Really appreciate the fresh perspective for this article series! Nice work Samadan! :^D
I like the format! I would love to see the other lesser known ones you didnt mention (besides checking out the discord and economy reddit).
For pet trading, I don't think it's necessarily bad to have gold spread over several servers. Sometimes you need enough for a big purchase on a different server. 50k g on an alt server is worth more than the same amount on a main realm where you already have a couple of million. It lets you shop around, or grab an item rare enough it's only on a few servers at a time. Enough gold banked on alt realms from pet trading, and you might be able to find carriers if they're scarce on your home realm. The disadvantage is if that purchase is a great deal on an xmog you want to use, you have to level a character in order to use it.
Seems like an accurate summary of the main avenues for gold-making. I’m sure most of us are a mix of several, however. Personally I do often stop when passing a convenient node, depending on how much of a hurry I’m in. I craft a few older unique appearance items and even the Steel-bound Harness core-hound mount from Legion. It requires Sargeras’ Blood so there is some farming involved in keeping those in stock since they only come from WQ’s and gathering, and are BoP. That and some cooking foods that are worth it at the moment. Also, I always sell any Augment runes I get from LFR or the Mission table. I don’t raid at the moment and they sell for 4-500 gold apiece right now. Definitely worth the time to post my always limited supply!
Farmer and Resource Collector here.I farm old Raids using the LFR NPCs, and collect resources and sell them. Details in my blog.
Retired Mission RunnerYour army of alts made you millions during the roaring WoDs and Legions. Everything else seems like chump change now.
Crafting gear in BfA is not lucrative, as anything except low level items is BoP.
I've made 70 million gold crafting just BFA items this expansion. Your comment is inaccurate, in my experience.
Thanks all for your comments and tales of gold!
Thanks so much on this article Samadan! It's great to see a new perspective, and I really like how you highlighted some of the main (and often times overlooked) ways of making gold! I love that you didn't say which was the "best" way of making gold, because I don't think there is a "best" way. There is only the "best way for you" to make gold. I feel like this is a great little intro for anyone who just doesn't know where to start with their gold making. It's a great list where they can see what interests them or if some activities they are already doing can be a bit more lucrative. Great job! Thank you!Edit: P.S. I LOVED all the adorable Samadan pictures!
