This quest is part of a long chain that begins in the Burning Steppes with the quest Broodling Essence from Tinkee Steamboil.

After completing the quest, you can return to Betina Bigglezink at Light's Hope Chapel to get more gambits to activate Vectus.

The first time I dropped the gambit in the viewing room I got a little tingle. I do love this quest. If you have never took time to do it you should!

I've returned to good old classic wow and have been clearing the entire room for a while now.
I love original quests and will have to give this a try.
Farming for Marduk's sword should be alot easier with this.

the quest and the item itself are a direct reference to the Hellraiser series. for every fan of it, seeing the box do its thing would be an orgasm...

Don't try doing this quest in a raid group. You can still enter scholo, and consume the item, but wont get credit for killing Vectus...

I was doing it solo, but was also in the queue for a BWL raid :(

Possibly the best staff for spirit freaks. Pretty cool for mana regeneration when in healing rotations.

When our group activated Dawn's Gambit, we did it in a far corner. The room aggros and if you're in the middle they *all* aggro on you. If you're in a corner, part of them attack immediately and then you can pull them in batches after that. The mobs are pretty brittle and drop fast, but they can zerg you and overwhelm if you're not careful.

i want to farm vectus for the dark advisors pendant... can i abandon this quest after killing him and get a new questitem for him at questgiver?

Edit: It looks like, there is no follow-up.

Does it give any kind of reputation ?

Edit: It gives a significant amount of reputation (if I remember right, 200) for Argent Dawn, of course.

If I complete the quest, can I get another Dawn's Gambit (For farming Vectus)?

Edit: If you complete the quest, you can ask for another box, so, Vectus is farmable.

its a long quest chain, im looked for it for long time, checked thott and allakhazam as well as other wow sites. and finnaly i found (at least i hope) whole chain so i can find where im in it (cause i did some of the quests)

If you're doing this quest with another in your group, make sure everyone places their gambits.

It's a quest requirement. I let a groupmate use his and didn't use mine and now I have to go back... again.

If u have a tank, priest, mage, secondary tank and any DPS, Scholamance is more fun doing with a 5-man party than a raid. Again who wnats to waste a guaranteed cool blue item(quest rewards). With half the people, u got a better chance of getting drops. Wiped the entire isntance twice so far with a 5-man party, once with no wipe. Even when wipe occured, it was not in any difficult area(multiple pull or running into roamers caused the wipe).
Wipe occured even in 10 party raid. Its all about discipline and crowd control when u r in combat

ok what the hell is up with this quest, i placed the Gambit, and all of the students turned to angry 58 elite skeletons and demolished me. wtf. i couldnt even get to Vectus. I dont get this.

I talk to a lot of people who say that it's impossible to do this quest with a 5-man; I'll offer you a strategy:

Easiest way to complete the quest is to get the Viewing Room Key from the boss after the dragon room (sorry, I don't remember his name- Rattlegore or something?) in a Raid, then exit Scholomance. Completely disband the Raid (reset the instance) and take a strong 5-man group with you (you cannot Raid the quest Dawn's Gambit). When you enter, the bridge you are standing on right after the entrance is right above the room that leads to the Viewing Room. Send a Paladin down and have them aggro the room away from the locked door, allowing the key bearer (hopefully a Druid, Priest, Pally, Shaman or someone with jumper cables) to jump down, open the door, and run inside without gaining any aggro. After the Pally dies, have the key bearer rez him. Then do the same with a Warlock: have the Warlock jump down from the bridge, die near the door, and have the Pally rez him when he's dead and the aggro is gone. Now you can summon the other 2 party members (with the Warlock). Rest up, buff up, then place Dawn's Gambit in the Viewing Room and get ready for some aoe action as the whole room of npcs turn into skelletons and attack you wave after wave. After all that, you kill Vectus and his minion (pull the minion first- makes Vec much easier). Sounds longwinded, but only took me about an hour (including the run to get the key).

Did this 5-man tonight. Set the box in the middle of the room, all the scholars aggroed and our mage kited them all in circles with AOE. They were dead in a few seconds.

This quest starts the chain to get this quest, none of the steps are very hard and can be done in pickup groups or solo.

Does anyone know of a way to continuesly pick up more Dawn's Gambits. The reason I ask is because im interested in farming Vectus until he drops Skullsmoke Leggings. I have one but I am hestitant to use it especially in a pick up raid to scholo.

If you play as a mage, please don't vendor or disenchant the staff! This weapon has the second highest spirit in the game. Equipping it will make evocation restore 464 more mana (assuming you don't have any spirit on your current weapons).

Descrição

I've placed Dawn's Gambit in the container you brought to us, the one that held the dragon eggs. Your job is to bring it deep within the Scholomance.

The undead mage Vectus leads a team of Scourge scholars... place Dawn's Gambit in their chamber, called the "viewing room." It will then react with the undead found there and, with a little luck, destroy them!

After that, defeating Vectus shouldn't be a problem. Right?
