Will not complete if you are in a group - raid or otherwise.

I completed it while in a group, but my husband had problems. He tried a few different things (logging out and back in, doing damage, not doing damage). It worked when he stood away from the portal (behind the npcs), not in a group, and he threw a single spell. Good luck!

Spent 3 attempts just killing fire elementals and the fire druid, kept resetting after the druid ran away. I afked to look here for advice, and when I alt-tabbed back, the quest was completed.

Tried this like 5 times over, it kept resetting after the chick came out and we killed her. Then i dropped the group i was in and it worked first try. If you're having troubles, drop group.

Had the same thing happen with me, was stuck in the loop.
Came here to check to see what I needed to do and when I tabbed back it was completed.

I was having troubles too with the quest repeating, but I fixed it by simply dropping the quest and getting it again.

Confirming, still a bit of trouble to get it completed in this patch.

As a paladin I went all in when the fire druid appeared, summoned my guardian, and it just reset and went back to the fire elementals spawning. When she spawned the second time I just auto hit her with no pet and I got the quest complete.
If it had something to do with my pet/guardian I do not know, but if you have one, dismiss it to be on the safe side.
(I was not in a group)

[We appear to have everything under control. Our invasion portal to the Firelands will be opened momentarily, and the elementals have not put up much fight.

Assist our druids by dispatching the last few of these elementals. Then, once the gate has been opened, we can make our move.]
