Just killed this boy on Beta, he was right where the pin is on the map, 56.7, 69.7.

He dropped a blue hat, that is BoP and it turns you into an exact copy of Burgy Blackheart. (A ghost pirate gnome) He was a VERY easy fight, little more difficult then the other mobs, and he had a spell that turns you into a skeleton, and gives you 0 armor class.

Just found this guy on live. Solo'd extremely easily as an 81 kitty druid in ICC10 gear. He dropped his hat, which is a permanent (while equipped) ghost Gnome costume.

In terms of respawn timers I can add the following info although I don't have screenies as proof. I camped him yesterday and eventually saw him at approximately 11:30am, decided to give it another crack today for an alt, he was already "up" when I arrived at his spawn location, which was approximately 9:30am this morning.

wow your super lucky. i have been checking this guy on Zul'jin so many times and i havent seen him once in the 1st week. i have my level 10 camped their so when he does finally spawn for me, i can get his hat. Does anyone have the stratigy guide and know if it shows his spawn timer? or if their is a cata atlas book that shows it? thx

ok I logged on about 11:50-12:15 noon ish EST Server, he was their. GOt a friend to come by i loged out, loged back in my my level 10 some pally killed him while i was logging . came about 12 hours latter stayed their for about a hour and 1/2 nothing no spawn, logged off came back about 3:50 am he was their, got frine dto come switched over killed him yey for me Uber hat on level 10 :). so im guessing his spawn timmer is about 14-15 hours or so, unless he spawned and got killed inbetween the to times i saw him.

I have discovered that if you wear his hat and use the Bones of Transformation, rare artifact from Night Elf archeology, that when the 20 seconds of being a naga runs out, you turn into your original form with the dressing room look of Burgy's hat on, a mage pointy hat, black/dark with a purple ring on it.

Not sure with other transformation effects, but I'll submit a screenshot.

I have figured out using the Wisp Amulet from Night Elf Archaeology that while wearing the hat, turning into a wisp, taking the hat off then back on, you will now be Burgy without a hat! You can see his bald head.

I saw him for two times, and the period is around 50H, maybe he respawned few times within the period, but for sure the respawning time longer than 12H.

Cool little hat, not only do you get to be a pirate but it makes all your mounts larger than normal and see through. Posted some pictures of my dwarf pally on a charger and green proto-drake with the hat on and off, check the screenshots.

Two successive kills separated by 23h.

After killing him on an alt I stalked him on my main, repeatedly checking at about 10-12, 14, and 16h from the initial kill, all without finding him. Somewhere between 16 and 23 hours he respawned, hope this helps.

I was lucky enough to get three time of deaths for this rare in the same 24h period, which should help some of you obtain a better idea of the minimum respawn time.

I found his corpse at 2:40am after doing a quick check of his spawn location, my friend claimed and killed it at 11:06am (8hr 26m later) and notified me of the time, and I killed it myself at 12:42am that same evening (13hr 36m later).

Some of the comments on here say the respawn time can be as long as 16+ hours, which may be true/possible. However, I can attest that it can be as short as 8 to 8.5 hours.

Ahoy mateys, just killed Burgy Blackheart at Davy Jones' locker at 6:18 AM 2/4/11 on Bleeding Hollow. Bring yer grog with ye, for it took this jack 5 hours of swiggin' n' swearin' fer the scoundrel to show hisself.

Fer ye lily-livered landlubbers: 56k hp rare non-elite, one spawn location, very small patrol around and around his sunken ship.

Aye me hearties, this is the latest and greatest bank alt attire!
Wearable at any level, as me level 2 bank pirate can prove! The effect o' this handsome hat be a ghostly pirate costume that turns ye into a slightly larger than life gnome! A bit less confoundin' if yer already a gnome like I.

Yaharr, as a level 2 gentleman o' fortune, ye can't drown/fatigue, ye regenerate health just as fast as ye lose it, which makes reaching Burgy very easy (after a warlock summon onto the boats at the surface).
Add the fact that thar be no dangerous creatures close to Nespirah's base and ye can simply swim down to her southern base, keepin' yer one good eye open fer keelhaulin' whale sharks o' course, n' sit there wit' narry a worry o' scurvy swashbucklers and camp to yer blackheart's delight!

Be certain to look up terrible piratey jokes to test on the local crowd of crustaceans on the sea floor, like "What's the worst nightmare fer a pirate on a blind date? A sunken chest with no booty!" Yo ho ho good luck me mateys!

I killed him this morning at around 4 'o clock.
I revisited the spawn point from time to time and found him at 7:30 PM
So I guess the respawn time is around 12 hours.

EDIT: Mob was there at 3:23 AM, so it could be 8-12 hours

What I've found whilst having this hat equipped is after logging off and logging back on, I become dismounted automatically. I've yet to die but I have no doubt that I'll become a victim to this sooner or later. Just a friendly warning to anyone who has this nifty little hat in case this happens to you also.

Just killed Burgy on European server @ the exact server time of 11:13 in the morning. I got there and my npcscan just found it. I didnt camp there at all. Been there like 5-6 times just to check out but i wasn't lucky at all, and this morning i just found it. I might as well add that i got there another time before 15~ hours but no sign of him at all.

Somone in my guild got this guy last night so I thought I would give it a try. I have been camping it for about 7 hours now. Fortunately with a hunter so it has not been a total waste of time. I have gotten stacks and stacks of skins from the fish and crabs. There is a sea snake that spawns exactly every 5 minutes, not sure if it is a place holder, or it spawns in stead of him?

Would be nice to know. I plan on continuing to eradicate the local sea life until I get him.

Less than 24 hours after discovering the hat on another player in-game, & googling this NPC, I tracked him down.

Based on the comments on this page, I think that it's fair to say that this rare is a "common" rare, atleast for now.

Happy camping! Oh - If you can't spot him at first, try looking under the shipwreck, I found him bugging around inside the ship.

Just killed him on my priest, and almost missed him. NPCScan pinged me on Captain Florence (no use, I'm Alliance, can't kill him) and Burgy almost simultaneously. I went up, thinking Burgy was on the surface like Florence and Foulwind, but realized pretty quickly he was not, and went down under. Easy fight with 81 Shadow Priest.

Okay i got some interesting facts here:
So i was swimming around in Vashj'ir since its my favorit part of WoW, when i decided to give the rare a try once again (iv been farming him before).
I went down there and saw that there was no rare, when suddently i was attacked by the snake.
I killed the snake and 10 sec. after the gnome spawned, pretty odd ehh?
I honestly believe they share a spawn cooldown, and the snake is a placeholder for the gnome, since his spawn timer is kinda low compared to other cata rares.

I've gotten the hat 3 times in the last 2 days.

4/22 - 11:07am server time
4/23 - 4:02am server time
4/23 - 1:36pm server time

The last time I got it for my level 1 bank alt, which I'm quite happy about. My Orc Warlock is now a pimp gnome. :-)

However, I can't quite figure out the respawn time, it's all over the place.

Yeah, I think he has a 12-or-more hour spawntimer, because someone else mentioned 12 hours, and I waited, waited, waited, waited and waited 12 hours for him, then finally got him at about 8am. At around 6 hours of my hunt, someone just happened to pass by. I was so tired and frustrated to him that I was going to rage and yell at him just for being there, but gladly I managed to keep my mouth shut. But nevertheless, I succeeded, and now I can be a HUGE pirate gnome riding an even huger motorbike when I drink a growth potion, since Burgy's model is a bit bigger than your average gnome.

exactly 12 hours respawn time confirmed.

First kill at 3:30, second kill at 15:30. Fluctuates by a few minutes max.

(I actually logged in before 15:30 and waited for him to spawn, which he did)

Saw him killed a bit after 1:30pm on the 16th of may. Killed him myself at shortly before 1:30am 17th of may. Waiting to see if I can get him for an alt, an hour to go to see if it's 12 hour respawn give or take a couple mins.
Edit: Killed him again at 12:51 am on the 17th of may.

So I found him on my hunter this morning. And NPC Scan will not pick him up if he is cached. So you have to clear it and pray someone else don't find it before you. I am happy to say I am a gnome hunter now :)

While camping, you can see, that his boat, its the only "safe" place in the small area, all around him u can see murlocs, and Sea Snakes

Basically what he means is the ship is a safe place, so don't worry if you have Resurrection Sickness.

I started camping for this guy right as the bf logged out. I have no clue when he last spawned at.. 5+ hours and still nothing.. So far, I have stuff to keep me 'awake' (but it's failing there. xD) But so far, it seems kinda.. fun camping again?

Now, after this lil dude.. time for Poseidus (for the mount and, hopefully, the bf's shoulders)!

just submitted a SS on where I killed him with the hat on. For some reason, NPCScanOverlay is showing his spawn point behind the boat and not the area around it. But luckily I was playing around inside the ship when both SilverDragon and NPCScan went off. Nearly made me have a heart attack when it went off! D: Will test his respawn time on an alt of mine to see if it's 12+ hours or so. But he appeared between 6-7 hours for me. But then again, I didn't know when he last spawned for me when I started camping for him.

I believe the respawn timer is a bit shorter then 12 hours. I killed this guy twice now. Just now on an alt and then last night on my main. As you can tell, these 2 comments are less then 12 hours apart.. So, that means he might be somewhat of a "common" rare for cata. But I do know his spawn respawn time is a little under 12 hours.

main killed him just before 4am server time.
alt killed him 1:30pm server time.
9-10 hours between the two kills.

Having just killed this pirate at:
Realm: Azjol Nerub
Time (Realm): 1:00AM, 7th July, 2011
Location: The SUNKEN alliance ship, on the south west side of Nespirah
Patrol: Didn't give him time to walk - had just swam back to the ship after a Poseidus run.
However, he patrols around the base of the ship, as previous comments state.
Respawn Time: Between 5-12 hours. (Take that with a pinch of salt - That's my estimate after talking to player with the hat and knew the time of the kill.)
Drops: A few silver, and 布尔吉·黑心的时装帽 (Hat being a 100% chance drop.)

Tips and Tricks:
As with any rare mob, you will have to do some camping.
I just sat there on my character, and just waited. this involved watching tv with NPCscan on. This was a fairly good way to camp him.
I also did a few arenas while there, and this was a great way to grind the time. However, Burgy's hat is in high demand on my server; and there were several, less driven people, who wanted to camp him also. This made the arena camping more risky.

I came online at 1:00 am to check my mailbox, and there he was. I literally saw him zone in. NPCscan woke up the dead and I got my hat.
Here are some facts.

He spawned on the sand that is seeping onto the deck of the ship.
He doesn't have a huge blue ghost auora, he is relativly hard to see against the sand.
He doesn't have any spawning/death emotes.
HE DOESN'T SHARE A SPAWN WITH THE PATROLING SEA SNAKE
He IS NOT an "elite" rare, (The silver dragon doesn't have a wing) so he is a very easy fight.

Good luck farming this gnome, and may he spawn before you die of boredom.

I'm patting around for poseidus, npc scan goes off, I find captain florence (9:40 am server). I kill him, swim back down, and my npc goes off, burgy blackheart, (9:43 am server) By the way, I had checked for burgy around 20 minutes earlier and he was not there.
Coincidence? I think not.

EDIT: About 10 minutes later, I went to check Shok'sharak's spawn, and low and behold he was there. Again, i had checked a few minutes previous of killing burgy or captain florence and he was not there. Killed Shok'sharak at 9:54 am server. I will go check other rare spawns and post here ASAP. I do apologize for not being able to provide co ordinates.

I found this little fella on Deathwing EU at 13:48 today, it is... 74 hours after 4.2 server restart. BUT I can tell you that this guy does not have a long respawn, cus my m8 found him yesterday in the middle of the day aswell.

It was like this: I had nothing to do, was waiting while the raid leader was gathering a raid to BoT, I spent about 1 minute in Vashj'ir before I found him :d

First I got shocked, then I could only see "Sea Snake" (cus I have added that to my NPCScan) so then I got really sad, but after that I realised it had found both Sea Snake AND Burgy Blackheart. So these 2 doesn't have anything in common either. :) Now I'm a happy pirate!

Korialstrasz US, logged in at 2:41 a.m. game time to find him already patrolling around the back side of the boat, so I'm not sure how long he was there. Swam down and dropped him to loot my lovely new hat.

I can confirm that it does not affect the Sandstone Drake.

I don't care if Burgy and the Sea Snake share a spawn timer, I still kill that creepy ass snake whenever I see it. Scares the hell out of me each time too.

Edit: I posted this and started camping this guy at about 1:00AM I sat there till 8:40AM and then I fell asleep :( around 9:00AM I woke up and continued camping, when it got to 5:00PM I realized he must have spawned in the 20 minutes I drifted off... so knowing the spawner is around 12 hours I kept camping till 8:45PM and viola! he spawned. And now I enjoy turning on slow walk, and paroling around that area watching as people fly toward me in an excited daze and then /cry.

I ran into this guy with npc scan at around 57.1/69.8 inside a sunken ship. not really hidden u can see right in it. those coords is the exact spot. Spawn rate is 12 hours. One of my friends farms them for all his characters. Awesome reward if you run into this ghostly fellow. Can go in combat and fight while transformed and everything. Even makes your mount ghostly. Good luck peoples.

BTW: Cairne server just killed him at 12am server time.

I'm Just after Getting Him He's a really easy fight and he 100% drops the hat and some other piece of food :D Here's Some details.

Relam Time : 14:19
Real Life Time : 13:25pm GMT Dublin
Co-od's : 57.69

He was just walking around the back of the shipwreck..My NPC_SCAN scanned him I Tagged him then saw him straight away..I Do believe that there is a spawn timer between 6-24 Hours Because the last time he as killed on my relam was 17:47pm Relam time on Tuesday. His body will disappear in about 2 minutes after you kill him. When u Right Click the hat you automatically change and there is no cooldown :)

Just watched him spawn @ 9:25am, Monday, August, 22nd on Blackrock right before my eyes. He spawned just where the sand meets the boat outside the door.

I camped him yesterday (Sunday) from 3am - 12 noon, then from 2pm - 6pm. Started again at 3am today (Monday) @ 3am, he spawned @ 9:25am exactly.

Logged in this morning @ 7:10am, wed, 24th, to check for my daughter and there he was again. Invited her to group, summoned her with guild summon and now we both go tooling around as burgy.

Someone killed him yesterday at ~6:30pm and he re-spawned today at ~7am. I was in bg for about 10-15 min, so it's possible that he spawned earlier.

I started to camp his location at Executus - EU 2011/09/05 17:00 server time. 4h and 40 min later he spawned 21:40.

During the waiting time I used NPC scan and had my speakers on so I would hear when he spawned.

I camped with my brother on the wreck for more than 24 hours without a break, and nothing happens, he doesn´t spawn :(( Could it be that he has a 6-72 hours respawn or is he maybe on an other phase?

Ive killed Burgy 4 times now across 3 servers. the first 2 times, on 1 server, I killed both exactly 48 hours apart. The other 2 on the other 2 servers, I killed both at around 4:50am.

So here is my story

I went there to kill Burgy, and stood just above the ship with the Abyssal Seahorse and the NPCScan ready.
I started at 07:08 pm server time and had wow open in 1 old monitor i had, and i was watching movies on the other one.

At 00:05 pm server time, the last movie ended and yet i didnt saw burgy.. so i thought "well maybe its because im here all the time" .. so i went south for a couple of seconds, just far enough so that i couldnt see the npcs in the area, then i came back inmediatly and BAM, there he was in the center of the ship, freshly spawned.

So, TL:DR
If you have waited in the same spot for a long time, try to going away and coming back quick, that may help im some way!

I hate it when I get ideas along the lines of "Hey... I should do that!" in WoW.

- I wanted to get Baron Rivendare's mount... 269 runs later I had it.
- I wanted to get the Raven Lord Mount ... 3 months of daily Sethekk Halls runs later I had that too.
- I wanted to get the Higher Learning achievement... spent the better half of 2 days running around in Dalaran.
- Don't get me started on the Fishing Achievements. Turtle: I'm looking at you.
- Now I find myself staring blindly on my monitor, in a game, under the sea, by a shipwreck, drypicking the surroundings for Azshara's Veil for 6 hours.

No clue when he last spawned either. Oh well... lol. He'll spawn some day. :-)

Edit: Camped from about 20-ish to 1am-ish with no sign of him. Logged out at the spawn-site.
Logged on early today around 07:50am, and SilverDragon didn't react. Figured he hadn't spawned. I was just gonna pick some herbs on the backside of the ship before I intended to go do something else.
Lo and behold, there he was, patrolling on the other side of the ship. No annoucement from SilverDragon until I targeted him.

Anyway, got my hat at 17 of November, 07:50am, Aerie Peak EU. Yarrr!

Little tip,If you have Burgy's hat and Orb of the Sindorei / Leyara's Locket / Kalythes locket and you character is a female you can put the hat on, then use one of your transformation items (With the hat equiped) then you can remove the hat and your character will be a male for as long as the transformation item lasts. Enjoy =]

Killed this guy yesterday on Andorhal. He dropped the hat and also an enchanting formula! 公式：附魔护腕 - 极效智力 This formula is not listed as part of his loot table sooo.. someone may need to update that :D

As Long as ye are lvl 1 i believe you can get this hat. Just Bagged him witha freind on my 20 druid With the help of wowhead of course. Perfect for lvl 20/24 twinks on horde who need a bit of nice head gear to please themselves. Definately worth getting to Vashj'ir to get theis epic hat.
Also note that on a druid you have to re equip it after shapeshifing to get the effect.

It's been reported by some that the respawn can be 5 to 23 hrs. I've found it to be closer to 8-10. Didn't have any trouble on three of my characters, but went to help a friend, and oh boy, took two days to get it. Good luck to all who camp it. It's a fun thing to use when riding my TLPD. Too funny. =)

I was camping this little guy all last night, probably almost 10 hours straight (Netflix is a life saver). Frustrated at about 2:30am EST, I called it quits. Logged back in about 8am EST, still no pirate gnome after about an hour of sitting there...still frustrated over sitting there all night, I go hunt other rarespawns.

NPCScan immediately pops Captain Florence for me, so I swim my way up topside to go kill him. Went to go confirm that Foulwind was there as well (which he was) and then decided to jump back into the water and check on Posideus. As soon as I got into the water, NPCScan pops on Burgy! Killed Captain Florence at 6:22am server time, Burgy died at 6:24am server time.

Wonder if they are related at all? I didn't check on Captain Florence at all last night while camping...

After trying to camp Burgy a few times i gave up. But (today) at 6:45 pm on wednesday (server restart) i finally got him.
Seven hours and 45 minutes after server restart.
Before i was in a dungeon for 20-30 minutes i was there and he wasn't there yet. When i came back from my dungeon NPC scan went off and he was just standing there! He was inside the ship.
After server restarts some rare npcs will 'restart' too. So since Burgy had a 7-12 hour spawn time (i think), it was the perfect time to camp. So a tip for people trying to get Burgy Blackeart Awesome Hat; Go 5-12 hours after a server restart. He WILL be there. I hope i helped you guys a little bit(:

Just saw him on my 80 Rogue on Terokkar EU At 6:15 Realm Time

Strange thing was, I had seen him 12 hours earlier! My NPC Scan is outdated and did not register him the 2nd time I came by.

I was just showing my sister where he spawns, as she saw me one day with the hat on an alt that I already had it on... and I found him last night on my Rogue as well.

Last night he dropped: 54 Silver, the Hat, and a Swamplight Ring of the Bandit

Today he dropped : the Hat and 28 Silver, along with 50400 EXP.

Spawn time #1 - 5:10pm - I unfortunately missed the kill for this one.
Spawn time #2 - 2:10am (exactly 9 hours later) he spawned again and I got the hat.

Both times he was standing just outside the little entrance to the ship. Extremely easy fight for an 85.

I read a lot about spawn (supposedly 18 hours). I did not believe even that may be there. But I decided to do some quests in Vashj'r for Loremaster Cata. And then I decided to visit the spawn. Who I found? Living pirate :D

I found Burgy at his usual patrol spot alone, at 1:00 A.M. server time.

Tip for anyone who isn't on the quest line (don't have unlimited breath underwater). Just swim down to Burgy regularly and kill him, when you're done just hearth or if you're a mage teleport out. I can guarantee this works I did it myself when I killed him.

Ive never had so called "Luck" at camping rares...

So this Burgy pirate fellow is said to be a "common" rare, yet ive been camping there for about 2 straight days with nuffin, at 2:30am a random blue geared warrior decides to camp with me, im like right ive had enough and proceed to go on an alt for about 15 mins to check AH, and what not. Decide before i log out of game to check 1 more time and SURE ENOUGH, as i log in NPCSCAN goes mental, Burgy is dead and the random #$%^ warrior who spent about 10 mins got his hat.

So now Im still camping, waiting for another random to steal ma kill.

Found him at 2.26AM on Trollbane EU
He spawned right infront of me, in the sand that sips into the ship, right by the door. The sunken Alliance ship.

Killed that creepy Sea Snake a few times as it passed by me! (Creepy and scary creature)

After standing there for around 7hours, I did swim to see if Captain Foulwind had spawned (witch he didnt :( ) When i did swim back Npcscan went crazy!

Now I got a nice little hat :-)

Gonna test the re-spawn timer with an alt now.

Just found Captain Florence, Burgy Blackheart, and Captain Foulwind all spawned at the same time. 6:22pm eastern standard time, 5:22p server time on Akama. Very surprised to see them all at once.
