The latest Cataclysm hotfixes have been posted; Blizzard is now calling this "4.0.6a." New hotfixes have just been added, so check 'em all out!
Notable changes include:
(

was not firing while the hunter was moving under certain conditions. Auto Shot should now always function correctly while the hunter is moving.
Some Vicious Gladiator's weapons (item level 359) incorrectly had their costs increased. This has been corrected. Two-hand and ranged weapons now cost 3400 Conquest Points, while one-hand and caster weapons now cost 2450 Conquest Points.
All Vicious Gladiator's weapons (item level 372) have been temporarily removed from the Glorious Conquest Quartermasters until the time is right to officially introduce them into Azerothian society.

First Batch of Patch 4.0.6 Hotfixes Posted! (Feb 8)
The first batch of post-4.0.6 hotfixes went live today, and I'm sure we can anticipate quite a few more over the upcoming weeks.

Goblin

Worgen

Love is in the Air

Smolderweb Hatchling and Worg Pup Companions Re-added in 4.0.6!
Great news for companion pet collectors! Some of you may have noticed that some new versions of the old Lower
Blackrock Spire
quest reward pets
Worg Pup
and
Smolderweb Hatchling
showed up in one of the 4.0.6 PTR builds. However, Blizzard made no note of these items being made available in their patch notes (or anywhere else, for that matter).
Many players who never completed
En-Ay-Es-Tee-Why
or
Kibler's Exotic Pets
were disappointed to find that these quest (and the pet rewards) were removed with Cataclysm. My druid, a
Bloodsail Admiral
, was unable to speak to the goblin NPC and therefore was missing the spider pet herself - until now!
It appears that these "new" companion pets were indeed added in 4.0.6!
The
Smolderweb Egg
now drops from
Mother Smolderweb
in Lower
Blackrock Spire

The
Worg Carrier
now drops from
Quartermaster Zigris

Patch 4.0.6 Coming Next Week?
MAYBE.
An interesting blog showed up in our RSS readers and (for a brief moment) on the official World of Warcraft website. This placeholder blog post, which obviously wasn't supposed to go live (oops), features none other than the Patch 4.0.6 Official Notes! Blizzard are obviously getting ready to post these official patch notes - does this mean the patch is coming next week? Hopefully!

PTR Patch 4.0.6 Notes Updated (1/28)
Just a quick batch of Friday night PTR patch notes updates! Notable changes include:
Tol Barad
Attacking forces will receive a 200% capture speed bonus when they control 2 keeps.
Defending forces will receive a 200% capture speed bonus when they control all 3 keeps.
Normal PvE helms (item level 359) no longer have a chance to drop from Nefarian or Cho'gall on Heroic difficulty. Instead, the Heroic PvE helm and shoulder pieces (item level 372) only require their associated Crown/Shoulders of the Forlorn tokens to purchase, and do not require players to obtain the normal helms or shoulders first.

Latest Cataclysm hotfixes have been posted!
Notable hotfixes include:
Heroic set tokens have been moved to earlier bosses on 25-player Heroic difficulty (chest from Halfus, legs from Maloriak, gloves from Magmaw, helm from Nefarian, shoulder from Cho'gall).
Tokens for normal versions of the helm and shoulder set pieces (item level 359) now drop from Nefarian and Cho'gall on Heroic difficulty, as they are required to purchase the Heroic helm and shoulder pieces (item level 372). An additional change to this functionality is slated for patch 4.0.6.

The daily Random Dungeon reward on normal difficulty has been increased to

Justice Points

Players no longer need to discover Cataclysm dungeon entrances in order to access them via the Dungeon Finder.
These changes will probably cause a lot of "omg catering to casuals lol" forum rage, but for those of us who
like
conveniences rather than feeling as though we constantly need to be challenged (such as by having to fly ALL THE WAY to a dungeon entrance to "discover it"), they're definitely welcome changes! Yeah, I get it, it makes things easier but c'mon, get real - it wasn't exactly some huge challenge or marvelous feat in the first place. I haven't even wanted to level my warrior (for whom I wanted to use the Dungeon Finder to victory) just because I don't feel like going to discover al

Latest Cataclysm hotfixes have been posted!
Notable hotfixes include:
Guild experience daily resets should no longer sometimes fail to occur.
(
Death Knight
)
Necrotic Strike
is now affected by resilience.
(
Druid

Rejuvenation
now consumes 16% of base mana, down from 26%, but still requires 26% of base mana in order to be cast.
(
Mage
) The mana costs of the following mage spells have been reduced, but they still require the previous percentage of base mana in order to be cast:
Arcane Barrage
(11% of base mana),
Arcane Blast
(7% of base mana), and
Fireball
(12% of base mana). As an example,
Fireball
requires 16% base mana to cast, but only consumes 12% of base mana.
Lifebound Alchemist Stone
can no longer be disenchanted.
In addition, there are a number of
Tol Barad
questing fixes and changing. Apparently not even the quests can be properly balanced.

Ready for Raiding: Flasks, Elixirs, Potions and You!
Do you want to be better at your class? Sure, we all do. The first step to a successful raid is to learn as much as possible about playing your class to its potential, and executing what you've learned in a clean and understanding fashion. The next step? Mind-altering and strength-modifying chemicals!
No raiding career is complete without the hundreds of hours spent farming raw materials for consumables! Right? Of course, some clever players opt to instead farm the Auction House, scoring the sweet deals and making good plays that earn them the money to supplement their raiding "habit." For everyone else though, it means knowing an
Alchemist
and getting them the herbs they need to help you! So what flasks do you need? What herbs do they take? Where is lizard help? Don't worry, Wowhead's got you covered.
I've put together a guide to help familiarize players with the new consumables available for Cataclysm content. This should serve as an informative introduction as well as a strong reference for all of your flask, elixir and potion needs! Be sure to check out the detailed guide, including run-downs of all-things liquid and c

Cataclysm Soundtrack: Reviewed
I don't bring this up all the time because I know it's not something that everyone shares with me, but I
love
video game music.
This started long before video game music was actually good enough to be worth of love. I'm the guy who settles in for long car trips by listening to music from the original
Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack
. I love the soundtracks to the NES
DuckTales
game,
Toejam & Earl
, and
Mega Man
. I'm a big fan of the
Descendants of Erdrick
.
So with that in mind, about two years ago I wrote a blog about the soundtrack to Wrath of the Lich King. If you're interested in reading it, you can find it here:

With this in mind, I'd like to talk a little bit about the
