I wouldn't expect Druid travel forms to be affected by mount equipment anyway, since they already have several unique advantages.
Make the water stider unable to use mount equipments, and make it keep its native walter walking ability. All I see is that cool new gear is being added to the game, and halves of us will not use any of it because we're gonna keep waterwalking, while the other half uses speed boosts/daze prevention RemovedThis is made even worse by the timing of it all. You're implementing this in 8.2, when max level character will simply fly over water. But we'll still use those equipments because it's account wide and so if we want to have water walking on our leveling alts, we're forced to have them on our max level characters as well for no reason.Adding stuff to the game is great, taking away hard earned advantages isn't. Having advantages over other players based on the effort put in is part of what's fun in an MMO damnit!
What about Water Striders we bought from WoD, from Nat Pagle in garrison? Do we also get a free water walking item?
Removing water walking from water walking mounts? That's a real jerk move, Blizz. Giving us equipment that is broken upon damage is not a viable replacement for the water walking ability of water walking mounts. There is a reason people slog through the Anglers reputation and not just settle for potions or the shaman and death knight abilities. "Any damage will cancel the effect". At least the water walking mounts didn't lose their ability to walk on water from taking fall damage. This is just another gold sink, and an attempt to make skinning more useful.
I'm wondering, are the enhancements account wide or can you choose one per character? For example, can i use Comfortable Rider's Barding on my lowlevel character and Angler's Waterstrider on my 120 character?
Since the (long overdue) implementation of FLYING seems to come at the same time as this, I don't really see it as a big deal. I'm not going to be using ANY ground mount anymore if I can just as well fly, so whatever. That being said, I still don't understand the reasoning. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So people use the water walking mount too much? So what? If you don't like that, there's multiple ways around that without reinventing the wheel:- don't add so much water right in the middle of the way- make more mounts with innate water walking (though knowing Blizzards, those would just be recolors of the water striders anyway)- maybe next time make flying available at the start of the expansion? Or if you have to be so whiny about it (waaah but muh pretty landscape, u gonna fly ovah it!11!), make it available in the first patchThere, I solved your dilemma without having to implement a whole new gear system. But I think we can all agree that was never the point of this anyway. And hey, I actually liked all my Alliance chars using the blue strider and all my Horde chars using the red strider (aside from their character specific mounts which they would mainly use if they didnt have to cross water). So I am very likely still going to use giant water walking bugs over a mammoth with floaties on its feet. Because honestly, that just sounds dumb.tldr: I don't see the problem this change causes OR the problem that caused this change.
Laughs in engineer blood dk. (already have water walking, a chute, max land mounted speed and immune to daze effects).More seriously, this is a nice change.Water striders were really helpful (and their grind quite tedious as I heard) but so ugly it'd nice having water walking with cooler looking mounts.
This system is poorly implemented and removes player choices. You can't have your water walking and normal mount anymore with this system. Why not let mount equipment be per mount? This way you can customize different mounts for different situations...
The only thing I'm kinda concerned with is if Blizzard cares enough to rename the two water strider mounts, since their names technically no longer fit them. Maybe that's a bit too much attention to detail though.
It's just too bad they didnt make it "learnable" equipment, so that you can switch between different bonuses on the go
My toon that is exalted with the anglers is a Horde toon. If I buy a discounted set of water walking shoes, can I mail them to my Alliance alt on another server? That Alliance toon can currently use the water walking mount.
It is downgrade. Why not let stay Water Strider unique, just like Sky Golem? If you havent Water Strider - buy an item to waterwalking, if you have Strider - be happy user of another perk on another mounts. Grinding Strider should be still rewarded. Maybe requirements could be harder that way. Still the best option is to let customize every single mount separately. It doesnt makes sense of having inflatable shoes for over 140 mounts and no Saddlechute at any of them.
ok but as a shaman main i expect to be able to cast water walking while mounted now since death knights can do it already
