I'm really enjoying reading Ghostcrawler's thoughts. He generally seems very much in favor of the changes that happened since he worked on WoW, which is pleasant to see.
Fury Warrior best spec ;)
He should at some point do a post-mortem on his time as WoW Lead dev like David Brevik did for Diablo.
I like to read Ghostc. comments, pretty much "behind the escenes" and I love that!
I wouldn't have skipped what I retroactively consider now a likely high point that I missed if the marketing was more "all the kung fu movie tropes" and not "bouncy drunk bear people." Yes it's shallow, but the MMO boom at the time was far, far more tempting to me as a RPer with no sense of humor about my characters, who almost never rolls "gag characters." It was an expensive mistake to try every other MMO on the market, but an educational one that made my return with the legion announcement the return "for good." It wasn't until early 8.3 that I took a 3 month hiatus to FFXIV, but at that point I knew it was only a temporary break, and that WoW, the king for a reason, was home.
It's surprising that Mogu were added late, as they were honestly one of the best-written villains in the franchise. It's pretty rare that a villain group/race is introduced and they seamlessly fit into the setting with a rich backstory as well.
Pandaria.. When warlock was my favorite class with kil jeadens cunning which allowed casting while moving. Loved the game back then. Taking it out destroyed the class for me. I was fine with slowing it but removing it made me reroll... I know kjc was no initial wl fantasy but starting a destro wl in mop and having it removed afterwards was heartbreaking.
As a personal opinion, it's good to see that the game hasn't derailed too much since Ghostcrawler. His thoughts seem well aimed towards the dev team. I like learning about the dev teams and the small behind the scenes commentary at times, it makes blizzard seem more real and less "just another company".
"Kind of wish we had just made an Asian themed continent with Pandaren in it instead of branding the whole expansion around Pandaren."Omg that'd been so much better. Imagine Blizzard actually pulling a compelling world fantasy right there.
Interesting that mogu were a last minute addition because they're probably my favorite race/lore that's been added that has no connection to the RTS games.
I wonder if he wants to join the wow team again. Those tweets are love tweets.
An asian themed continent with pandaren in it would have felt less like an april fools joke when i was there at blizzcon when mist of pandaria got revealed
It's interesting to see his commentary.I'm kind of surprised the Mogu were added last... I like em. was a good decision to add them!
Ming the Cunning yells: Only the dogs of Clan Gurthan would point fingers at others for their own failures! Your clan is the most desperate! It must have been you!Haiyan the Unstoppable yells: Clan Gurthan is right! Only the honorless Clan Harthak could bring in a lesser race to do their bidding! You must be traitors!Kuai the Brute yells: A well-scripted exchange, but we are not fooled! Your clans are clearly in league with one another! For the glory of our King, our empire, we will put you all down!
