Now maybe they can play Hunter and see how dumb it is lol
Lets see what comes from this, but not holding my breath this will be beneficial for the game going forward.
As a non-American i found the union you do "weird" but hey, if it's good for them, good job.BUT, as a french, with a FREAKING LOT experience of people getting together to improve their work environment, i'm worried about the quality of world of warcraft. Usually (here), "better conditions" = sloppy job and caring less. (Mentality of "i can't get fired now")Let's wait and hope for the better.
Some of you guys are insane. Worker's rights are important.
Who cares, games are *!@# these days. The company sucks, nothing can ever repair the damage caused in the last 10 years
Big congrats and well done to the devs for getting this up and running! While I guess I am not surprised, it is still really disappointing to see the negative sentiment amongst some. Even in a bizarro world where improved worker's rights lead to worse products (hint: the so-called decline of modern games and other media corresponds with increased corporatisation and correspondingly reduced workers rights/job stability in the same sectors), then it is a basic human decency to valuate the well-being of the people that create and maintain the product you enjoy higher than getting the next patch two weeks earlier. Have some goddamn perspective.
Is this good for the game?
Glad to see them finally figure it out. Now the hard part will be negotiating. I hope you all find the courage to stand your ground. As an electrician here in Chicago with local 134, our base rate is 53/hr, everything like healthcare is part of the overall package so it doesn't get deducted from that base rate. That overall package is closer to 95/hr once you add it all up. Before any goons claim I'm lying it's all posted on the website. Also the pensions are 110% funded which is the other fun complaint people make. What I'm trying to say to you though - an hour of a wow developer is way more valuable than an hour of an electrician. You should be getting paid much more than we are. Remember how much the people here complain and whine when p3 ran late. If you strike, that will be Microsoft's problem to deal with and they know it. Fight for what you deserve and strike if you have to. Good luck, glad you made it this far.
I'm just shocked this is not a normal thing in America. Job security and happier devs will result in us having a better product no matter how you look at it.
Meh, doesn't really make a difference. They can still be fired, still layed off.
