Warcraft the movie 2?
Still don't understand why they thought it was a good idea for Dalaran to already be in the sky. Such a HUGE lore !@#$-up and for absolutely no reason at all. I honestly enjoyed the movie but that is just such a glaring mistake. It hurts.
Loved movie :)
This is why you should start with Arthas -> Lich King for a story and not jumble as much of the original game and new plot line into one thing.
I thought the movie was a spectacle for sure. Even as a diehard alliance player, the orcs were leaps and bounds better than the alliance stuff. The alliance actors were just so so so so bad, as was the general writing, imo.Get better writers and much better live actors and I'd contemplate seeing a 2nd movie.
Maybe we could get a second movie as a direct to Netflix thing. I liked the movie and was really looking forward to them eventually doing an Arthas movie.

Please Blizzard, give us a second movie!
I was really disappointed with the movie derailing from the lore and after reading this I understand that it was blizzard's call. They had to make room for the horde characters to be good too so that they appease half the playerbase. I am a horde player and I might say now that i wouldn't mind the movie to go according to the lore and depict the horde as evil, but who knows maybe I would. As for the minor (to me personally) changes like dalaran flying and garona's race I guess they happened as a retaliation of the movie creators to blizzard's marketing, so that people like me will go mad anyways. One thing eludes me though. They knew their lore, they knew their characters and they know what got people hooked to warcraft in the first place. Why did they choose to create a movie around the first war? What were they trying to achieve? I mean someone might say they wanted to start from the beginning, but you have to consider the first war isn't the beginning of warcraft lore. Why didn't they choose the warcraft 3 setting or some world of warcraft expansion setting? Why didn't they choose Rhonin's adventures? Anyways I am willing to forget everything as long as another movie comes out and they are wiser with what they show. After all it is us lore geeks who board the hype train first and everyone else follows. As for the American sales its pretty obvious that the lore geeks rushed to bury the movie and the rest were like "this guy who is addicted to warcraft said it's bad, why would I go watch it?"
I feel like another issue lies in pompous movie critics. Truth be told in their eyes no movie is a good movie unless it's made by the big mouse himself. *cough* Rotten tomatoes *cough*. I'm not saying that there aren't exceptions. However, most articles tend to talk about how good the next marvel film is going to be and then turn around and talk crap about any other franchise before they've even released their first film. And this is coming from a guy who LOVES disney movies.
Thank you for sharing the concept art
The film was genuinely bad. Even if you forget everything you knew about Warcraft and watch it with clear mind, it's still bad. The plot was bad and followed a beaten fantasy formula, was overload with clichés, had predictable plot twists and added too many completely redundant things which only made the movie feel stretched. Garona's romance was absolutely unnecessary, came out of nowhere, didn't make sense and was impossible to empathize with. Lothar's son exists with the sole purpose of dying in the end so viewers would be shocked (to be fair, the nature of his death came out as a surprise to me, but the ultimate fate definitely did not). Alodi's scene felt like a robbery of time, with these mysterious, but completely meaningless words. I could go on.The film could've been better if it actually attempted to tell an original fantasy story instead of trying to shoehorn some "essential" story elements, exposition and the world (which viewers likely won't see again). If many of these scenes and characters didn't exist, they would have more time to develop actually interesting ones. The ending is essentially the deconstruction of the idea that good triumphs over bad, with most sympathetic characters killed off, treacherous Doomhammer in charge and Go'el's escape which only seems as something good for those familiar with lore and was added as a "to be continued" nod, because directors considered a sequel to be possible or even certain.FIlm's only saving grace were the visuals: absolutely stunning display of arcane magic, great-looking orcs (even though their CGI was showing sometimes) and plenty of picturesque moments which made great screenshots and wallpapers. Other than that, it was a cheap fantasy piece that doesn't really bring anything new to the genre.
I thought the movie was disappointing. The orcs hands looked ridiculously plastic, and the pacing was erratic and poorly paced. I found myself not really caring what happened 30 minutes in. Please don't make another one.
It left me disappointed seeing established lore vs the movie's interpretation of said lore. Floating Dalaran, Khadgar not aging, the way and place King Llane died...the list is as long as the movie is. However, there are a few things we forget here we should keep in mind. With the exception of the Lord of the Rings, typically movies are "based upon/on" events, stories, or books. Often times the media the movie is basing it on tells it one way and the movie does it differently, that's why they say "based on/upon" and not exact copy. The other thing to keep in mind here is the nature of WoW lore. We have literally hours upon hours of lore that needs to be compressed into a 2-3 hour movie. Not only that but the important components of the film need to be organic and flow from one point to the next. That is often very challenging when telling a story after having chopped up nearly 3/4ths of it. Don't believe me? Take a book, any book, rip out 3/4ths of the pages from it, now read it...it will make absolutely no sense, you have to create a short narrative between pages to explain the next set, kind of like a transition phase. Now because you tossed those other pages without reading them, you may come up with something entirely alien to what you had. Someone may come along read the pages, read what you wrote and go WTF mate? That essentially happened with this movie, why was the city of Dalarn floating in the sky? Because it was seen as a magical city and they needed a way to make it stand out without explaining why its a magical city and not having the time to explain it or Dalaran's true lore. At least they were faithful to the end result which was that Dalaran is actually a floating city much later in its lore. Do I like the changes? No, but I do understand their reasoning for them. Someone recorded all of Humans Vs Orcs on YouTube the entire game narrative...its just too dang long for a movie not to mention it does not fully explain a lot of what we know now either. Honestly I think the whole lot did a great job on the movie and I own the steelbox edition and watch it often. It isn't perfect but it works. I look for the day when fans can make a full CGI movie or work with Blizz for that. It would be nice to see a true representation of lore. That all being said, Stormwind in the movie had such a horrible district layout lol it had the general feeling of Stormwind but looked nothing like it.
