WW’s been one of my favorite alt specs for years now, and I completely agree that it’s baffling that it’s still centered around SEF, and either Serenity or Dragon Punch haven’t been made baseline for the spec by now. Like, when I think of Asian-style monks, I think that having moments where they reach a zen state and just explode with martial and spiritual arts combined is SO much more on-flavor than... summoning a couple copies of yourself.
As a life long enhance player all i have to say to monks feeling ignored is "Oh, so you think darkness is your ally? But you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already a man, by then to me it was only blinding. The shadows betray you because they belong to me."
WW is just a modern variant of ret. kek on that last tab of the spreadsheet. Time spent above average per spec in mythic since WoD start:Class Spec Days %Paladin Retribution 21 0.91%Monk Windwalker 392 17.00%Also blizzard nerf ranged pls
The article is great (as usual). We also need:- a rework for venthyr covenant ability, which feels alien to ww and also underwhelming.- a rework for necrolord covenant ability (with 50% proc chance it can either buff 2 RSKs or 2 TPs) and a bugfix for bone marrow hops conduit for pets.- possibly a slight buff for night fae covenant ability.Rogues had their reworks, why can't we have em too?
" the biggest benefit of this was that it allowed new players to maximize the benefit of Mark of the Crane without the effort that it would normally require"Oh Yeah this sounds completely fine. The spec playing by itself without puttting the effort and still pulling the numbers as the best melee dps. Totally fair.So much crying jesus.
Even MM hunters who don't have as many bugs as WW or even close to it, only got the "bug" fixed that allows us to do more damage. The negative bugs, e.g. double tapped aimed shots ONLY proccing 2 WS procs IF with-in 20 yards of the target (so can't deny it's a bug not an intended feature or it just wouldn't ever proc it). Yea that bug is still in...Personally I don't play monk, my monk is level 10. But i was very much enjoying WW being viable, it's just interesting, fresh, nice to jump in dungeons and watch them spin around and do all the... w/e it is ur doing. As a hunter main I can also sympathize to an extent with your new found reality of having 2/3 specs being not amazing (although with the new balance changes we seem to have beaten you and are now on 3/3) if you look at the recent numbers. I hope WW will rise again once it's been ironed out.
Blizzard's treatment of Windwalker has always been atrocious, but I think the biggest crime was to let WW's damage rely on things such as EWF > fists of fury cancelling. I've dabbled with windwalker for several expansions casually and there is absolutely nowhere in-game that would tell me that my mirror images would continue channelling it after I cancelled it - this would be something that I'd have to work out for myself after being stunned out of it, and the chances of that are extremely low. The same goes with Crane Kick stacks lasting longer than 15 seconds + WDP triggering at the wrong time - to rely on these undocumented, tooltipless bugs for damage just makes the class needlessly confusing.I'm very happy that the class does what the tooltips say now, seeing as it seems that was never the case. How about we just slap a 6% damage aura buff on Windwalker and we'll call it quits?I'm aware this is an incredbly unpopular opinion, but I'm so casual I play lying down, so the additional clarity definitely benefits people like me!
As a monk from the Thunder King patch, the date when i joined WoW and created my very first class, as the one who experienced old version of SEF, Chi Explosion from WoD - i dont support you solutions and recommendations. Basically you are asking to strongly buff our numbers and that's it. I didnt see the solutions to enrich our gameplay, make our rotation more interesting and responsive. The WW is one of the few classes that fits to the definition "Easy to play, hard to master" And that's the beauty and uniqueness of windwalkers, its a niche and very specific class and it should stay so. I personally dont want this spec to be another mainstream nobrain class like BM from BfA. And your recomendations to remove some of our spells that require micromanagement, im afraid, seem to be lead to that point. But i agree that we have dozens of bugs that require more attention. Thanks for the article.
Should just remove "storm, earth, and fire". Not really a fun ability anyway. Create some new CD instead that is less prone to bugs. Maybe something rythm game inspired that takes the mastery effect to a new level. Possibly crazy idea but what if your haste is increased by a static % and the mastery effect stacks for the duration( 10s?) of the CD, but if you fail and use two identical abilities back to back you "slip" and get stunned for 2s? Losing the effect. Could name it after Mohammed Ali's butterfly quote.So...Floating ButterflyCD: 1.5minDuration: 10sFor 10 seconds focus on every strike causing each successive mastery: combo strikes to stack. Losing focus may cause you to slip, stunning you for 2s.Affected by: Spiritual focusNeed rework: Coordinated offence
Out of all the classes I've played, monk is what's treated me the most well. Tank, DPS and healing, monk has been the easiest and coolest for me.I entirely agree these changes must be made to WW, as it does get tedious.
Wow this article speaks to me, the monk class was so good in Legion due to the traits it had, and after that the monk was just a shadow of it self, really sad! I loved it. I hope that Blizz employer's See this post and do some of this changes. To be fair Monk was really strong at the beginning in MoP and I think that Blizz is just scared that Monk turn's back to that Monster... Just saying Dematerialized in PvP and more lol
This article- A small loud part of the wow community mad at going form required in raids to not requiredMe as a Havoc DH - This your first time?
