Thanks for an insightful discussion on these topics!
thanks wowhead for support this show. today was very interesting.
I lost a lot of respect for Asmon due to his comments on hots which he rly lacks knowledge about.
HoTS was 11 years too late, blizzard made the mistake of allowing DOTA to launch off WC3 / WC3FT. people got mad when Asmongold slammed it, people who played it, etc. with some hard comments. ironicly true, you can't blame him for the obvious. HoTS started off lackluster, Blizzard threw money at it, did promotions to get players of other blizzard games to try it, nothing new though, it was also done for hearthstoneWe asked and Blizzard did listen and reacted, this is why with all the mounts, pets, Tmog, TF/WF endless gear upgrade chances, WQ, AP and more we got what we asked for...never done feel Asmongold, i watch some of the youtubes, sometimes he is right, sometimes he is wrong, and sometimes hypocritical like he was in this stream, especially when it comes to mounts. he has the glow off a 6yo kid when he gets a new mount, and the tantrum that follows when he doesn't. he also collects items for Tmog, etc. with the same glee as AnnieFuchsiaVan WOW, he truly did not play it (30 days or less) although the content was in tact when he leveled in BC, but still the experience would not be the same, since his goal was more to level for BC or WOTLK. may be the reason Blizzard did not want him on the Classic WOW panel at Blizzcon...they know? yeah he did the state of BFA video, imo too obvious as the reason. If Classic WOW releases (yes if), raids can take longer than the 4 and half hours, he has a problem with the current game now in this twitch, i also understand why he wants loot trading along with some other streamers. he wants instant gearing, instant gratification which he slams other players for as the cause of LFR along with other claims he makes. he will not have the patience to run MQ, BWL, etc for 2-3 months for a item here and there, something he did not experience, but he knows from talking to others and watching tubes himselfhe tried doing some twinking, he was insta geared, carried, and leveled a process which can take weeks even months for BIS. then claimed it was dead, players build them, but don't play them....when reality, it was his impatience, he could not handle 6-9 minute que times. did a few games, was not conducive to streaming. he tried to fill the gap with some dueling and got beat by a pro-twink player mcconnell
The issue with Asmonglod is that he literally knew nothing about the game other than it was a MOBA, that it had characters from Blizzard IP's and that he didn't play it. That was 100% of his knowledge of the game, which makes him 100% the wrong person to be giving out opinions on it, or to have them be taken in any degree of seriousness. As someone who's played most all MOBA's out there at some point in life I can tell you that HotS is brilliant in its approach to the genre. With tons of content and more than just the one relevant game mode (looking at you Rito Games), its focus on objective-based battles was a serious breath of fresh air in a genre that was super oversaturated with different games that looked all the same. Where it failed was when Blizzard decided to half-assedly release it, only to later rework it (to where it was now, a really good game) and to force an E-Sports Scene onto it. E-Sports should've come about organically, not be forced in the way Blizz did, and have done with OWL and other properties. Not to mention it had very little coverage and exposure on the web and unless you knew about it previously, there was very little online to tell you about the game existing, although there is plenty of content for it, such as build guides.Back to Zack, what he basically did was call a solid game &*!@ because he didn't play it, or didn't like the genre of game it was, and while he berates Blizz for the way they toned down dev support for it (yes, because the game is still around, and will probably be around for a while), he supports the final decision to do so. I like him as a content creator but sometimes he really grinds my gears from the sheer amount of ignorance he seems perfectly fine with displaying to thousands of his followers who instead of calling him out on it, go on to create an echo chamber. There were 4 people in this Allcraft episode, and at least one of them should have called him out on it. None did, and that really left a sour taste in my mouth. It's ok to not like a game or to talk about a game without having played it at all, but don't go about giving opinionated comments about things you had no business commenting about in the first place if it is something you know little to nothing about. Especially on a platform with such as Allcraft that had thousands of viewers.
