These coins are quest rewards for the new PvP daily quests in WotlK. You get ~10 per quest and can use the to buy item rewards from "Grizzly" D. Adams <Venture Coin Vendor>.

Those are used to buy:

Caster Cloak, Tanking Cloak and Physical DPS Cloak - 50 Venture Coin
Balance Idol, Feral Idol, and Restoration Idol - 30 Venture Coin
Holy Libram, Protection Libram, and Retribution Libram - 30 Venture Coin
Restoration Totem, Enhancement Totem, and Elemental Totem - 30 Venture Coin
Caster Trinket and Physical DPS Trinket - 70 Venture Coin

Purkom - Horde

How to:
In order to unlock the vendors, your faction must control the Venture Bay. This happens through an event similar to the Eastern Plaguelands Towers event, or Halaa - people of your faction on the southern island cause progression. Whichever faction has more people there moves the bar in their direction. Beware, the area is full of elite NPCs with ~33k hp if your faction is not controlling the Isle.

P.S. On a side note, fishing behind one of the buildings is a nice way to kill time AND win the area for your faction...

There are a total of 4 daily quests (one tagged as group, but soloable if there aren't too many players of the opposite faction around and one repeatable quest that awards these tokens.

Unless they add more rewards though, it's unlikely you'll need more than maybe 100 of those coins.

Also note that you need the lighthouse for one of the dailies, but not for the rest. You also need the lighthouse if you want to use those coins, though.

Even though the rewards you can buy with these are basically junk, if you are an enchanter you can DE them for small dream shards. The cheapest item is the wand, costing 30 coins, so this is an alternative to haveing worthless currency....buy the wands and DE them for shards.

These may be basically junk compared to available raiding gear, but going into LK in T5/6 gear, there is a cloak and a trinket there that are upgrades for me after I hit 80. And these quests are so easy. And you also get a little faction rep for doing them.

The way I figure it, get what you can to upgrade today so you have more of an edge when going for the really good upgrades.

Enchanters have a use for these coins even after picking up all the items they want. The items that can be bought with these disenchant into Small Dream Shards. This effectively means that Enchanters can buy small shards for 30 coins each. It's not much, but with the number of Enchanting formulas that have to be bought with shards, every bit helps!

For characters that were actively played before WotLK, the items you get for those coins are unlikely to be useful, but for alts or for new characters, some of the items available for venture coins are quite attractive. My priest didn't have use for them, but my druid, who had only been a rarely used alt, the cape and trinket sold for these coins offered a nice boost. Sigils for DKs are oddly missing.

How to redeem if the other faction hold the Island.

Dead simple -

1) Flag up for PVP (you can flag after you get on it.)
2) Run onto the island to the very south that has the light house on it.
3) Taking control of the island is a game of numbers, if your the only player on the island then you will slowly take control.
4) If the other faction runs onto the island then you need one more of your faction to keep the control slider ticking in your favor, it takes about 10 min to move the slider from one side to the other.

You can be anywhere on the island.

This is very simular to the flags in Terokkar Forrest. Weight of numbers wins.

pretty average rewards, but also the most easily obtainable "currency" in the game. you can get 40 coins from the dailies. 2 days and you have enough to buy any of the rewards. they are essentially giving away the gear.

i'm glad bliz is throwing DKs a bone and adding new sigils available for coins and not making us waste badges on them.

There really isn't much here for hunters save one trinket, and that trinket isn't even that good.

Why? Because a good hunter doesn't need to recover health, a good hunter doesn't take any real amount of damage, he let's his pet take the damage. So for a good hunter, that trinket is really only half a trinket. For an average hunter that can't aggro bounce or properly kite, I guess this is useful.

Anyone know why I collected about 30 of these coins from 3 dailys, lost the island (control went to horde), claimed venture bay for alliance again, and the amount i am is grayed out and is apparently 0 now? WTF? Were the 3 quests I did in waste...?

I am here to report a strange bug with the Venture Coins. Apparently, if you transfer from a PVP server to a PVE server you will not be able to unflag yourself for PVP as long as these are in your inventory.

The most you can get in a single day seems to be 54. That's 5 10-coin quests (including the red rocket quest) and the 4-coin (first-time only?) Element 115 quest.

Sadly that is 6 venture coins short of getting my shaman's healing AND dps totem in one day. Logging out near the bay to do the last tomorrow, and probably stand next to the lighthouse for another 10 minutes to talk to the vendor for 2 seconds.

Annoying as that is, it makes sense as the goal was to be a PVP-oriented daily grind, not a single-day quest reward. Not that I've seen anyone fight each other in venture bay on my (pvp) server yet...

above lvl 74 these are a total waist of time, given that Venture bay is a regular lvl 80 daily, one would think Blizzard would give appropreate rewards that can be used.

Only thing u can do is take anything and sell to vender :(

When WotLK was first released, there was quite a bit of pvp in Venture Bay. As it stands now, however, it's fairly safe to go there and get the dailies done. I play on a high population realm and I rarely see anyone doing these dailies. Even when they are, they don't seem inclined to attack me. These are a part of my daily rotation as well, so I do them every single day.

The reason? There's very little point to kill other players here after level 74-75. There aren't any rewards that appeal to level 80's, and the dailies do not require you to kill other players. Therefore, doing so, in most people's eyes, is a waste of time. While this may sound like a bad thing to pvpers, for those looking to get gear and a little cash, it's great. These are some of the easiest and fastest dailies in Northrend.

As of patch 4.0.1, Each Venture Coin will be converted into 3 honor points, the equivalent of 125 Current Honor, or 3.53 Current Arena Points.

These rewards will still be available after 4.0.1, correct? I assume they will be offered for the equivalent amount of honor. I have six 80s and did these dailies on all of them around level 74-75.

Theres no longer any point in going here. I cleared the ONE node there was and held it to find out what the vendor had and its not much. I came here for the librams and was very disappointed.

Not worth it. I just did the base quests and I obtained 15 honor points.

There are way too many level 85 losers just hanging around trying to whack folks in their early 70s just because they can.

You can buy some nice blues from vendor if you own the lighthouse. Something for everyone from librams to totems, worth the extremely easy dailys.

Apparently, when the Alliance owns the lighthouse on the coast..you can go there and buy some gear from Grizzly D. Adams with them.
