... I just want the gladiator spec back :(
I just wish either demoralizing shout or ignore pain was off gcd. Just feels bad when demoralizing shout isn't talented and you get put on gcd without generating any rage or threat.
I actually dislike booming voice and wish they'd make devastator more competitive with it. I prefer that play style where I don't have a pointless filler attack. I just want to push my generators AMs and procs and not worry that every extra GCD is filled with devastate
But Devastator is my favorite prot warrior talent! :(
IMO Blizzard should really do to Devastate something similar to what they did to Furious Slash for Fury. Make Devastator the baseline and make Devastate an interesting talent.
I actually quite like Protection, I don't really mind IP being on the GCD. What's more annoying for me personally is Devastate, I really liked the Devastator gameplay, and you end up pressing it so rarely we might as well just have Devastator baseline or something. That said, this overview while useful, is a bit disappointing. I was expecting some Azerite trait overview... :( Prot has several interesting ones, I think.
I hear you, :(
Would you recommend prot warrior for a newbie tank? From what I've heard prot warrior is sh*t tier however you guys seems to be much more optimistic. I love arms and fury but hate looong LFG queues and Im looking for a class with heal or tank offspec and warrior hits all of my spots except most of ppl are complaining about prot being bad.
Personally, I wish Ignore Pain was replaced. I hate it.>.>I played Prot Warrior until Legion when it was introduced, and it just felt boring. I'd rather go back to tab-targeting sunder applications on groups of mobs like we did way back when, than have to even press Ignore Pain. Why?Dunno, can't figure it out. Before Legion I would tell everyone prot warrior was the fun tank spec. You just go flying across the screen and bouncing around like a pinball as you wreck everything. Pow pow pow pow, smash, roar, cling cling! Those are some seriously nerdy sound effects I'm making as I type them.Just everything was about smashing face. Then along came this ability that eats up your rage, has no visual impact and is all, "We take away your rage to make you momentarily tankier."I like the change to GCD. It's less important now. I build up rage and have fun, then get to decide if I want to cast revenge or if I need a very small boost in protection.I remember being a Troll in the Ghostlands in BC (everyone wanted to level in the new areas) when I first started playing warrior. I loved seeing Revenge light up, because that meant I had just avoided/blocked someone's attack and was going to smash them in return. Now it's less "If you hit me, I hit you back harder" and more "I've taken a beating, do I want to flail my weapon out and hit some people in front of me in a small cleave, or do I want to grit my teeth and keep taking a beating."So yeah, I miss Revenge making me feel good, and Ignore Pain makes me feel annoyed. Being hit fueled my rage, which imo should be used to hit back. I don't want to get angry and decide to endure more hits. I want it to bottle up and then explode.Just my two cents.
I have wondered for a long time if the Head of Warrior Development at Blizz was a druid tank in Vanilla. The present state of Prot is severely gimped when compared to the other classes. As Wowhead's series about the current state affairs in M+ state, Prot Warriors are no where to be found on the preferred tanks to bring. In fact, they are at the very bottom. Why?With the changes in gameplay to the GCD changes, with the reduction in magical mitigation, and the reduced health pool, it begs the question, why continue to play a prot? I know someone has to be the bottom feeder, but does the seabed have to be so deep? Is this a, "Prot Warriors had their day in the sun, now it is time to put them in their place and make them suffer?" Listen to the corps of Prots and address the glaring deficiencies that BFA has introduced to the spec. The machine gun style of play many of us enjoyed playing is over it seems, but please make us a viable option for High Keystones and Raiding, and not the tank that we seem to be right now in the beta.
I was planning to go prot warrior this expansion because I grew tired of paladin’s active mitigation. However warrior feels like something is wrong with ignore pain. It feels like it’s a healing skill but it’s not. Also the amount of buttons you have to press in order to compete with a bear tank in survivability is absurd.IMO they should replace ignore pain with a frenzied regen ability that heals you per rage spent and at the same time buff base block amount.
Thank you for putting together this guide/review but it doesn't look like enough time went into it compared to the other reviews. Can we please get more insight behind the talents, azerite traits, strengths/weaknesses? i especially appreciate other reviews' good/bad/ugly sections
By far the best and most enjoyable tank spec going into BfA. AoE is so amazing.
