Since they will allow us to fly in both new maps, i think that's an okay addition to the achievement, also we are going to get the exploration achiev just doing the quests anyway
That makes sense. It's in line with previous Pathfinder achievements, and it's something you're probably going to do anyway while working on the reputations.
Yeah not a big deal. Exploring the zones is super quick too.
So far this part was to be expected, Part 2 of Legion had "Explore Broken Shore" so i figured it be the same deal here for the new zones
Was to be expected, and to get the rep to revered without exploring the areas would make it more difficult.
They should remove rep grind criteria, it makes zero sense to grind rep to be able to fly. Rep grind is here only for time gating reason and nothing else. Exploration should be enough as requirement.
No one has any real objection to exploring the map in order to fly. The objection always is on the artificial time gating involved. It's clearly less about "seeing the land" than it is about slowing down how long it takes to complete tasks, which inflates time played and all that. Does Blizz really think they're fooling anyone with their reasoning? The rep grinds need to go or at least be reduced. Simple exploration requirements should be all that is required, and perhaps a very minimal time gate (6-8 weeks or some such).
My view on how to gate flying changed when I started playing FFXIV.For those who don't, flying in FFXIV is unlocked by finding or being rewarded aether currents. Aether currents can be found through exploration of a zone (and sometimes they put them in out of the way places that require a lot of exploration; one in particular requires going on a path through half the zone map), are quest rewards, and sometimes are rewarded from dungeon quests. This means that to fly in a particular zone, you engage with the content in a meaningful way. You explore the zone, you do the story, you do side quests and dungeons. If you don't like flying, if it destroys immersion or whatever, you simply don't collect all the currents. It all makes sense; you're rewarded for it for playing the game in an organic way.The WoW version, with an insistence on rep grinding, is simply gating for the sake of gating. There's no meaningful reason in the story to do emissary quests until your eyes bleed from boredom. You've already cleared the zone story and probably already explored it already. It's strictly a time gate, thrown there by the same devs who tried to kill flying in Warlords and is beating people down into accepting that dreadful, deliberate time gating is acceptable when the same company used to be able to develop content that used flying and didn't force you into weeks of busywork for a faction. And it's working. People are sighing and going "well, it's not that bad." But there's other ways in other games that are far less drudgery than doing WQs until your fingers fall off.
If you play through the story you will get revered! do you people actually play the game, revered is NOT a rep farm, its proof you did the quest lines. quest are kind of the core of the game.Did you level up by running around and just grinding exp from kills?try questing once in awhile.
People are still acting as though this 'time gating' buzzword is a new thing, eh? What about all the stuff that's been in the game or added to it dating all the way back to vanilla? Pretty much every rep grind since BC has had 'time gating' thanks to daily and (since Legion) world quests. Raid attunements took multiple weeks due to instance lockouts. Hell, even professions have been time gated for certain items thanks to cooldowns on BoP crafting materials. This is not a new thing at all, so how come so many people seem to think it is?
Anyone else waiting for the other shoe to drop? The inevitable other rep mega grind shoe, I obviously mean.
I figure exploration would be added if they were to add anything to part 2. It makes sense too.
I like the pathfinder one with FFXIV. And for the one telling " revered is NOT a rep farm, its proof you did the quest lines", I think he might want to mean "Honored". I have never experienced a faction (required for pathfinder) gets revered just by doing the quest lines.
