I love all of these changes and stuff, but can we PLEASE get clarification on the PvP balancing side of this? PvP is already incredibly unbalanced in its current state, and i'm really hoping they do something about it with these new essences. Personally i'd reduce some effects by 80%, 70%, 50%, etc, depending on the power. And also, please don't implement something like maledict again :(
I sure am excited to gain some mana regen on my frost mage.
On vision of perfection, where it says "base cooldown", do they mean "base duration?" "Cooldown" there really doesn't make sense.
This si so cool. I'am really looking forward for this new essence system, which look much more interresting than legion legendary and Bfa azerite system.
These are technically spec-specific, because they use your spec's resource and cooldown, but they don't change your gameplay like the usable artifact abilities, and the active abilities that just double the amount of resource you generate are super boring, using up a GCD for a buff, which was the main complaint in BFA alpha/beta with putting everything on the GCD in the first place-- the devs clearly did not learn that lesson. So far every single essence I've seen has been completely unexciting. The promise of this system is being buried by generic boring abilities they grant. As is so often the case, Blizzard offered a really neat promising design and then failed in implementation.
Clutching at straws to call these "spec specific" if it's just a generic "increase your class's resource generation" and "randomly activate/decrease the cooldown of your big CD". From the title, I thought it was going to be spec perks like the artifact weapon traits.
I dont see enough butt hurt comments.I will fill it"I'M ANGRY ABOUT EVERYTHING REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Some of these look pretty neat. I like messing with cooldown timers, haven't really been able to do that since MoP. Naturally proccing a cooldown instead of never using it because I might need it next pool is great, heh.
I can't believe that they didn't take the opportunity to make a Smoldering Heart-like effect for Ascendance with Enhancement. Very dissapointing, especially since the spell for which you are reducing the cooldown is also very dissapointing in general.
My main question is for Affliction Warlock. With affliction, the main benefit of Summon Darkglare isn't the extra pet, it's the fact that summoning it instantly extends the duration of all your dots by 8 seconds. When summoned by the essence, does that effect trigger? I imagine whether or not that effect triggers will make that essence either super good or super bad for Afflock
I understand that lucid dreams is supposed to be a resource-based essence, but the dps classes that don't have secondary resources besides mana kind of don't get much value out of these. Which makes me glad to have a warlock as a main, because generating more soul shards is always welcome. Too bad for you, you nerd-mages. Enjoy your extra mana, frost and fire mages. That Vision of Perfection looks fun though.
Hmmmm the Tank versions need some serious work. Prot Pallys getting shafted here so far with no mana consumption on base abilities and the CD reduction on SotR is pretty minor for a 10sec duration on 3min cooldown. Not even wanna start talking about the Avatar CD reduction for Prot Warrior.
