this will be huge for several rwf guilds
Oh no not mean words!
How is this going to work in a LFG dungeon/raid if we need to communicate to the party - tank/healer?I had to come back and edit this: So to respond and clarify - I read this as the ability to block all messages and communications. I wasn't referring to insulting or vulgarity. I was just thinking what if I have to ask a question in LFG/LFR and it is set to everyone.I also dislike how some individuals that responded to me were quick to assume that I would attack a player with vulgar chat.
This is still not authorization to chat stupid stuff. It's still bannable and people may still report you.
I think this is more so to prevent people from whispering you insults because they’re angry people who take it out in a video game. Not block us from whispering people entirely.
I am very offended by these words... unless I previously ran a dungeon with them.
Why have these options and then ban people for using the censored language anyways...
Us being able to tailor our censorship is a good change, since we can opt out of doing it altogether if we want. Also, the concept might be helpful for streamers, but we've still seen players weasel their way around some of that.
this is PERFECT and well needed, i've always played with chat entirely disabled because the toxicity in nearly all content is too much
Why would anyone want to play a game with other people and censor everyone? There are other games out there that you can play be yourself. I understand filtering words you do not want to see. I can understand putting some people on 'ignore'. But censoring everyone?
I wish they had an option to create a censored word list and it would just block messages that contain it. Then we could define specifically what words we care about. Bonus points for wildcard symbol.
"the game will mark certain messages as inappropriate" : who will decide what is appropriate and what is not? This is censurship. You can already block users. Block the spammers, sellers, trollers, toxic whisperers... This sounds a lot like becoming China. Talk in-game negatively about Blizzard? Suddenly you are censured without even knowing. Not a good evolution, the tools are already there.
As long as i can snack on peanut butter crackers or saltwater taffy while sitting on my porch and then have something spicy for dinner tonight, i don't mind chat filters.
It's a decent option to have. Sometimes you just want to see ^&*! talking from your friends instead of everyone.
