imo, survival should become a tank spec. bm should become a melee only spec (like current survival is) and mm should be pure ranged like it already is.
SV's success as a spec has more or less been directly proportional to how ranged it is. It's most successful years were when the melee was at it's most sidelined state: Cata, MoP, and WoD (at least before 6.2). It's worst was seen in Legion when they made it mostly pure melee with no use of a ranged weapon. The BFA and SL versions fared a bit better than Legion; still no real ranged weapon but at least access to some ranged weapon abilities with an animation-only corssbow. In simple terms, history shows that when it comes to Hunter specs it's ranged weapon or bust. Once again, for Survival, Blizzard doubles down on "bust".Hope it's worth yet another expansion of floundering and lack of direction for the spec...
well that's disappointing. what's the point of having these huge talent trees then? people have been asking for the old spec back since it was removed and this is the perfect opportunity to have 2 branching playstyles?

unpopular opinion, I love survival hunter, I main Ret Pally but am happy to see that Surv is getting love and i can use mine for more than a crafting alt with dragonflight looking to be much more alt friendly. Dont think it should be a tank spec, hope if can get some better pacing so its not so painful to play in ST situations.
IMO Survival should he allowed to dual wield instead of just having to use 2handers
I play Survival and I love it! I'm very excited to see the changes they make and play around with it.
I've never understood why survi became the meele spec, why not the BM. Doesn't it make sense a Beast Mastery hunters fight side by side with their beasts?
