Shadowlands

Ion Hazzikostas confirmed the appearance of the Jailer in the Shadowlands expansion.
At BlizzCon 2019, we saw a silhouette of the Jailer in a final shot of the Shadowlands features trailer, but his features remained shrouded in mystery. He's a central character in Shadowlands, as the expansion is dedicated to learning more about his motives and allies.
Then when
datamining started
for Shadowlands, we posted a model called "Maw Jailer" which had a different silhouette to the image from BlizzCon. It was also unclear if this referred to THE Jailer in Shadowlands, or simply *a* Jailer, as this model was used by
Тюремщик
, a lesser Jailer.
Today in the
Ion Hazzikostas interview with Zoltan
, it was confirmed that the datamined model was the intended model for the main Jailer in Shadowlands. Back at BlizzCon, the model for the Jailer wasn't finalized, so the team opted to display a silhouette instead, sparking much speculation as to his actual appearance.
The model for the Jailer shares similarities to both Sylvanas and the Arbiter, the entity who judges mortal souls in Oribos. Sylvanas and the Jailer both wear grey armor with spikes, which makes sense as they have been working together for many years. And both the Arbiter and Jailer have cavities in their chest--the Jailer's is empty, while the Arbiter's is full. We may be learning more about the similarities between the members of the "Pantheon of Death" in Shadowlands as well, according to the interview!
Do note that all models are not yet final until Shadowlands goes live, so minor tweaks can still be made, but the Jailer should not undergo a radical future appearance.
The Jailer's size has also changed several times over the alpha! Currently he's large, but not as large as N'Zoth. We've also placed him next to the Titans, which is interesting as Titans have two sizes--one that is much bigger than the Jailer (which is used more frequently in game) and one in which they are about the same size. However, when placed to Sylvanas, he towers over her--replicating the visuals in the Shadowlands video.
