With a Tauren Druid bringing the TB quests, and an Undead rogue bringing the Undercity quest, two hunters and a warrior, ranging in levels from 11 (me) to 17 (warrior), we cleared the instance in one run, and finished all quests. The books dropped from consecutive cultist mobs in the camps to the left of the main ramp down on the ramp leading up to the Satyr boss.

The really fun part was, only the rogue and I knew what we were doing. Thankfully, our tank offered to start tanking (IE switch to Defensive stance and Taunt) after the first two wipes, and things went pretty smoothly after that. Of course, I died twice pulling mobs off our druid because the tank had a bad case of target fixation, but hey, that's what hunters are for, right?

Anyhow, long story short (too late), yes, the books drop off any old cultist, although it seems to me that almost every time I've done this instance, it was cultists on the ramp up to the Satyr that dropped them. In fact, it

been every time.

I solo'd this at 26 for rep.....got the Spells of Shadow almost right off. But the Incantations never dropped.....probably a rare occurance.

dropped for me but was gone for a party member who was killed. We tried twice more and finally had her abandon the quest and I shared it again.

It dropped with the fourth or fifth kill.

Both books, one run, less than 20 guys. Level 38 mage trying to get a skeletal horse rather than a freakin' hawkstrider X_X

I got both the spell and incantations in the same spot. RFC is set up so you come in fighting snakes, then monkey looken dudes, then elementals, then orcs. When I got to the orcs I took a right and hugged the wall, killing all the way. At one area where there were a group of orcs, still hugging the wall, I got both drops off the orcs.

Soloed this as a lvl 24 rogue. Had to kill five groups around Taragaman but then got both books in a single drop. Not sure if this means it's easier to get in 2.3.3, but from what people have said who had 2.3.0 it sounds like maybe it is.

The reason for the books low drop rate is because many ppl don't take this quest before they enter Ragefire Chasm.

Spells of Shadow dropped from a Searing Blade Cultist, and the Incantations from the Nether dropped from a Searing Blade Warlock.

i went in as a 16 mage with 70 mage and i got both books and bosses qeusts did them in one run
the boss that looks like a goat like 5 people befor him droped both the books.

You cant be a lvl 16 you have to have a raid group of like 6 people the lvl of the monsters are like lvl 15 but they have dragons around there head when you click on them and, by experience, they are like lvl 26 or something or other but i died every time and i have a lvl 17 warrior and i got like one monster on me and they were lvl 15, i died in two hits so you need a raid group.

What you have to keep in mind is even though wowhead says the books have a low drop rate they actually don't. Out of the many times RFC has been cleared on a few groups out of the 100s farming RFC for loot actually have the quest.
I think the quest items have a 50% chance to drop, I got both mine in one rune, my friend did as well.

To those of you worried that you can't hand in or take Varimathras' quests due to him being killed during the Wrathgate/Battle for Undercity chain, there is a replacement coming to help you out in patch 3.3 as confirmed by a blue poster.

Bragor Bloodfist will be taking his place and giving/accepting all quests previously assosiated with Varimathras. So all you Seekers/Loremasters out there can put your fears to rest.

Varimathras is a Dreadlord, at the Royal quarter which is a room of apothecarium, and you will see Lady Sylvanas also.

The searing blade can be found by following the pain path, they're human elites just before the first boss guy (dont recall his name) just kill them and they'll eventually drop your books :)

I found it to be easy. Went in, killed cultists. Got it before I was past two platforms (after the snakes and elementals)...just following the left hand side of the path past the big tall guy.

the dungeon is at 52,49 ragefire chasm. directly opposite the gate is a second quest for the same dungeon.

Ragefire Chasm is located in the Cleft of Shadow in Orgrimmar. It is an instance portal. You do the quest there.

Dont, believe the hackxor thottbot, this both starts and ends at varimathras, found in Undercity. There is a path in the apothecarium that leads right to him(notice the bunch of elites on the way).

Now that you have the quest. head to RFC, the instance in Orgrimmar.(cleft of shadow to be more precise)fight your way through the troggs, earthborers, and elementals.
Now youll get to a big area filled with searing blade cultists. The books drops random off one of these.

When you have the books, get to varimathras again for some exp and nice rewards

It would appear that there are two quests for The Power to Destroy? One definitely is within Ragefire Chasm. I'll post tloc locs as soon as available since I'm running it now to assist my best friend.

I at lvl 15 was escorted through by a lvl 33 Warrior but only one of the books was dropped... annoying, now i have to go through again.

ok.... 1st of all u get the quest from the undercity then u go to ogrimmar and u enter the dungeon in cleft of shadow in orgrimmar then u kill like a few bosses til u get the 2 books then after u get the 2 books u get out of the dungeon then then go back to the undercity then talk to who u got the quest from....... YALLA DONE

The dungeon is located inside the city of Orgrimmar. Go to the city and then got to the Cleft of Shadows, in the middle of the map. Walk around in there for a bit and you will see the entrance to the instance.

Okay. If you're in the UnderCity, navigate your way to the Apothecarium. There is a long path leading down in a long spiral. There will be 2 level 60 elite Deathguards on each side of the walls all down the path. This is a good tip you're on the right path.

Once you get down, locate Varimathras (he's a big purple dude w/ big wings). Get the quest from him.

Leave the UnderCity and go to the Zeppelin Tower. Take the Zeppelin to Orgrimmar.

Once you've made it to Orgrimmar, enter the city and locate the Cleft of Shadows. Once you've entered the Cleft of Shadows, you will be headed down a wooden ramp. But if you notice at the very top of the ramp, the railing has a space between it and nothing. Jump through the space to the left from the top of the ramp. Then turn around and you should see the "portal" to the instance.

Once you've entered the instance (this quest is preferably done in a group of 3 or more since every NPC is elite), carefully fight your way through RFC (Ragefire Chasm). You'll eventually kill the right people, and pick up what you need.

Now just go back to the zeppelin, back to the UnderCity, back to the Apothecarium, back to the Royal Quarter, find the path that lead you to Varimathras, go to Varimathras and turn it in. I got 1450 XP, some money, and some gifts. Cool mission but really difficult if you're not careful.

DO NOT GET COCKY IN RFC! Those elites will beat you down quick if you aggro too many of em at once.

You get his quest from Varmithras, IN UNDERCITY, and it ENDS in Undercity. This dungeon is located in the Cleft of Shadows in ORGRIMMAR. Unless you are a noob, and haven't been to Org yet, it's a Horde city, so Alliance CAN'T do this.

I did this quest after it had turned grey for me since previously I was unable to make it solo. I had to kill literally every last creature to finally get both the books and the Spell book was the hardest one to get since I had to go into the last little nook of the cave and kill warlocks, minions, and others to get it. They were the last ones to die and then it dropped off. There is a level 16 Elite Satyrn in there too. At least they don't come back to life in a Dungeon Instance...Good luck everyone!

I solo'd this quest as a lvl 22 paladin (holy) It was very hard and I almost died a couple of times but i think that you can do this with 2 lvl 21's very easy

lvl 18 priest (holy spec) escorted by lvl 25 mage... quite easy with no tank... the thing is that even at my level, the reward is poor... and no good drops; it's worth doing only to gain reputation

On a level 19 hunter it's easy, if you don't pull more than 2 at once, then you die.

its hard (the quest ) if you don't do it carefully I recommend to do it in groups of threes its a lot easier. especially with a lvl 70 to do all the work (but thats not cool). The quest starts in the U.C. (Undercity) the quest giver is the big purple dude w/big purple wings in the royal chamber thing and thats where you turn in the quest.

Completed the quest with a 22 Rogue, stealthed up to isolated cultists, both books dropped off of my third kill.

PS. also soloed Taragaman for giggles.

Books are a random drop. There is no 100% chance you will get it. It took more several runs to get both books.

I got dropped Spells of Shadow book when only just 2 Cultists left alive standing near Bazzalan (i didn't even hoped about drop). That was rarely drop ...
But Incantations from the Nether droped from 1st Warlock.

These things have horrible drop rates, I went in with two 30+ buddies to try and find them and we killed every last searing blade member, didn't find either.

The Power to Destroy is no longer started by Varimathras, but instead by Bragor Bloodfist who resides where Varimathras once did. As such, The Power to Destroy still starts off in The Undercity's Royal Quarter (coordinates 56,92). The books, Spells of Shadow and Incarnations from the Nether, drop from the Searing Blade Warlocks and Searing Blade Cultists found in Ragefire Chasm. The Power to Destroy is one of five quests you should have in your Quest Log prior to entering Ragefire Chasm in Orgrimmar. The other four are Testing an Enemy's Strength, Hidden Enemies, Searching for the Lost Satchel, and Slaying the Beast. Be sure to do the prerequisite quests for Hidden Enemies, which has several preliminary quests with the same name building up to the one that takes you into Ragefire Chasm.

in my search for UC rep i came here... and i did this quest it took me a !@#$ing hour for them to drop. by the looks of things its bastards luck =/ im lvl 60. but i got 350 rep ^^

Ok the books for this quest appear to be random drops from any Searing Blade inside of Ragefire. Hope this helps.

I just did this one and the books do indeed drop off random Blade members.

Turning it in is a little confusing if you've forgotten where the quest-giver is (like I did because I did so many quests in between getting and finishing this one). He's in the Apothecarium Section in the Royal Quarter. It's the large round room on your big map.

went in with a 57 shaman, a 15 priest and myself, a 14 mage, and both books dropped at the second cultist camp we cleared. Or, the shaman cleared.

By the way, this is a Ragefire Chasm dungeon quest, so be sure to pick it up if you're headed in there along with the Orgrimmar and Thunderbluff quests:

Hidden Enemies - Thrall, Orgrimmar
Slaying the Beast - Neeru - Orgrimmar

Testing an Enemy's Strength - Rahauro - Thunderbluff
Searching for the Lost Satchel - Rahauro - Thunderbluff which unlocks - Returning the Lost Satchel - Maur's Corpse (in dungeon)

And of course, this one from Undercity.

Описание

Many denizens of the Legion bestow gifts on their followers as you may well know. Some of these gifts the Dark Lady feels would be better off in her hands than in the hands of those with... lesser vision.

A sect of the Shadow Council hidden in caverns below Orgrimmar known as the Searing Blade are a prime example. The Lady tells me that members of the Searing Blade have come into the possession of two powerful spell books--she would like to "borrow" these books from them. You will get them for her.
