by selling those.

Please, stop whining about JC being @#$%ed up, or that it's terrible difficult. If you know how to play, even First Aid can make you profit.

Prospecting is learned if you are a jewel crafter ( not sure if its at 1 or higher ).

Every (about) 2 titanium ore you will get 1 Titanium Powder.

Titanium powder is used for dalaran jewlcrafter's token.

(10 Titanium Powder makes 1 dalaran jewlcrafter's token), A dalaran jewlcrafter's token is used for designes (each design costs 2,3,4,5 or 6 dalaran jewlcrafter's token) it is also used for dragon's eye.

Dragon's eye makes necklesses, rings, and gems which the jewel crafter can only use if he/she has a skill of 350 or higher.

Nightmare Tear on the other hand matches ANY socket and doesn't require jewel crafting. ( its NOT soulbound)

I know it's not really a good way to do this, but what I do when I'm in a good mood is that i buy a stack of ores and prospect them. If i made profit or broke even then I will buy another stack, if I made a huge loss then i would stop for that day. Too bad I have to stop after the first stack most of the time... =[

Ok. my calculations say that you need a total of 2070 Titanium Powder to get ALL patterns from the vendor in dalaran.
A total of 72,450 gold if you wanted to buy them (at a price of 35g each for Titanium Powder )
so yeah...farming the titanium ore is the way to go. unless you rich ofc

As odd as this would be, is there a cap of some sort since cata toward getting titanium powder? My last 3 or 4 titanium prospects gave no powder whatsoever.

I know there's *still* lots of white stuff that is junk, and lots of grey junk still in AH, in their original categories, but GREEN JUNK?

My question, since the quest does show up on WoWhead, and it is a QUEST to turn in these for JC tokens, What level do you have to be to turn them in? My 59 can't.

Why is that that the Jewel trainer in Dal can give you a daily to do that means you have to get Titanium powder but if you are like me and at lvl 411 not quite up to 450 you cannot prospect the ore rather you have to pay silly prices on the AH

According to wowhead which erroneously says this quest is no longer available in game, the requirement is level 65. Quite odd considering how you can get to 450 JC @ lvl 55, but maybe there was a nerf to the Grand Master requirements which didn't translate into the quest. Either way, it's quite expensive even in cata to buy recipes this way. Even with a decent price per 10 stack of powder (wowhead quotes 160g), it would cost 640g per epic recipe. [Remember, Metas costs 3 tokens, Dragons Eye's and their patterns cost 1, and Epics cost 4)

If you really really need to obtain Epic LK Gem cuts:

1. Not recommended: Buy or Mine Titanium Ore and prospect it for the powder (expensive either way) @Wowhead prices, 640g per epic recipe
2. Not recommended: Obtain lots of green LK gems (Shadow C, Dark J, ?) & Frozen Orbs (110 JP in Dalaran) and make unlimited numbers of Icy Prisms
-- Likelyhood of receiving in Icy Prism... Blue Gems: 100% - Dragon's Eye 10% - Epic Gem 1.5%
-- (No idea how expensive, horrid for either scenario though, Blue gems tend not to sell that well and unless you get lucky w/ Dragon's Eye drops, you're just using up your stash of gems for the JC daily most of the time.)
3. Recommended: Simply obtain the Dragon's Eye cuts you need via 1 token per day and buy Dragon's Eyes the same way.
4. Recommended: Purchase epic LK gems via the JP gear vendor in Dalaran (Old Frost/Justice/Conquest/Valor Vendors) (220 JP per gem)
-- Have these cut by a JC in bulk tipping 20g per cut, ~500g, ~5k JP max w/ 20-25 cuts in a BiS 70 Twink. Maybe 10-15 in a casual twink.

I'm not sure what prices are like on your server, but I wanted to post this because my server's prices per LK epic cut are around 200g, Dragon's Eyes @ 150g, and Powder @ 500g per 10stack.

I just prospected some Titanium Ore about 10 minutes ago, and got 2 powders from it. So whoever is saying that they don't exist anymore, or that the quest isn't even on wowhead, is wrong, considering I also handed it in for the extra token.

This is a byproduct of prospecting titanium. I'm told you don't get it every time but I've got it so far every time i've prospecter titanium (which only became possible in yesterday's release of patch 3.2). If you have 10 of them you can turn them in to tiffany, the same npc that you can spend your dalaran jc rewards for and she will give you a jc reward in return.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic,
The Titanium Powder is unavailable until Trial of the Crusader releases.
Those that have been able to obtain the powder (before the hotfix) will not be able to do anything with it until the ToC patch releases in Classic.

When The patch is released, To obtain the Titanium Powder you prospect Titanium Ore x5.
When prospecting Titanium Ore you can get the following:

Titanium Powder 57% chance 1-5 drops
Bloodstone 23% chance 1-2 drops
Chalcedony 23% chance 1-2 drops
Dark Jade 23% chance 1-2 drops
