RIP brothers
they had fun thats the main thing :D
this the 2nd guild to step down from race to world first raiding this tier ?
This is going to continue to happen with a lot of these guilds. The guys at the top are who make the guild, and rarely does a raider want to step up to take over(they want to raid, they dont want to be management). There's just too much work involved. Hell, our 2 day guild, my raid leader already spends so much time.. can't imagine being a RWF guild as well, and everything is on YOUR shoulders. A lot of this stuff just can't be delegated away for someone else to do. Its just not how this world works. An insane amount of pressure, an insane amount of work involved to just be where they are. I'm sure this is a huge relief to their GM. Man can actually LIVE life now.
I get deciding to retire from wfr but why completely back down from raiding? Sepulcher is such a banger raid and I expect future raids to be even better so you are just shooting yourself in the foot by completely disbanding if your goal is to just have fun with the game
I still believe the healthiest things for RWF, both for the players and the integrity of the race, is to have it happen on the tournament realm with all gear accessible to the raiders.
That's what happens when you make raids so overtuned that even best guilds in the world are quit, yet alone average guilds that are disbanding on daily basis.
Yeah, I gotta say that I think there's a middle ground between being a world first contender and not raiding at all. I don't think disbanding entirely is necessary if all they wanted to do was drop out of RWF. In any case, I hope the rest of the guild was ok with this decision and it's not just the GM/RL pulling the rug out from under all of them.
We can not blame the developers for making a tier too hard. Raids are meant to last. The effort that the RWF guilds put into is unhealthy and unecessary, probably why the RWF remains unofficial and blizzard hasn't made it an actual event with set rules (like the race beginning at the same time for everyone). I mean, if they want to squeeze all the fun and their lives for the first place, it's their decision and none is to be blamed. A hard raid is nice , and the weekly progression should be normal and expected, once you reach the harder bosses, one boss per week as you gain more gear.
Blaming raid design for the production problems these orgs had holding their RWF events is dumb to think on multiple levels. Don't even put that out there like thatt. The community event is its own thing and raid design has no reason to be constructed around it, or even consider it's existence. If RWF is a show these orgs want to continue to put on they will find a way. Maybe mass travel and renting out massive live venues for multiple weeks just isn't the way this should be done going forward.
Having to put in the effort without much compensation, recognition or support from blizzard is hard.Having to do it when the game is at such a sorry state.. no wonder so many guilds are quitting. The fact that they did it after the new expansion was announced speaks volumes. Blizzard freeloaded on the goodwill and creativity of their fanbase for way too long.
This most recent RWF seemed to take a particularly large toll on all the players of every top guild... Chinese guild Aster disbanding, now SK Pieces is disbanding... Liquid got burnt out hard and dropped from 2nd/3rd, to 5th... Even Echo was over the last RWF too! It's gotta be a huge leap of faith to just grind a video game for a month straight like they do in RWF... Sad to see the players lose the passion for the game we all love.
