I have come back from the dead to tell you guys you wont be getting this loot card. A guy named Treston323 will. That lucky bastard
So a couple years ago, pre-bc, I talked my wife into playing WoW with me. She was skeptical but eventually started to really enjoy playing. Her troll warrior and my troll shaman were quite the pair. Right about the time she was getting into her lower 50's I was in a group in Strat while she was off fishing in Stranglethorn Vale. I couldn't talk her into going because she was not comfortable in instances. Well, after awhile a Skullflame Shield dropped! My guildies passed it to me to give to my wife who was so excited to get such a neat shield, the very next day she was begging to do an instance with me and the guild. She never turned back and has always kept that Shield banked as her 1st confidence booster on her warrior. I loved the look on her face when I showed her what I got for her and I love that she still talks about it as her favorite WoW present from me :)
I don't think anything I do will compare to the day I got my Robe of the Void. I was just a measly lv 60 nobody in a small friend-based guild doing the occasional Molten Core runs for fun. I had pretty much crap for gear, but I didn't know any better back then so I was happy with myself just for being 60. One day I'm running around Orgrimmar and I check my mailbox, wherein sits a letter from my GM with a recipe attatched. "Thought you might have a use for this" it reads. I'd never even SEEN the color purple in my bags before, so I can hardly believe my eyes. I quickly learn the recipe and spend the following 2 weeks farming felcloth, runes and essences for this amazing item. The cheers and congratulations from the guild chat when I finally link the finished robe stand as a testament for me to this day as to how much better those days were, when most of this game was a mystery to me and even a simple DM or Scholo run was an epic adventure.
bout two months ago i joined a raiding guild. i was a Fury warrior, but switching to Prot for MT purposes. This guild was raiding kara at the moment. The MT that was currently running kara had been doing kara for 4 months waiting for the King's Defender to drop. One night we decided to run kara on a whim. we had 10 people available, and were looking for something to do. the regular MT didn't want to run kara, so i ran as MT that night. Just so happened the King's Defender dropped that night, and I got it. woohoo. i was so happy. i'm still using it today as a 79 prot warrior til something better comes along. That's my epic drop, bust one i've had.
The most epic loot I've ever received has to be the very first actual epic drop I got in the first Kara run I had been in. That moment was simply fantastic; after spending so much time in just being able to get to Kara (you know, before Blizzard nerfed it), winning that roll and then waiting in anticipation to get back to Shatt to turn in the token was simply wonderful. I can't think of anything else that compares.
Waaaay waaay back in the days of Old Naxx, having just killed Instructor Raz for the first time we were lucky enough to see a splinter drop. Had already narrowed it down to three members who were likely to get this: myself (A), the priest CL (B) and another druid (C) who had been with us from damn near the start. DKP didn't really come into play for this, so it was just a case of rolling. First rollA rolls 73B rolls 24 C rolls 73So unexpected to see that sort of thing appear that it took everyone a while to figure out how unlikely that sort of thing is to happen, and on such a valued piece of loot. Naturally, a reroll is decided:A rolls 68B rolls 91 (just for the hell of it, but man was he !@#$ed)C rolls 67So damn close yet much cheering ensued after he had rolled.Pity really, TBC prepatch hit 3 weeks later and raiding came to an end so nothing ever really came from this one splinter but a good fight for it anyway!
I can never forget the day i got Deadman's Hand (http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=34227) while running my Mage to-be-twink... That was really epic, totally unexpected and god, that's some ring for sure, specially for a frost mage twink
The most epic item i found it's surely "The Schools of Arcane Magic - Mastery" and the "Kirin Tor Familiar".I spent a week searching for the books all over Dalaran, it was a drug, i couldn't stop from running again and again in circles. When i was missing just the last book,i stayed something like eight hours in the same place, standing there and looking over and over to see if it spawned. But in the end i was successful, i finally found the last book and received the "Kirin Tor Familiar".
Soloing the last 5% on Shade of Aran (as a hunter), Pre 3.0 :P. Luckily I BW popped at the time :) Oh and my Jumpers worked. /flex
