Okay here's the info on the expiration timer:

you can let it burn out and you will still only have to pay 2g (you will not be required to re-attune).
you can still craft items without the membership card
you can still use your Goblin Engineering items without a card on you
therefore, attunement is all you need the card is a slot hog

It seems like everyone on here (and on the trade channel in wow) are confused on this item. I don't understand why. Here is what the item is for.

You either get the gnome or goblin engineering path then you get the corresponding card for that path. All the card does is allow you (if you are gnome) to go into booty bay and learn the schematics that are under his secret members only list.

He trains you the same as any other trainer so you need to stop back every few engineering levels to see if he has any new schematics for you to learn. Once you learn them you can make the just like any other engineering item.

As with most membership cards IRL this card will expire. You wait the two weeks for it to exipre and then you renew your card so that you can continue to buy more schematics. Aftetr you hit level 375 engineering there really isnt any reason to renew the card because he wont teach you anymore (maybe Blizz will add new 375 schematics later so keep an eye out).

Each time you renew the card you will get a membership subscription in the mail. Its a letter from him thanking you for being a member but you will also have a chance (very low like 4%) to win one of the 3 or 4 rare schmatics in that letter each time you renew.

If you dont want to wait 2 weeks to get another chance at the rare schematics, and dont mind wasting gold. Just delete your card, and go to him, he will ask you to renew your card, once you do you will get the letter from him within 24 hours. If you dont get the item you want delete the card again and go back to him to renew it again, continue over and over again. You'll just get the rare schematics faster this way. But it will cost you 2g each time you renew the card.

As of Patch 3.1.0, the renewal quest has been removed. I petitioned a GM no longer than an hour ago, and they told me that there is a book somewhere in the desert to get it, though... anyone have any ideas?

A friend told me that when I got my renewal I would get a gift in the mail that would contain an item I couldn't get elsewhere, like another engineering plan. But all I got was explosives that I could make myself. Does anyone know how the gifts work?

I have been asking ppl and searching in steemwedle port and booty bay to try to get goblin engineer but cant find it anywhere. where is the quest or the place to get goblin engineer? i got 150 skill atm so should be able to get it!

i got my lvl to 235 and still, the nixx guy dosent give me any quests for the engineer card!

I talk to Vazario Linkgrease just some meters away from Gryphon Master, he gives me the 2 quests. I've deleted the Goblin 1 because I don't know where to get The Goblin Engineer Membership Card. Now I can't obtain the quest again? Wtf? Some1 got a clue what's going on?

Ok people,it's really simple you get the card after doing the chain of quests. For the goblins you need 5 explosive sheep 20 solid dynamite and 20 big iron bombs. Gnomish on the other hand i dont care. For Horde you get the quests from the engineering guy in Undercity.

you need to talk to the engineer in booty bay to get the goblin engineering quests to get the skill hes in a big green mechanical hut thing in the town

You can renew your membership as many times as you want for 2G and you get a free gift for each renewal, but the gift does not show up in your mailbox until 24 hours later.

I renewed about 45 times in a row, hoping to get the drop for the Pet Bombling Schematic. 24 hours later, there were 45 gifts in my mail box.

From those 45 renewals here is the total of what I got:
109 Mithril Frag Bombs
80 Big Iron Bomb
40 High-Explosive Bomb
2 Schematic: Large Seaforum Charge
2 Schematic: Pet Bombling (BoP)

I ended up getting 2 of the bombling schematics I was hoping for (the second was a waste because they're BoP)

Yes, the bombs you get as a gift are bombs you can make yourself, but some have pretty expensive mats, so it's not bad. Renewing your membership won't exactly pay for itself, but the gifts are worth using, especially if you're just hunting for a rare drop like the Bombling Schematic.

I'm a lvl 253 goblin engineer and never heard anything from an NPC or anything else in-game about a membership card. Was it discontinued? The most recent post before mine is two years old.

I went back to Gadgetzan and checked with Nixx Sprocketspring the goblin engineering trainer then went to the same trainer in Dal, Didi the Wrench, nothing said about a membership card. Don't think I ever got one-checked bags and bank.

Has anyone ever noticed that "Goblin Experimental Engineering Korporation" shortens to GEEK? I don't think that is a conincidence... btw: The "Mechanical Engineering Guild, Associated" mentioned on the Gnome Membership Card shortens to MEGA... ^^

OK.....Here's a new one:

Some dude asked me if y could make him a Plate Helmet.
I realized that i couldnt, even though Im lvl 375.....
Then i realized that after some patch lately, new Schematic's can be tought.
But only if you'e Goblin or a Gnome Engineer.

I was already a Goblin Engineer but my Membership Card ( Goblin Engineer Membership Card ) had expired.

I went to Nixx Sprocketspring in Tanaris ( Nixx Sprocketspring ) and got a Renewal at the cost of 2 Gold.

EDIT (FOLLOW_UP):

Okay....The Schematic's mentioned above doesnt exist...There's no new Schematic's.

It's about the "Epic Helmet".....
All types of helmet's are class-specific. I.E. Hunter (= me) can be tought Surestrike Goggles V.2 ( Surestrike Goggles v2.0 )
And each individual class specific Helmet are BoP.
If you are a Hunter Engineer you cant learn I.E. "The Plate Helmet" ( Furious Gizmatic Goggles )

After getting everything from Gnomish Engineering and unlearning it I was able to use the Book "Soothsaying for Dummies" to learn Goblin Engineering and train its recipes, no membership card needed.
