Formerly the ~~Glyph of Aspect of the Viper~~, buffing ~~Aspect of the Viper~~ (which will be gone in patch 4.0.1 as Hunters will no longer use mana as their resource):

~~Increases the amount of mana gained from attacks while Aspect of the Viper is active by 10%.~~

Has been recycled as new major Glyph of Concussive Shot. This ~~Improved Concussive Shot~~ effect was previously talentable in the MM tree before patch 4.0.1.

With this glyph, concussive shot a CD one second shorter than its duration. With no focus cost, it seems like an excellent choice for pvp or fights where kiting is involved.

Glyph of Concussive Shot:Your Concussive Shot also limits the maximum run speed of your target.

It's a little bit vague...
Anyone know anything more or care to expand on the changed glyph in the PTR?

With the glyph, Concussive shot is exactly like the old Judgement of Justice (with less cd, free and reducing your enemy's movement speed :D).

I'm still a bit confused about the usefulness of this glyph (in relative terms: over taking other glyphs such as Raptor Strike, Master's Call, Disengage, etc). It is quite situational and comp-situational. Since concussive shot reduces your target's movement speed by half anyway, even if they were under some kind of speed increase effect (up to 145% for ret paladins under talent effect, up to 170% for ferals and rogues using other glyphs than the Sprint one, then up to 200% for rogue who do use glyph of sprint), their movement speed will not exceed 100% anyway. So, unless they have Hands of Freedom on them (rets would), this glyph isn't exactly changing anything.

To make this glyph more powerful, perhaps it should limit the maximum movement speed of the target FIRST, then allow concussive shot to reduce its speed by half. The effect would be that even when the rogue pops sprint, his speed would be 50% like the rest of us who gets slowed :) That's what i first expected this glyph might do. Otherwise, it really offers little to the table unless the enemy rogue is being babysat by a paladin every minute his sprint is up.

This sounds like a useful glyph in pvp to kite Rogues with, since /cast Sprint won't increase their speed beyond normal run speed. However, if you're good at kiting Rogues anyway you may not need to waste a slot on this glyph.

question bout this what it should do since many say it does nothing atm :(

from what i read bout this glyph it also lowers max movment speed. Does this mean maximum movement speed would also b reduced by half? If this would/should be the case does it mean on a normal 100% moving speed target it would make the max 50%as of such ignoring possible thing such as pally'shttps://www.cuckhead.com/cata/spell=1044#. since it tecnically doesnt lower maximum movement any but more like alters the limit.

i highly doubt this after reading but it still something of witch id like to have a andser

This glyph, disregarding what everyone in these comments are saying, is not useless. What it does is limits the target's run speed to 100% (thereby negating Ret Paly/DKs/Feral Druid passive mobility buffs) and then reducing their speed by 50%. This also works on other speed modifiers such as PVP boot enchants (108% run speed), Rogue/Feral Druid Sprint (170% run speed), as well as mount speed (200% run speed). As such it is impossible to run faster than a hunter while they are effected by Glyph of Concussive Shot (Hunter with PVP enchant 108%, slowed by 50% becomes 54% run speed versus the 100%, slowed by 50% becomes 50%). The only exception to this is Crippling Poison which slows target speed by 70%.

The other major benefit of Concussive Shot is that it falls under the physical tree, similar to Hamstring, thereby is only removed by effects such as Hand of Freedom and Master's Call making it a hard counter to classes without a "freedom" type spell.

This glyph is also very strong in BG/RBG scenarios where a team may try to push through the front line to reach an objective. Using this glyph you can slow a mounted player to 50% speed and alternating between Concussive Shot and Concussive Barrage chain slow the target until they unmount or die. This is a very valid strat for picking off lone healers and stragglers trying to reinforce their offensive push.

Tried it a lot, is really a bad choice comparing with Bestial Wrath Glyph, Disengage Glyph, Master's call Glyph, and even Trap Launcher Glyph (since not enough focus = no trap). These are really not renounceable by a over 2k pvp hunter.

A quick explanation for those who don't wanna read walls of text, is that this glyph will reduce any character's movement speed, regardless of what it is, TO half of the base unmodified movement speed.

Other than making mount speed useless, the other more important effect is that it cancels out things like Priest 4 Piece bonus and Ghost Wolf, allowing the hunter to slow them despite the enemy having spells like this affecting them.

NEW: Glyph of Distracting Shot - Your Distracting Shot now distracts the target to attack your pet instead of you.
