I don't understand the point of making a separate "returning players" guide for people who quit for each expansion. Wouldn't it be better to make a "returning players" guide that explains the systems NOW rather than how they've changed since ___?
This doesnt make sense to me. The game now is so different than what was in vanilla or BC that its like learning a new game. The cosmetics are similar but the mechanics are vastly different. Have a guide that teaches the basics of the game now. I see no point in a comparison between each of the previous xpacs. Just my two cents.
For everyone that quit during whatever: https://i.redd.it/7zo35vzzn9lz.jpg
Personally I'm looking forward to the Wrath of the Lich King guide.I first started playing about 6 months into WOTLK, and while I've not taken a break longer than a couple of months since then, I'm loving the chance to see a comparison between what I'm playing now and the game as it existed when I started. As Perculia has noted, there are plenty of more generic guides. If this doesn't interest you, go read something that does. Why complain about something that adds value, just because it isn't specifically valuable to you?
Next up in the series:Returning Player Guide - If you quit after wiping on the 3rd boss in Ulduar (What has changed since?)Returning Player Guide - If you quit before 8:34 PM PST on April 7, 2006 (What has changed since?)Returning Player Guide - If you quit before WoW was released (What has changed since?)Please excuse my poor attempt at sarcastic humor! :)
Players that quit back then can't even remember the game with any clarity so what is the point?
Since my 1. post was awful i will try really hard to hold myself and avoid to tell them truth so like Mfuehreh wrote what is point since for sure they have no idea how it was and how it is now and what they will gain by reading this?Probably they will be even more confused since they are at retirement home old brain is not working like young not sure they will be able to realize what happend.
I started in BC, a month after the expansion's release, though never quit and kept playing through the other expansions. I'm on a break during the downtime. However, it is nice to see guides like these!
I cant believe there is so many negative people moaning about different guides :-/ Like really people? You gonna do anything to get some attention? You have nothing better to do? You so smart then go and write your own super informative guide that will cover every aspect of this game from perspective of every xpac :-/ Most of this ppl would not even know how to start ;-) I think its brilliant idea to make separate guides for different xpacs even if those information's will not be game changing. I would like to know for example what happened with Badge of Justice system in every xpac. I would love to learn about other mechanics even if they were dumped in next xpac. Like Artifact weapon system from Legion... in few years when they get few xpacs released not many returning players will know about this system if they quit for example in WotLK and return in like 2 xpacs after BfA. Keep up good work wowhead team and ban them toxic moaners! Btw English is not my native so apologies in advance :D
Just had a browse through this and the "returning Vanilla player" guide and with the exception of the "plot so far" part they seem pretty much copies of each. other.I must admit like others I don't see the point of having 6 different articles for returning players when they're all going to contain a large amount of the same information each time, unless you have some sort of article quota to meet.
