So basically a rehash of the followers in BfA. Always fun as a Hunter, I had to keep turning them off because they attacked a beast I was trying to tame....
Are they zone restricted?
Have definately NOT missed those stupid NPCs. Having to ferry them around every day is not content, it is a grind, just to increase your /played time. At least I can guide my pet most of the time, these will add unneccessary mobs all the time, keep you in combat ...Except for some special follower equipment for the bodyguards, there was nothing else to be gained by having these around in Legion. In WoD, I leveled them to max, then never bothered with them again.
You mean the Wingmen you take with you on Draenor? I'm 120 and they level just normal for me.
Broll Bearmantle hears the other classes complaining about Legion followers : Hold my beerNATURES RAGE! Pulls half a zone.

Yes, can they be used outside of Nazjatar and Mechagon?
I really wish they'd have evolved this a little better. I mean, we're champions and masters of our class order halls. Why can't we take on an apprentice from the start of an expansion, that we get to fully customize cosmetically, with a storyline that revolves around that apprentice? SWtOR has a really cool "bodyguard" system. Blizzard has been known to borrow some of the best parts of other games in the past, expand on it or put their own spin on it, and it be a hit. Having our own unique apprentice that we get to level up along side us, gear it, customize it's appearance and interact with it would be pretty cool. Sadly, this isn't that far of a leap yet. Imagine it, though, picking it's race, gender, it's appearance, and decking it out in one of your transmogs, including weapons. You could have points through out the expansions story in which choices could be made that determines the type of relationship you have with the apprentice or even how their personality evolves. We do play an RPG, after all.
Ahhh I love having an NPC buddy! Wish there were more unique choices (like in WoD) but still, cool stuff.
Does each individual rank have an effect on the bodyguard? If not, I don't see why there has to be 15 of them. Each rank should do something. Trim the ones that don't.
Horde content finished first as usual
I miss Maximillian as a follower
Vim (Brineheart) > Emacs (Kelpfin)
I loved the bodyguards in WoD and Legion, and I'm glad to see the system coming back! My healer always needs a little help doing his WQs, and the flavor they add to doing dailies is wonderful. Mylune and her myriad of critters was my personal favorite, as well as Leorajh!
I can't get over that the Alliance get the Ankoan and their guardians who are out for blood, deadly warriors looking to mutilate up some nagas for their oaths whilst the Horde is allied with the Unshackled and their guardians who are all about protecting their homes, being friendly and just trying to live. It's like the devs got the factions mixed up again.
