This raptor hatchling is similar to Spring Rabbit. He will stop walk around and then jump back to you and make a little screech.

all the little raptor drops are BoU, i got the darting hatchling on my server and sold it for 1k gold. then i was told i could have gotten more....for shame.

This cute little blue Hatchling occasionally stops and paces about for a moment. After a short time, he leaps towards you with a tiny roar.

If you are not outside the minimum range, he will not leap.

Got him the other day. All he does is pace around. Tried being close and farther away. Nothing else. very sad :(

I got 2 of these today.

First was at 5:27 GMT, spawn point : Large tree.

Second was 4 hours later at 9:27 GMT, spawn point was west of the tree, near sludgefen

Him having a set 7hr respawn all the time is false..it ranges from at least 4-7hrs based on reports.

Yikes, can't believe the WoWhead price for this is 500G! On my server they were 4k, dropped to 2.6k now and I just snagged one in trade for 1kG. :( I know the price will drop eventually, but I want one now, darnit!

i think my one has a birth defect or something, sat around in dal courtyard for about 20 minutes waiting for him to amuse me. just walked away from me then walked back, nothing leapey about my pet, not even a cute squawk-:(

PTR Notes (Build 10623):

Hatchlings: Leaping, Darting, Razormaw, and Ravasaur Hatchlings no longer drop from their associated rare creatures. Instead, there are now rare nests that spawn which contain these hatchlings. For example, the Leaping Hatchling can now be found in Takk’s Nest rather than as a drop from Takk the Leaper.

Personal Notes:

Both the nests and rare spawn raptors can be up at the same time.
Rare spawn raptors no longer drop the mini pets; they can only be obtained from the nests.
100% loot chance for the mini pets from nests.
Nests can only spawn near the location of the rare spawn raptors but not always in the same spot (almost certain). Example: Dart's nest can only be found around the location where Dart spawns even if it's not in the same spot where it last spawned.
Nest spawn timer is about the same as rare spawn raptors on LIVE realms.

Just got my first hatchling from Takk's Nest after a server restart. Can't say for sure whether it was BECAUSE of the restart that the nest showed up or not as I have collected 3 over the past 3 nights when the lil guy still dropped from Takk =/

May just be that my server doesn't have much activity at 4:30 am =)

Does the nest always spawn by a tree, or could it be out in the open?

Update: Well scratch that question I found it by a tree. Also, it seems everyone is finding them by tress so I guess they don't spawn in the open.

So if you're looking for one just keep searching the trees in the area where Takk the Leaper spawns.

I've been looking for the nest for a few days now. I've found Takk several times after a few hours of killing striders, raptors and lions. I've been running around all the trees in the area, scanning them with my cursor. My logic is that the Stolen Silver quest has all the raptors nests by trees so I thought that would be a good place to try. I still haven't been able to pick it up, even after 2-3 hours of solid scanning. From the posts it appears to be a random location. Is it also a random time or is it linked to Takk's appearance?

the spawn timers of the nests seem to be roughly as frequent as Takk himself spawns & i too was going to give the same 2 co-ordinates as Tom there but say they were up. good hunting guys

I thought this was going to take forever to get since it was so close to Orgrimmar, and I figured everyone that was interested in this pet - or making a buck - would be consciously farming them out the back door of Org. Surprisingly, it only took me 4 random checking trips to procure this cutie. Now if only the Time Lost Proto Drake was this easy to find...

do you have to kill Takk in order for the nest to spawn? Or can you just find the nest and loot it?

Takk and the nest are on different respawn timers, you can find the nest without killing Takk.

so I am curious as to how long of a wait before the nest spawned for any of you and I can't figure out how to look up co-ordinates on my wow map unless there is an add on just wondering if someone would be so kind to help me out.

My personal experience is that the spawn time is between 4~6 hours after the rare nest has been looted.
The spawn of the rare nest is different from Takk.
There are a total of 4 spawn points of the rare nest.

I can't believe I just found out about the nests...I was never before inclined to get these hatchlings because farming rare spawns is never fun. However, since these nests were introduced, I've found four Leaping Hatchlings, one for my main, alt, and two to sell! Plus various other hatchlings. Funnily enough, in my searches I've run across more than a few of the rare spawn raptors, and I sort of wish they still dropped the pets now!

100% drop from Takk the Leaper, a blue Raptor in the Barrens around 60.0, 8.0. This is near the Sludge Fens. Don't know the spawn rate of Takk, but it took me 6 minutes to find him.

Does not drop from Takk anymore.
Can be found inside rare spawned Takk's nest now.
Found one under a tree in the Takk area after looking around for 2 min; guess I was lucky.
The pet is very cute :p

I was camped in a tree in the Barrens for about six hours when I decided to drop down and take a look. As I rounded the hills, I spotted Takk roaming around a tree. I cut a wide path around Takk, as I was unsure if killing Takk would affect the nest. Snooping around the trees in the area, I found the nest under the tree located at 58.43, 8.28. The time was 1:18pm Central time. This is an awesome pet! He started following after me, then stopped. I turned to watch him as he shuffled to the left, then to the right... then leaped right at me! Scared me so bad, I soiled my Dementia Trousers! He is definitely a keeper!
