I really hope they add Torment the Weak back to Arcane. It was too good in BGs.
It's interesting that mages have to spec into time warp, which means that if you're in a raid and there are other classes with similar abilities you can spec out of it.I'm blind
3 posts about mage talents? Wowhead really milking alpha dry
ok, so basicly.. "we don't want you to play arcane" this spec could be so much more... I realy hope everything but the classes will be very good. S priest got some intresting things (deservingly) but some other specs like arcane are being left out.
good to know that arcane is still mind numbly boring to play
It's just current mage put into talent tree. Nothing new and exciting. You will have less and you will be happy...
The mage class tree is a bad joke. If we want Alter time, Ice Block and Mirror Images back, we already have to spend 8 points in the first sector. If we want rune of power, we have to spend 3 extra points in the first sector. The middle section is ok-ish. The bottom is just a kick in the face. We have to spend 3 Points for 10% more slow or -1.5sec cd on blink/shimmer. That is a bad joke.
For those that say that arcane is boring then you possibly have not played other range classes because they are all very similar with maybe the except of shadow priest and affliction lock.I was really hoping for something for Arcane, like half the cast time of arcane blast, fix the targeting of arcane barrage so it ALWAYS hits the targets in the area, something to add more crit change and or damage to barrage cause we know what happens when Arcane doesn't crit on it ( welcome to the bottom of the dps charts) and you give me a nuke that eats up ALL OF MY MANA...because arcane has so much mana to give up in game play.Too many selections with 3 points to get the power to something worth of a damn but i do see at least a hint of some interesting game play with frost nova and rigid ice for aoe builds but would do absolutely nothing against bosses and raids. I wish we would have gotten a tree more inline with frost DK where its a mix of aoe and single target talents that allowed you to build for one or the other, or some sort of hybrid build, but our utility is mixed in with throughput abilities we will gimp ourselves hard on utility without gaining an equivalent in damage. Ive always thought, right or wrong, that arcane should be the beast of single target and smaller pulls ie Theater of pain and most of Mist but suffer more so than other specs on +8 mob pulls. Everyone should have their niche, not a jack of all trades and right now from these trees I cant see a niche other than uninvited in keys and brought into raid only for lust. Throughput options that could be added to this tree could be:Increased crit chance dependent on chargesIncreased Crit damage so some abilities Shortened cast time of arcane blastTalent to make arcane missiles at single target terror or an aoe type ability through game play (Ie rapid fire with trick shots on hunter)I love the fact that Arcane is something you have to play to make it work well, no one button mashing, but its far too unforgiving EVEN when you do it well ( remember no crits on barrage). So I feel the tree should reflect that skill level in your rotation to get maximum throughput from it.
The *!@#ing Anti-fun Rune talent is still here.I'm just leaving my mage after playing him since Vanilla. Since its addition in Mop, i always thank they will finally drop this one day or another. It's seems not.I want fun, in playing a game. I had til mop. Now i'm staying in a rune. I'm out
Lonely Winter and Summon water elemental should not be talents, no one ever takes Summon Water ele over Lonely winter for any type of single target or non large AOE situations. PLEASE just put water ele as baseline and just make the 25% damage baseline it feels bad that you never get to take water ele ever when there are so many fun and interesting interactions with this pet that we will never get to experience. It feels bad having to spend 12 points in the top tier just get the baseline kit back. Main mage tree has WAY too many 3 point abilities in the way of the things you want its fine that they cost 3 its just the way its organized is what I am confused about. no clear order in the tree at all, also where is the baseline point depending on your spec? There are some really good things for Frost though. Frigid Shattering, Arctic Piercing, Watertide, Snowstorm. Very poor choices at the bottom, the talents are ultra lack luster and exactly the same thing we have now. Some of them like Thermal Void should just be baseline with Icy Veins as it is by far the weakest mage cooldown.
Wow. Arcane got screwed over badly.
Damn, they could have saved a lot of time with the Arcane tree if instead of this tree, it was just a single button that said "go f*ck yourself"
Out of the three it seems like fire still has the most 'fun' potential, as in the instant cast goodness with little downtime. Am happy with the direction of this.
The Arcane tree is... a mess. Things are all over the place and you need to spend lots of talents on fillers to get a build with any sort of cohesive gameplay. The core mage tree isn't really all that much better to be honest. The last rows are epicly underwhelming.Sheesh, I went from excitement of maybe seeing Arcane get some good gameplay enhancements, to feeling dread - they clearly do not playtest this stuff themselves.
I'll miss Alexstrasza's Fury. Flamethrowers are fun :(
