Two things - 1) Really bad timing on this. And it's a shame people are going to lose their jobs. 2) Finally. Consolidating support ops and non-dev resources into the main team in US is something that they've needed to do for many years. I hope this means they'll also start consolidating the forums and maintenance for WoW. This is a good move.
Good Job.I think we should give another 200 m to Boby!
Maybe they could move some of those people into support,..or use some of the "saved funds" to improve a few things. For many years now the Oceanic servers have day/night around the wrong way,..and the calendar is off for our time zones. And though it's been bought up for many many years on the forums,.nothing has been done about it, and there is little to no comment at all on the numerous posts about it. I know we're a small fish and we get forgotten about down here (What,..where's Australia and New Zealand,..who are they?),....but for those of us who have played for many many year,...the lack of support for us is quite poor really.I get they need to "improve" business and no company will just pay to things going that aren't improving the bottom line. But surely customer satisfaction has to have SOME affect on how well the company does overall? A little bit more "goodwill" goes a long way.....Just my 5cents worth and my personal opinion :)Sorry to all the people losing jobs,...that's never a nice thing to happen. Hopefully they can move into other fields quickly.
They are not "consolidating" operations, they are REFORGING them.
So the fat cat gets $200,000,000.00 and the cleaner loses their job. Well done Blizzard great job all round.
Hope that your game will die out already.
so this is allready happening again and alot companys layoff even faster thanks to the virus
Disgusting all these layoffs with the money they are making. People need the income more than ever during the current hard times. I'm out won't be coming back wow can go to the $%^&ter.
Alas, this smells like they are trying to merge offices with the rest of Activision Blizzard staff, to cut down where they know they can. It makes sense when looked at it like that but it EXTREMELY SUCKS that they are doing it in a time like this, as well as in general butchering the spirit of their companies meanwhile trying to keep a smile on their face while trying to have people support a cause that is very good. More people, as I've seen before in comments, are just going to opt-out of supporting the charity event due to Blizzard and their higher up's handling.
Is this real? Is this a joke? WTH is going on? Why?
You gotta do what you gotta do. Kotick's pay and people being fired are not related. I don't know what are people expecting, for him to personally finance their stay? They are running a company not a charity.
How to "achieve" a target that rewards bonuses equal to THOUSANDS of employees yearly salary? Lay off hundreds of workers! Check my post in previous article for details and this time it seems like that fat CEO is aiming for THREE HUNDRED MILLION dollars worth of bonuses.
Bobby Kotick makes the devil look like a saint, I do wish the worst for him.
Sad, but another victory at least for the UK over the EU.
